  • A Legend

  • too bad country today sucks

  • I don't understand.

I love this song, SO MUCH. When I play this for my friends, they'd laugh as if this is a joke or freak out hearing Hank's voice.

To me, this is the best country song I've ever heard.

  • @SallovesMJ HE is Country I agree

  • well then i can sing

  • i wish i was chilling in shawshank library... lol.

  • I'm a die hard punk rocker, and on a regular basis, I punch people that talk shit about Hank. You'd never expect somebody like me to dig on Hank. But it just goes to show how timeless his music is.

  • @voiceovgod

I was just gonna say almost the exact same thing! Except i don't punch people literally :p

This is one of my fave songs ever!!! <3

  • You do not have to love country music to love and appreciate this song.

  • this is actually a song that was popularized by emmett miller in the era of the minstrel shows, hanks company tried to claim ownership but was proven wrong.he even took emmetts signature yodel stylings from this tune...

  • RIP Hank. NO matter what You sir are the one and only undisputed KING of country.this is for you

  • NOW,, THISSS is WhaT I Call Country !!!

  • after this song is history-Hank makes those fake singers in Nashville today look sick--Hank was the real deal--not fake- he lived-ate-slept his music-been dead 58 years and is more popular than ever- a dumb hillbilly so to speak did it his way--his son hank jr has accomplished a lot--and it goes on and on--Best dam country singer in history- if you dont like him thats your dam business--but i love him--the dam best

  • Mr. Fisherman02-First real B/G musiciam.

  • This song has at least twice the number of chords of the usual Hank tune.

  • 7 to be exact. F, C, D, G, A, Bb, and one Dm. It's quite an exercise, but quite rewarding once it's learned.

  • This is the True South...Real and un-Tarnished

  • Brilliant track.hank Williams is a true legend

  • Fantastic song .I love Hank Williams music.A true legend and pioneer.God bless ya Hank

    Johnny Shamrock

  • That fella has real potential. I hope he records another song

  • @MrRazorblade999 Hank Has Been Dead Since 1953.

  • Trop bon !!!

Malgrés tout, la version De Jerry Lee Lewis est une des meilleurs version .

  • Good, but Patsy Cline is better with this song.

    Ewa, Sweden

  • @tagewa I politely disagree

  • Wow! 2 million plus viewers....that's awesome!

  • This man is 'indisputedly' the absolute King Of Country Music ! No one else comes close except Johnny Cash.End of story.

  • @alzahad and willie nelson :P

  • @alzahad what about waylon? kris? or willie? all the highwaymen are gods

  • I don't like modern country music that much at all (there are a few exceptions), but Hank Williams was the man.

  • Country is not exactly my kind of music, but this guy was a genius. A real rocker.

  • im related to hank williams...

  • most people don't know who this is and i'm 15 and i love this kinda music

  • hank and hank3 both rule

  • One of the greatest artists of all time.

  • His kid sucks.

  • Glad to be listening to this at 14!

  • Un gran artista que me da muy buen rollo escuchar.

  • The creek rose on 96 people...

  • @chadjenkinsmusic

"creek" should be capitalized as it refers not to a stream or brook, but to the Muscogee Native American tribe also known as the Creek or Creeks. The phrase was coined in the late 18th century when Native Americans and white settlers were still constantly fighting each other for land. If you lived in the southeastern region of the US during that time, it was understood that there was always a risk of the Creeks attacking.

  • Man this is a awesome music , thanks god i known this music , Also i am from Brazil , I think its only me that apreciate this music from this place :D

  • Best country song ever? Good, but I like Jambalaya or hey good lookin' better.

  • @Tankodesant

don't forget Lost Highway. It's one of the very few he didn't write. Tells you he saw a good one when he heard it. He sings it like he means it too!

