ahh! its a damn best video I've ever seen. Remember the other scene he said "Last week I turned 95 years old.....sometimes I think God forgot about me..."
My great grandmother died like that. She had heart pills and they wanted to take her out like every sunday, but she fell asleep watching TV and never woke up...
She didn't touch her pills, just slept in peacefully.
The 2 Grumpy Old Men movies have a certain charm to them. For example, I love how the scenery of the state of Minnesota is practically a co-star. In Grumpy Old Men we get to see how nice it looks with all that snow and ice. And in Grumpier Old Men we get to see how even nicer it looks underneath all that snow and ice. Just beautiful. The lovely small hometown feel of this movie also adds to the charm. Makes one want to move there to live & hopefully have Max, John, Pop, and Ariel as neighbors.
Must've been a pain in the ass having to carry him back to the car and drive him to the mortuary, couldn't he have just died at home? Instead he goes all the way out to this lake and fucks up a fishing trip, weather was nice too , what a shame.
That is a well done movie. You laugh hard and than when a tragic moment hits you feel it. Nobody can't be saddened by that moment fiction or not. A good way to go though. In a beautiful spot waiting for your son to come join you to go fishing...
God help Walter, Jack and Burgess, all gone but not forgotten. The halls of heaven will b forever ringing with applauds for these 3 gentlemen. God bless them and may we all on day rejoin them when r time comes
This scene is so sad ...when i saw this i remember that i must get thru this too one day .... this is the natural cyrcle or life and we cant do anything about it.
Anyhow , this is a nice place and way to die ...near at a splendid lake , fishing and with a fast and painless death.
When it came to Burgess Meredith, the death of his characters were always sad. It's a toss up when it came to Mick's death from Rocky III and Grandpa's death from Grumpy Old Men. Death is a cruel fuckrat, but we all go regardless of how we go. RIP Burgess Meredith, Walter Matthau, and Jack Lemmon.
First, you simply couldn't have acted out this scene any better than Lemon did here. His facial expressions really exhibit at once a disbelief and great sense of sorrow. I really think the most powerful part of this scene is the lake as a background to the silhouette of the sofa and the two men, with the moving musical score. You can almost appreciate this as the last time these two will ever share company in this familiar place. Very very moving.
It choked me up the way he was telling his troubles and asking his dad's advice before he knew he was dead, it just shows no matter how old someone is, they still want and need their parents comfort and guidance till the day they die.
This scene was well written, well acted and the music just added the final touch to truely make it touching. When the italian mother puts the flower in the water - that's when I cried.
In the DVD the scene is actually called 'God Remembered'. i wasnt
When i bought it and saw the name of the scene i automatically knew it would be a death scene... but i wasnt expecting it to be my favorite perverted grandpa ;(
That is the best way to die...no pain, no memory and your are spending your last breath at the place you are happiest. God forbid I pass away I would want to go in my sleep laying in bed at night.
Saddest thing in the movieT_T!! But at the same time it was really beautiful. Made me think of my grandmother. I really loved with Gus repeated his dad's quote, saying "Looks God remembered ya Pop".
Me too. But I think it was a wonderful thing to have in the third and last movie. It makes the films even better. That sad scene makes the comedy more "seriously", better and with a foundation. We saw something like this in the first "Arthur" movie. And the arguing between Walther and Jack is the best in movie history. Just lovely man :)
