  • This song brings sweet memories of my early youth, before all hell broke loose.

  • Lesson here: HUG WHAT YOU HAVE AND BE GRATEFUL! :D

  • I LOVE those ah-ha'a at 0:32, 1:17, and 2:07!

  • If music makes you feel young and alive again is it just music? It must be forever a part of our DNA!

  • I swear I hear pre Bee Gees.

  • Jessica Cleaves was fired by Maurice White of EWF. Head to the Sky was her last album with them.

  • It was great back then and still great today......

  • First heard this song in the summer of 70 on Boss Radio 93 KHJ in Los Angeles before going to Vietnam..what a group.......Just heard it the other day on KCOL 92.5 FM our of Beaumont,Texas, it was like hearing from you haven't heard from in 42 years..........

  • @guayne2419 I didn't know that, but now that you mention it, it is the same voice! They just don't make music like they use to! FOD is one of the best!

  • Me and my cousin recently went on a road trip and this song came on Sirius radio and we went bananas. We used to sing this song all the time back in the day and we sung it again word-for-word!! We even threw some harmony in it---LMAO!!! This song was one of the highlights of our road trip!

  • @onemeanscorpio Road Trip! Awesome! Great Music too...

  • R.I.P.Moms and her stack of "And you better not touch them"albums!GREAT POST!!!

  • ALWAYS makes me happy to hear music that make me dance when I'm alone.

  • my mom likes this song!

  • Who is doing the lead vocal on this ?

  • @bluesimage1 Teh The lead singer on this tune is Jessica Cleaves, she also sang with Earth, Wind and Fire in the beginning, she sang, I rather have you, and Keep your head to the Sky!

  • @GIJAYNE2419

Some sources say Charlene Gibson was lead singer here.

It's not that difficult; why can't there be more accuracy?

  • @kub73158 That's what I was told when I'd inquired a year ago who was the lead singer and I was told it was Charlene Gibson.

  • This is one of the BEST records to be released in the 70s! What a production, arrangement and performance.

  • Uniquely beautiful

  • I was nearly a BABY when this came out and I so remember it and MORE as I grew into an instant DUSTY junkie. This is great!

  • Since 1970, this has been my theme song; plus this applies to love ones, friends and times. One of the best. Thank you

  • wow, this is so good! always loved it.

  • My whole life I spend as a Radio DJ, from San Francisco to Miami, and this song was one of the best

    Buddy

  • the backup band had the most soulfull rythem section DAMN!

  • This song take me back to 70's man we us to party back in those days

  • I dated a girl in college that could sing this song Plus others with a group call the "Intimate Circle". It was great then and is now...They sang with Morehead's Stage Band it was awesome. I still remember...

  • You all should have been around when all of these great song came out! I spent a great deal of my younger years listening to these great hits on the radio!

  • Yes I have always loved this song, 1970 was the year it came out, it was also the year we moved that ended up changing my life. I will always relate this song with that move.

  • Best ever lonely love song ... yyyyep

  • "grazing" may be what this group is best remembered...but in (my) opibnion, this was their best of the single commercial material.....great sound..very talented...

  • Jessica Cleaves lead singer, later she went to Earth Wind and Fire before EWF went pop.

  • @mrstanbmw Earth, Wind & Fire never went pop. Pop found EWF.

  • @IRONMANHONDO87 Excuse me, Bullshit

  • @mrstanbmw At what place in time did Earth, Wind & Fire go the pop music route? Name the song. PLEASE! I grew up listening to this band. From 1972 until.

  • @IRONMANHONDO87 September, Got to get into my life, just to name and few I'm not hating you got to get paid , Kool and the Gang did the same thing. But if you go back to EWF since 72 then then you have a serious ear problem if you don't realize that their recording from 1971 to 1976 was vintage EWF. It was much more "Soulful than their Pop recording from 1978 through the 80's you can't be a real fan if you can't tell the difference. I think I know what is happening .I will leave it alone

  • @mrstanbmw I disagree. September was not a pop song. It never got any mass appeal until the 80s. "September" was off of the Greatest hits album. Earth, Wind & Fire fell victim to the "end of disco" phase. The mainstream placed EWF in a catagory that they were never meant to be placed in. "Disco!" Earth, Wind, & Fire have always been a soul band. Now Kool & the Gang did go commercial. I hated "Joanna" with a passion.

  • @mrstanbmw Let me jump in to say....EWF got away from their Funky, Earthy vibe indeed...they still had some gems..but not like the 70s, especially the early to the mid 70s... and I hated "Joanna" too, but not as much as K&TG... "Cherish"... Goodness I still hate that song with a passion..lol..

  • @MultiplicityMe2 Once again EWF never had a "funky" sound. Maurice White was influenced by the kalimba hand piano. Earth, Wind, & Fire had a sound that was influenced by Africa. Thus why he, Maurice White" made the kalimba the center and calling card for EWF. The one thing that all of the groups of the 70s had was a horn section. The term used to identify them was "fatback." EWF most diffenately had an awesome horn section. The Seawind Horns. EWF was never "funky." They were soulful.

  • :) Do I miss these times, or WHAT? GREAT song!!! THANK you

  • @skaha77 Jeepers, I was 13 when this came out in early 1970! Billboard Hot 100 (#6) and Adult Contemporary singles charts and #13 on the R&B chart. my channel is a musical time machine with playlists for every year since 1900 - the evolution of a century of pop music. 750 playlists in all, covering 100 genres & over 450 artists from around the world. Thanks to MM2 for reposting all the music - my channel only exists thanks to people like YOU! My current feature's by an amazing guitarist. chuck

  • @chkjns Yeh. I have only a 100 gb Hard drive. Over half of it is music clips

  • @skaha77 100 gb...ooooo *swoon* half of it music...double swoon...lol

  • @skaha77 I've started to load up my hard drive, too. My current RealPlayer lets me, but it's done so twice before & then suddenly quit. Don't know if I'm getting a bonus I shouldn't or what. Always expecting the download option to quit any day, just like youtube. I'm always expecting youtube to crash & burn at any moment, they've got so many glitches constantly & it's so easy for them to blame YOUR server! So, while yt lasts, my 750 playlists are cyberalbums taking up no space from me! chuck

  • @chkjns I use VLC Media player and there is a great downloading program (Free) from Flashlynx Video software. I can play off line and the WMG cops can eat my dirty sox

  • @chkjns I use VLC Media player and there is a great downloading program (Free) from Flashlynx Video software. I can play off line and the WMG cops can eat my dirty sox. I should burn them all onto a DVD and then keep maybe 50 songs alive on the HD

  • Do y'all have any idea how long I have been looking for this song? Around 92 I heard this on a Time/Life commercial for an album of golden oldies. I saw that commercial once, so I walked around only knowing the melody. I asked several people about the song for nearly twenty year, to no avail. Finally, I go to youtube for some old school R&B and I see the link to the song. Not knowing what song awaited me I clicked, and BOOM, I jumped out of my seat. After 20 long years my search is finally over.