  • Got to know Hank, from Shawshank

  • Got to know Hank, from Shawshank

  • 96 people need their heads examined

  • His voice was so compelling, whenever I hear it I have to stop and listen. Not many voices have that effect. He was handsome, talented and charming, from all I've heard, yet so shy and insecure he could not believe that anyone really liked him. The pain made him drink and medicate himself to death before he was thirty, but I know that in Heaven he understands how many people's lives he enriched with his gift of music, and he's happy there. God bless him.

  • @megaplayah his grandson is even better? at using drugs?...Hank III is pretty good ,I'll admit, but seriously though, better than the original? When Hank III has influenced 4 generations of country, rock&roll, and pop music in general ,maybe I'll reconsider my opinion and take your comment seriously...lets talk,in about 60 years or so,ok?

  • I'm so glad that I'm a country music lover and a hunter, fisherman and a Logger! God Blessed me to always be in the Outdoors! Thank you Lord !!!

  • @iwasborntohunt357 What you doin on youtube then? :D

  • Things to do when I die and go to Heaven:

    1. Speak to God/Jesus

    2. Meet my ancestors

    3. Jam session with Hank Williams

    4. Chillax for all eternity

  • @OW3NS93 add chill with johnny cash to that last and it will be perfect

  • @OW3NS93 people who say chillax dont make it to heaven... sorry

  • The best, before it became electric and special effects.

  • Thank God. Real music.

  • Happy birthday Hank Sr. you would probably be in your late 80's. =)

  • Happy Birthday Hank ;D

  • Love this track.

  • Sept 17, Happy Birthday Big Guy.

  • Es un exítazo Es el rey del Country

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY HANK!!! (17/09/1923)

  • @kiwicowgirl95 he has died To young :D

  • listen to the influence of Emmett Miller's 1922 recording, 27 years before this one. The sound of the high low pitching is the same. By the way, he (Emmett) was a minstrel singer. So much of what we identify as county is a mixture of other forms, and the same goes for any other genre.

  • his grandson is even better

  • @megaplayah , Sorry No Way ,~ but a matter of opinion ~ Arthur

  • @megaplayah wrong

  • Hank, the king of country!!!

  • A clip from the Kate Smith show

  • i agree, probably the best country song ever made.

  • When I was a kid I could imitate many of the songs

on the jukebox. This could not be touched. He took

    - I think - 4 encores when he did this on the opry.

  • I'm not a country fan ....but I've always thought that Hank Sr RULED!

  • The stuff they call country today is stupid... This is the real stuff! If you're gonna listen to country, it has to be stuff like this! :)

  • I'm 28yrs old from Brooklyn, NY and I LOVE (REAL) Country Music. That's proof that some of us Northerners have an appreciation for (REAL) Country Music! :)

  • Hank Williams is where country music runs head on into the blues like the collision of two freight trains. Think about it. Ol' Hank isn't usually considered a blues man, but he sho' nuff had a bad case of the blues...

  • I sang this for Miss Smith in Germany in 1959. She acted like she liked it. She needed to get out more.

  • hello i´m from spain ans i like country like this or modern country rock like lynyrd or alabama, but i don´t like keith urban and similars what kind of country is that? i don´t really like country?

  • I love hank, he is so cute. <3

  • thanks to shawshank redemption this is the greatest country song evar

  • If Ol' Hank could only see me now... Hank ]FOREVER!

  • the yoldeler

  • the original king

  • The man just oozed cool

  • This ain't no Hank Williams Song....oh wait it is!!!!

  • Wow. I never knew I'd like this sort of song. I guess modern country doesn't do justice because this tune has struck me with its greatness!

  • @KienjeTheGiant ____a lot of music now, even modern country is so over processed, computer corrected and over produced that it lost most of it's raw and gritty roots. Thats why I like the old country music...it's more "true", basic and raw..........

  • this is great music!

  • There may technically be three of them, but really: there's only one Hank.

  • they dont make music like this anymore

  • YAHoooooo. Love this song and most of all Hank's Sr songs.

