I am a huge Lynch fan and a Dokken fan....MY WISH is that Lynsh still played and sounded like he did back in the 80s and/or the early 90's in lynch Mob. Great stuff....
George must have had quite a bit of experience w/ demonic, dingie women in his day - no other way to play the stuff he does on this CD. The selfish part of me wants to thank them for that.... though how dare they mess w/ George... so I'm torn.
I Love Dokken, Don Dokken's Powerful and Soaring Vocals are among the Greatest in all of Hard Rock!! For me, Dokken is One of the Greatest Bands of All Time, I truly Love this Band!! Don Dokken's Solo Album is a Masterpiece in itself. Back For The Attack is an Amazing Album.
This takes me back to senior year, the humid backseat of an 84 Camaro shortly after homecoming, and finally banging guts with a little hottie I had been chasing for some time. Ahhh, those were the days.
DOKKEN WITHOUT GEORGE IS..... WELL, DOKKEN SHYT LOL GEORGE IS 1 OF A KIND, RIGHT UP THERE WITH THE GREATS JUST BECAUSE OF HIS BADASSNESS, U FEEL GEORGE, BEST OF THE LA BUNCH BACK IN THE DAY
I was crushed when these guys broke up..I used to play this cassette soo much thought I was going to break it..I actually did break one LOL...this was my high years :)
Now i Going to see George with a reserve seat in Hollywood, and my Lawyer is a Dis-Believer....so Goddamit George...dont just "warm up" the whole show! ..I wanna see some Mustang Sally!
I believe it was usually George composing and stacking up the guitar parts. Live,of course,he was on his own,but then there was that pile of Marshall amps & cabs! When we saw Back For The Attack in 1987 (Portland,Maine,CC),they just blew the roof off the place, and sounded record-perfect doin it,too. As for vocals,Don probably sang some harmony with himself in the studio, but both there and live,Jeff's fine singing ability was a great asset. Mick was in there singin, too,on some tunes.
LOL you said it! in 1987 they were the best!...i gotta tell you for three tours before that when they were opening i was buying beer waiting for the main act...now that tour i had to leave the beer line to check out who was playin"...and i walked out and i saw George shaking his hairdo with that new Purple Kamakazee Guitar..now i was completely blown away with that sound!...it was the anti-master of puppets sound!...
Oh yeah, definitely a Sunset Strip glam band, but man could they deliver! They were opening for Aerosmith when we saw them, which was fun cuz my bud was a longtime fan of theirs, while I wanted to introduce him to Dokken as a hot live band. Tellya what, after 3 songs, incl Unchain The Nite and Into The Fire,I looked at him and his jaw had literally dropped open! The 'rock critic' at the local paper saw the show the nite before & said Dokken was too loud and used bad language-Don said he had no balls!
I think by this time George Lynch was handling all the guitars. This was a known point of dispute between he and Don. Don wanted to play guitar, but I think George didn't want him mucking it up. Sorry Don. Great vocals bro!
@666Goddammit666 Why? The guitars are exsquisitely done. I think Don would have damaged the sound by adding his guitar. He can't be anywhere as good as George.
Hell Yes!!! My favorite song on this record. There isn't a finer example of George Lynch's scorching guitars and Don's Vocals. Damn I wish these guys could have gotten along. One of Dokken's best ever songs!
A fine example ot Lynch's talent at any speed. Just try to copy this lead. Sounds easy, but to hit all those harmonics precisely - very few guitarists could do it. maybe Neil Geraldo?
That's the thing about George Lynch, he plays guitar with such tact. I mean he puts purpose into every note. There's always some crazy vibrato or other nuance of inflection and emphasis that makes his playing among the best ever.
Awesome Dokken,Great band, despite Don and George diffrences the created magic!!!!

Tooth and Nail and Under Lock and Key in my opinion was Dokken at their best.
The problem with this album for me was the way it was mastered
