  • I just cant comprehend how smooth the action is!!!

  • it has a drop out mag y not use it??

  • @Thecrossbowdude The stripper clips are actually much faster that's why, the magazine itself is actually kind of a pain in the ass to get in and out, and then u gotta put ur gun down and hold onto the mag and load it and then monkey it back in and all that,, the stripper clips are just push and go.

  • What you have there sir, is an AMAZING rifle! :D BTW how much did you pay for yours, $200 maybe? <--sorry if I was off... (Im going to buy one!!!) :D

  • Nice video but i don't need to see any special camera angles that would put the camera man at risk

  • I just picked up a sporterized no4 mk1 for $75. Best deal I've ever had.

  • these rifles are still used today by the canadian forces rangers for their arctic patrols because they are able to function extremely well in sub-zero climates.

obviously they're used mostly for self defense from polar bears rather than fighting enemies.

  • @wookieinheat - Interesting. I like to hear about old classics such as this still being in use; it shows that they're durable and reliable. Wouldn't be my choice against a polar bear though, seeing as the .303 has slightly less power than, say, the .30-06 or 7.62x54r. Still, would probably knock em down.

My best friend has a rifle of this same type, completely unissued condition, never fired since manufactured, stock, barrel and metal finish 100%. Beautiful gun, very smooth action.

  • @FearTheGremlin lee-enfield rifles were far more prevalent in canada due to our association with the british commonwealth, the Mk.4 I was manufactured in toronto during WWII. i'd imagine that's why we still have quite a few of them around, as compared to the garand or m1903.

  • derp lets shoot the camera man

  • Viewers, you are looking at the greatest service rifle ever made.

  • I can see from the video that you do not know how to use the speedloader. You should depress the rounds quickly holding your thumb against the clip and then bring it back up flipping it backwards. This can be done in a fraction of a second.

If you are unable to do this why use anything other than the battle site to fire off rounds at nothing in particular?

  • Thanks guys for all ur help answering my questions about my rifle..when i go home next week i will take a look at it real close again and see if i can fill you in on some of the stuff i find..i am going to look at the sights, date manufactured ( i think it is 1942) and take off the trigger guard and see which on it is..thanks again

  • The last good thing to ever come out of England haha jk

  • I have a question..My Lee Enfield has different rear sight than the one in this video it has a sight that you can flip from 300 meters to 600 meters..and my question is: is my rifle still considered a MK II??

  • @tactfulcoyote It depends when it was made. Also the 300-600 sight is graduated in yards, not metres.

  • @tactfulcoyote as TaZ101SAGA said, it depends on when it was made. I THINK, they started Mk.II production in 45, but could have been 49, again im not sure. I do know that the only arsenal to make them with the 300-600 flip sight was Savage, on the No.4 Mk.1*. There are some subtle differences between the two, but one of the most official ways to check is to take the trigger guard off. If the trigger is hung from the receiver, its a Mk.II

  • @ironcross44 ok i checked the trigger guard and when i took it off the trigger came with it. also when i was looking the rifle over i noticed that there was No 4 MK I stamped into the metal..so i would guess that it is an MK I since it says it on the rifle. Thanks again for you help..cant wait to get this thing checked out so i can fire it

  • The "Brad Pitt" of the Rifle Family Tree!!!

  • is the blowback big??????????

  • @mikie741 No, its actually pretty light. The rifle weighs nearly 9Ib's and the weight really helps to reduce felt recoil. I find it actually kicks less than a polymer constructed .308 rifle.

  • @mikie741 its doesnt have blowback. its a bolt action rifle, it has a fair bit of kick but not blowback

  • Great rifle the Lee Enfield. I had three. The State of Connecticut confiscated them and had them all destroyed. Communist bastards.

  • @StephanusTacitus What are you talking about?

I just went to a gun show in Connecticut a few months ago & there were TONS of Lee Enfields for sale.

  • it's an involved story, but, MY three Enfields were seized and orderd destroyed. That was in 2001. I did not say or imply that all Lee Enfields in the State were ordered destroyed.

  • @StephanusTacitus I understand. Say no more I've seen it before & it's a shame. I'm sorry to hear that my friend.

  • MAn you're fast at bolting that rifle, beat that double tap

  • I have got a 1918 lee enfield 303 mkIII

  • great rifle

  • what year was the No.4 Mk 2 made and are they good quality ( as in they did not cut corners when they were made) and how much did you pay for yours

  • The Mannlicher Gewehr shoots faster than the Enfiled.

  • it may have been sound delay, but it looks like you're breaking "cheek to stock" technique. Fun gun though. I picked one up at a pawn shop a few years back, some idiot put a sporter stock on it.

  • Wasn't it dangerous to shoot if someone with camera was almost in front of you? Especially between 40-50 seconds, and with the muzzle flying around? Thanks.

  • youre flinching really bad.