  • I really love this kind of music. Most people I know have never even heard his songs. They don't know what they're missing.

  • i;m a bricklayer from Canada and i sing this at work almost everyday, bosses give me shit for singing it, but i will sing to my hearts content no matter what.

  • The second Hank Williams song I've ever heard and this guy is AWESOME!

  • One of his biggest hits and the one song he did not write

  • @paulbear1

I only just realised he didn't write this. The Emmett Miller version is brilliant too.

  • it must have been good to be hank williams at that point in the first 18sec... hes strutting like a bad ass dude who owns the town... of course at that point he did.

  • country music and the south..two best things ever created

  • I'd give thumbs up to the description, but I can't.

  • This got me through hard time at Shaw shank

  • take note on this song it is all true

  • Justin Beiber, take a knee and learn son

  • The Last Picture Show.

  • In my opinion this is one of Hank's best. And that is saying something.

    hep404.

  • I really don't know why people watch then and then give it a thumbs down. If you don't like "OUR" music don't watch it.

  • hank made genious seem effortless.

  • No one can or will ever be able to moan the Blues the way this man did.

  • awesome

  • Mr. Williams you are my inspiration for music your one hell of an artist bud

  • Hank and Hank III are the best!

  • Who the hell dislikes Hank??? He paved the way for so many artists. Love this song!

  • the man is country and thats it

  • The man who started it all...and one of the bases of Rock as well

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!! I love the yodeling he makes it sound so awesome! damn he died so young! God Bless Hank Williams

  • King Hiram Hank Williams the true king of country music and a master of the art

I am so proud to be named after him...Hank Williams Rizer

  • i am black and not from the south at all actually i'm from new jersey but i grew up with hank williams and i've always loved it thats how it is

  • THANK GOD i took up my grandma and grandpa's taste in REAL country music :) pop country friggin' SUCKS!

  • @TheRedneckdb Amen, brother! The "country" they play on the radio these days sounds more like something from the Disney channel.

  • @TheRedneckdb

agreed...that pop country crap is for those city folks who wear designer clothes and

cowboy hats, driving clean silverados, lol

  • @TheRedneckdb Gotta love Tom Petty's comment. "Country music these days is mostly bad pop songs with a fiddle."

  • @TheRedneckdb HELL YA!!!! Me too =)

  • @TheRedneckdb Agree 100%

  • @TheRedneckdb I believe Hank Williams III did a song about that very fact! haha

  • @TheRedneckdb couldnt have said it better myself

  • @TheRedneckdb I have to agree... I'm no fan of country music, and hate 99% of it on the radio today, but I've heard songs like this because a history of rock class I'm taking for my final elective for my degree. This still isn't really my taste, but I find it much more enjoyable than the garbage on the radio today.

  • @MikeAKAEarl.. you probaly pick up on the honesty in it. the lack of veneer & slick commerical production is so refreshing to hear in comparison to programmed commercial country & pop thats out there now. headsup, if you havent listened to cool water by hank, ck it out. pure emotional blues/gospel sound. dylan was quoted, that when hank song, all other things ceased to move. the more you listen to williams, the more he'll draw you in.the guy was tapped to blues & high lonesome like no one since.

  • @TheRedneckdb You're right, REAL country don't exist anymore. Tim McGraw, Trace Adkins and all these other don't know the meaning of true country music. This is what you call REAL country.

  • This song reminds me somewhat of ragtime, a lighthearted rhythm and melody that are very far from the way "blues" usually sounds.

  • Dayumm. Hank Williams was a finnnnnne maaan!

  • The best of the best.

  • LEGEND

  • sadly they wouldn't even play this on the radio today young people have no idea what real country music is in the words of barbra mandrel i was country when country wasn't cool

  • I guess 87 people got the lovesick blues.

  • Damn fine, love the rare color videos and fringe.

