@judojustim Sure in this example it does not. Look at GSP he is tremendous at double legs, and his knee hits the ground about 50% of the time. It depends on the situation, and the set up.
@adamyardley im sorry but this guy was the UFC light heavyweight champ. just because he called a takedown the wrong name doesn't make any difference. Its not a judo quiz its who wins in a fight and the reason the UFC has become such a hit now is because they are cutting out all the bullshit terminology of the past franchises. who cares what the names of moves are all that matters is you can do them, he has proved he can because at the end of the day its doing it that matters not saying it.
Rashad Evans is a beast, no reason to flame him just because he isn't an expert in judo. Osoto gari seems to get reversed by the top fighters today anyway, ending in the other guy getting the best position.
this is a bad version of a osoto gari that look like it could be a hari goshi without the proper set up uchimata mean inner thigh reap we all love rashad as a fighter but lets keep the coaching to the coaches
its beyond comical that people on here are actually critiquing evans style on this you tube video, for one thing it must be nice to critiquing a pro fighter from behind the safety of you computer screen, when you know damn well whatever ranking you are or pretend to be in whatever discipline you train in, you know full damn well you wouldnt last a full minute in a scrap with rashad evans, come on relax hes just showing some basic moves probably to some kids class or something like that
@BowDown2ZionistPOWER that was a video for gsp. gsp could have beaten rashad but since its a gsp video they showed gsp getting the takedown more maybe if it was a video for rashad evans and gsp went to train with him not the other way around then it might show rashad getting more of the takedowns
@ttttrigg3r Im a wrestler so that's an excellent question. I'd say keep your chin tucked and try your best to end up in side control once you've established the takedown. It's extremely tough to get a guillotine when the person has you in side control...smh hopefully that helps.
@sirmiklo but it depends on what grappling you take,, for instance a wrestler has a model shot, he does it how i described, and in JJ, both gracie and brazilian, you drop your knee in most situations. but i totally agree with you in MMA its differrent
for sure. But i think they're relying on Rashad's significant speed advantage at 205 while having adequate strength to impose his game plan with the light heavyweights.... if u see him side by sie with his teammate Nate, Nate looks bigger. lol
Did he just say uchimata?? lmfaoo cmon rashad.

As a Judoka I'm not too bummed that he got the name wrong...I am a little surprised about the claim that he could "beat any judoka"
now i'm no MMA mega fan but I don't believe he has ever even fought a judoka...on a side note i do like Rashad
lzrdsixsix6 1 month ago
just a question isnt it easy to get choked when youre using the double legged takedown? tips would be helpful (im not hating btw just need help)
MrKumbayah 1 month ago
@MrKumbayah not if you keep your shoulder to your head.
another option is to cut to a corner...even if they do get around your head you'll land in side and it's pretty easy to shake loose.
lzrdsixsix6 1 month ago
@MrKumbayah Thats why you have to keep your head up to avoid someone slipping their arm under your neck

tha best way ta do a double leg is ta nt evn pt your head at his side at all bt ta drive your 4head in2 his chest tht wll prevent any counter
vector17171 1 year ago
If you put your head right at his side, what's to stop him from doing the guillotine? anyone reply to answer please.

idk hes a beast so he does it like that, the way i learned it was to do the full shot and drop your knee down
berglovesyou 1 year ago
@berglovesyou In mma you dont need to go that low because a fighting stance is straighter than a low wrestler's stance.