  • fuckin' awsome i just got 4 christmas a 1927 K Model!

  • Personlly, The no.4 is ideal. I am quite small, yet it fits snugly etc and isn't too long. It is only a deact.

Possibly the best rifle to grace the fields of battle...

I use that because it did, unlike the sten gun, m3a1 grease gun etc

  • What is the overall length of those bullets?

  • ahh need to be smoother with the bolt these are good rifles they should be treated well

  • He was being smooth. The Lee-Enfield bolt action is mainly about speed, usually, the quicker you are the smoother the action.

  • I've held one of these before... One of my mates grandfather was in the Canadian Armed Forces, and damn, this gun is quite heavy and big. Comparing to other rifles like the K98k that is. I still prefer the K98k I think.

  • I prefer the mark 3 to the mark four it looks better but the no. 4 is amazing when it comet to accuracy and is a really amazing weapon. Thirteen members of my family have used them and 8 have died with them in their hands I am very proud.

  • the gun is from england

  • My great uncle used that gun, Im very proud of his services and for all canadians whom fought in the second world war! GO CANADA!

  • dude Long Branch is canadian man yea

  • nice rifle, what year was that one made?I just got a Long Branch model Mk4 #1 dated 1944...It shots really smooth and flat...

  • brilliant mate! :) but my favourite rifle has still got to be the 303. Cal. Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.3

  • I love the enfield (not as much as the kar98 though). I love its short bolt-action and 10 round magazine cap. The accuracy is excellent!

  • that makes a cool noise :P

  • Very fast bolt action( Lee Enfield)

  • The Lee-Enfield is a .303 British. The Kar98 is 7.92x57mm (had to look that up) but if you're getting ammo for the kar 98 it is just known as 8mm Mauser. Both are not bad guns, got the kar and the Enfield, sept my Enfield is a III not a II

  • whats the caliber? of this and the Kar98

  • jerry is the enemy german

  • hmmm. "jerry" sound like "the enemy"

  • How do they make up this stuff?

Charlie never seemed to "Vietnamesey" to me

    same with the name Jerry

  • how could you switch outthe front sight? i want to buy one from my uncle, he bought it all matching and original 1944 lee enfeild but when he bought it it had a sporter front sight on it. how much money would it cost to switch it out for a enfeild repo front sight?

  • anyone know how long does it take to reload both mags?

  • Cool !!!

  • Regarded as one of the most accurate rifles in the world, was my weapon of choice when I went to Vietnam; I had to ask special permission from the squad leader to use it. After I used an M16A1 I grabbed the old Enfield and I demonstrated to my superior officer that I could handle the Enfield better, so he gave me a scope and gave me everything I could need.

  • thats really cool. what did you do?

  • my father liked the m-14...he said the m-16 was a piece of crap

  • @Tririnity its disrespectful to imitate a soldier or a veteran of any kind

  • @stitches611 Sorry about that man, over 2 years ago, wasn't the most mature person you could meet. Anyways, I've straightened up now, and it's my dream to fire some of these old WW1/WW2 rifles. The Mauser Karbiner 98 Kurz being my favourite. Once again, sorry. I've wised up now.

  • @Tririnity I have a Yugoslavian Mauser k98k

  • I love all old weapons from 1700 to 2000, but this rifle is my favourite!! Sorry but I'm Italian and I speak english not very well !!

  • @kapitankolt1911 you english is pretty good to me!

  • How many Jerries did you kill eh chap?

  • Is a Jerry like army jargon for a nazi german?

  • yes

  • reloading must be a bitch

  • cal . 303 british right ?

  • yes

  • @kapitankolt1911 no its called a .303 but acually slightly bigger then a 308 , its hard to understand why they called it a 303

  • the No 4. uses .308 Winchester and its military counterpart

  • @farmerboy245 The original No 4 MK1 and No 4 MK 2 are .303 British. It's possible they might have converted some to .308.

  • @esh325 longbranch made .308 enfields

  • @HavocProductions1943 Wish we could get them. Never seen a .308 enfield for sale other then the Ishapores.

  • @esh325 yeah but the .303 enfields are better then the .308s least they have a bit of kick.

  • @HavocProductions1943 I like the .308 because it's a common caliber. The Ishapore I use to have didn't have much difference in recoil compared to .303.

  • @esh325 .308 has less recoil cause the .303s a bigger caliber. but i see what you mean about it being a common caliber.

  • @farmerboy245 whats? its uses .303 like every british/aussie lee enfield

  • @HavocProductions1943 once again, some civilian versions of the No. 4 have been rechambered to fire the .308 instead

  • @farmerboy245 longbranch canada? they made .308 enfields

  • This gun is awesome

It has 10 rounds a Magazine

  • yes thats also why it is very popular at the british side.

  • you should try out an SKS, they're pretty friggin awesome to shoot, at our farm we nailed an old satellite dish to a tree at 200 yards and we sit there and shoot at it for hours

  • and also becos its has the easiet sliding bolt

  • Not a very stable trigger finger there..

