  • Yo Bro, I have to thank you for all your efforts in producing the DJ tutorials. Their the best on YouTube. If I could pay for them I'd play double if I could afford too. I'm looking for DJ work in Tokyo and it's so hard.

Your tutorials helped me see the light on mixing today. I'm an old schooler and I appreciate your Wisdom. If I can help you in any way please contact me. Yo I want to get that MixVibes Controller. I Loved you daughters story. I'm a parent to. Thanks Keep Creating.

    DJ Dee.

  • @Bocky25 haha yeah that made me lol, what a legend!

  • Holy crap. Thanks so much, cant thank you more. didnt know that if you had any of the low mid or high turned up extremely high that it distorted the signal.

  • The voice dosen NOT stop at 300Hz, its more like 4000Hz..

300Hz is still at low mid

  • what mixer is that ( whats it called? )

  • are you an up and coming dj if so go to my profile and click the link in my desdription. this site gives you easy step by step dj tutorial videos.

  • thanx man very clearly understood...!!!!

  • HAHA "its atrocious" hahah ur vocab is fuckin hilirious

  • what mixer is that

  • Well i recognize one button!

    The power button!

  • Not true. If a normal guy had a voice around 1khz, we'd all be squeaking. Please check what you write before writing it.

Or, explain better. Because there's no way I know anyone who talks generating sound waves with a frequency of 1khz!

  • HAHAHA You must be out of your mind! LOL

Google it my friend.. Google it lol

Like you said, "check what you write before writing it".

    LOL

  • /watch?v=R7D1f6U6TpU

    That's a 1000hz sine wave.

Please do explain how I'm supposed to talk like that! Or, include a Google search string, or a link.

I'm very interested in the topic, so it would be cool to understand. :)

  • Guilherme81 got owned xx

  • LOL... Apparently.

I'm still waiting for the answer though. =.=

  • actually normal voice range is 1-3 kHz, our ears are hyper sensitive to this frequency range. (New born child cry is 3 kHz, and thats our most sensitive frequency)

  • well much below 1khz aswell

  • every video if watched has helped me so much. even just to get to that next level just the smallest amount. after watching ur videos and then having an experiment session myself has made me s much more confident thanx mate champion

  • I LOVE YOU MAN

  • Nice track :D.

  • J, you didnt say 'PRACTICE AND NJOY'

    I'm in shock!

  • Why does J put the basements at 11 o'clock and not at 12 ? Didnt get that :P

  • why would they put the on/off switch on the face of the mixer>>?

  • Can someone tell me what song that is?

  • Dj Marky - Sambassim

  • Cheers mate

  • WHAT IS THE GAIN??

  • Its just a master volume control for that specific channel.

  • the gain (sometimes called trim) is an amplifier that boosts the signal coming directly from the turntable. the signal then passes through the EQ, then to the level faders. the faders can only TAKE AWAY from the signal, not boost it (thats why theyre called 'faders'). set your faders to FULL (10) and adjust the gain so that you get just the littlest bit of red in your meters (in cue mode).

  • now you know you can slam the fader to 10 and not worry about going too loud. when you go to mix in the next record, before you bring up the fader, set the gain so that the level meters (in cue mode, for that channel) match the first channel. you can drop mix it in, and it will be the same volume. guaranteed!

of course you'll have to fiddle with the master volume a bit to get a comfortable main sound.

  • aka the "trim". its the volume for each side.

  • can you make a vid about beatmaching on the CDJ 800 MKII

  • what mixer sould i use i have a stanton mixer but i want something more like some that u can do loops mine doesnt have that

  • u're the Best, Man...

I know this song !! LOL i love it since i was 13!! lol !!! I am brazilian so i know sho this guy is ! And eventually i had the chance to see hem at stage !! DJ PATIFE !!

Thanks for the VID ellaskins !! Very nice !

  • tks.. really nice job for people who are interested in mixing

    keep on ;)

  • thanks ... your the best!!

  • Thanks for the reply. I will make sure to check out those videos.

I actually just thought of the question I meant to ask with regard to the mixer.

When playing a song on each deck is it possible to just have for example the beat from turntable A playing with the just the vocals from turntable B just by tweeking the knobs. Is it possible to do this with a mixer ??? Because sometimes I hear Dj's play a song and they mix it with two different beats .... im wondering if this is how they do it.

  • yes you can do this by turning the bass mid and top off.Bass off , no bass line, mid off, no vocals, top off no hand clap. johnathan djtutor

  • @ad1585 Whats it called when u repeat a word for example " bi - bitches or mad - madlock or ava - avatar" Whats it called and how do u do it PROPERLY.

  • I know you just explained a little about these knobs and buttons but I would like to see a video if possible showing the different knobs being used ... I assume the add effects and sounds to the mix correct?? Also ...for someone that is thinking of buying Denon cd players .. what mixer do you suggest for me ???

Thanks for everything ... im glad you make these videos

  • any good mixer with bass mid and top eq, and if you can get a mixer with fx. I have a few vid's utilising the eq, go see. johnathan dj tutor

  • Ive been watching your videos and noticed that you didnt really use the crossfader to do your mixes, and in one video I believe you actually said "i hate the crossfade" .... I dj for a company that does partys and eventually wanna get my own gear and maybe even do some club stuff ....ive only used mixers that have just the crossfader .... can I do mixes with the other knobs???

  • I knew it was in portuguese, its pretty good.. id like to find it

  • What song is playing in the example? some drum&bass

  • Yes it's called "samba"

  • Its DJ Patife (feat. Fernanda Porto) - Sambassim

One of my favourite tunes! It was on V Recordings on the Brazil Ep

  • Great tutorial videos, thanks :)