  • 87 people wouldn't know good music if it bit them in the ass.

  • My parents played Hank Williams songs all the time. No country singer today can touch the beautiful simplicity of his delivery and the purity of his voice. RIP Hank!

  • A brilliant songwriter/singer who sadly died at only 29 years old!

  • This guy was the best! Genuine, from the heart...Country Blues! Love it!!

  • love ole hank!!!

  • Hey, Thats June Carter in the 2:56 frame

  • My daddy and Hank look(ed) a lot alike. They are both up there in Heaven havin' one heck of a time!

  • "He looks like woody from toy storie"

Brilliant! But it's Woody who looks like Hank.

  • This song is better with Patsy Cline! But I like also this!

    Ewa in Sweden

  • lovesick blues is my favorite hw tune

  • He looks like woody from toy storie

  • @crusherproductions Nope. Woody from Toy Story looks like him.

  • Damn!! Take away all the childish hero worship legend crap, take away all the publicity, take away all the things we project on our heroes, and will are still left with a guy who could write and perform a song like no other. Hank was a talent first and foremost, the hype just makes a good story. He didnt need it, people only had to see him perform and they were instant fans. By contrast, take away a lot of modern "artists" publicity machines and we arent left with squat.

  • @mostlyrightous PERFECTLY PUT!

  • Best there is. He will always be in my heart.

  • Hank Williams was and will alwas be a Legend!!!

  • Hank = Love sick

  • Stuck in my head once more! Great song!

  • weirdest chord changes ever

  • It's like he is singing directly to me. ^__^

  • I never knew he passed away so young.

  • this man song and wrote songs from the heart as I been his fan since the 50's

  • Such a naturally charismatic performer, geesh! His music will be loved forever....everyone can relate to the heartache and the deep feelings of this man. Hope he comes back with a healthier body and a family that cares for him.

  • I miss my grandad when I hear this song!

  • oooh my god!!! AMAZING song<333333333

    I <3 Hanky boy 4 evaaaaaaaa<333

  • The shawshank redemption simply is the most beautiful thing ever created

  • 85 people need an injection of HANK!

  • I can't stand country but I do love this man - bit of an animal with his women and drinking but he certainly was a one-off

  • one of the great achievements of western civilzation-

  • the shawshank redemption!

  • Gimme some of that ol'- time chloral-hydrate, the back seat in my very own powder blue Caddy, a good beatin' up, and I'm off to next gig.............

The truth is out Hank, and you have won the game.... Thanks for stoppin' by.

  • like if shawshank redemption took you here :)

  • the best of hanks!!!!!

  • 82 people not live in america : )

  • @Dohoish You said "82 people not live in america : ) " Not sure if that LIVE rhymes with "give or jive" but I can assure you that people ouside America appreciate Hank's music. ;)

  • I love classical, hard rock, electronic dance, classic movie music, some rap (70s), a regular pop music and jazz, but there's always room for and nothing like Hank Williams :)

  • Pure country, not this hippie stuff you hear coming out of Nashville now a days, that is only part country, with a lot of other stuff thrown in with it. This poor man suffered so greatly with his back. They didn't have all the treatments back then that they have today to help back sufferers. Lyrics like he sings can only come from a heart that knows what pain and sorrow is all about . Boy, if he were alive today, he would still be a hit, his talent would be well welcomed.

  • @moseseseseses The good ones always go first bro. Damn shame ain't it?

  • I have idolized this man since I first heard and saw him sing. I needed no one to feed me comments about him or play the radio to me with country playing. Like Jim Reeves said when he asked Hank Williams about what he thought of him. Jim Reeves said when Hank put his hand on my shoulder and said 'you are going to make it that that was like the hand of GOD touching him" It doesn't get any better than that how great the man is. He may have had a line to God.

  • 1000000000000 million liikes

  • This is so good :)

  • 2 million views Hank deserves it.

  • whose gonna fill their shoes
