Kate I am concerned about your health. I think you should talk to a nutritionist or something. Water retention should be a temporary effect of drinking too much. If you are consistent in how much water and when you drink it you shouldn't retain water... unless your sodium intake is too high. This coupled with the fact that you've been very tired, when exercise should be giving you more energy is like a warning flag... talk to a professional instead of getting regular joe's advice.