  • way easier to handle than the russian mosin and MUCH less noisy.

  • i love to use the peep sights on this rifle and the elevation sight are very acurate

  • Very nice rifle :D nice job mate : -) Can someone tell me how much does a Lee Enfield No.4 Mk.II cost on the market... !?

  • It depends on condition. You can probably get a decent one for around $500. If you want a mint one, I have seen prices exceed $700 US. Now for ones still in the wrap, some can go for $1000. If you want a simple shooter, I heard the POF (Pakistan Ordinance Factory) ones are OK, not the best, but they are good shooter and plentiful.

  • Go to a gun show. I picked up a two-groove 1943 Royal Ordnance Factory (Fazakerly) No.4 Mk.1 for $200.

  • i picked one up in very nice shape with a very nice bore and wood for 110 us dollars

  • beautiful rifle...But get some hearing protection.

  • he's wearing EARs (in ear plugs)

  • Much better with the trigger hung from the receiver, also the brass butt plate. The ultimate Enfield.

  • Without a doubt one of the best, if not the best, bolt action battle rifles in the world. Now used a lot in northern /canada to hunt bear, dear and moose. Still used in a few forces in the world like the police forces of India, and the Canadian Northern Rangers in the arctic. Takes abuse better then the M-16/C-7 used by regular Canadian troops. Used by the Afghans against the Soviets soldiers to great effect, even against AK47s. The Lee Enfield. A classic !

  • Best rifle of ww2, :D.

  • Shows the real power of war.

  • Nice, lots of patterns go into that:O

  • flinched@ 0:51 not criticizing, just observation.

  • whats the big deal about the enfield action? is it really that light/smooth?

not bashing this rifle or anything- i just have never fired it.

  • fast ,smooth yes ,accurate yes ,most of these old war horses throw very good patterns ,the kick is decent on these too ,meaning u don't need a thick recoil pad ,my only grief about mine is the weight, lugging it through the woods .

  • The Lee Enfield is by far one of the best bolt action rifles you could get. There is a reason it served for almost 80 years with the British Army and is still used today. If you see one in a pawn shop or gun shop, buy it if you can, you will love it. Even if you don't (you will) its a collectors item and a gun collection is not complete with out a Lee Enfield rifle.

  • it is very smooth, just the position of the bolt handle and the design make it very pleasurable to shoot

  • The big thing for me is the fact it cocks the weapon when you push the bolt in. Unlike the mauser and the mosin they cock the weapon when you open the bolt. So the enfield opens faster easier and you are cocking the weapon with a push not a twist. This makes the whole process much easier and faster.

  • Yes, a really nice rifle. Ammunition is getting a little too expensive for extensive shooting.

  • The Lee-Enfield family of rifles is the oldest bolt-action rifle design still in official service! After the contemporary Mosin-Nagant M91/30 was officially retired by the last of the former Communist Bloc in 1998—a testament to both the durability of the original Lee-Enfield design and the influence of the British Empire.

  • nice copypasta

  • kar98k n lee enfield rulez!!!

  • Awesome, one classy gun

  • what a damn sexy gun

  • my grandad shot the fuck out of this gun during the war with greece against turkey and the common wealth

  • I love bolt action rifles. My favorites are: Mosin nagant, Kar98k and this weapon: Lee einfield no. 4. Fuck the asaullt rifles! Bolt action rules!!!

  • Love the sound! I have one along with a Mu=auser K98, but I love the K98 much more, but its all on your personal prefrance.

  • nicest rifle ever!!!!!!

  • This one of the most handsome No4s ever! Beautiful!

  • is the bolt stiff on these rifles, or do they move smoothly not requiring much force, i know it sounds like a stupid question but i have never fired a bolt action rifle before (would like to!) and would like to know

  • the lee enfield has the smoothest bolt action in the world, Mausers have quite a stiff action but this does not increase the accuracy in any way.

  • The action on my two Mausers is actually really smooth, it takes me a fraction of a second to load it, but that is nothing compared to a freind of mine, he reloads it insanely quick, so it can`t be that stiff.

  • i like my k98 alot but if i had to pick just one i would keep my enfield no. 4. great gun.

  • i luv the lee enfield, my fav wep of all time. its my excalibur =D

  • nice. was thinking about getting one of those myself.

  • dont think about it, just do it

  • Bit too aggressive on the bolt, imho

  • where can i get a Lee Enfield No.4 Rifle? ive been looking everywhere for one but cant find one

  • hey umm idk if u have had any luck in finding an lee enfield but your best bet is at a gunshow i have a mk1 no4 its great good luck

  • does anyone know where I can get a scope for my Lee Enfield No.4 mk.2 made in 1949?

Apparently there is a company making replicas of them.

  • Beautiful stock on that gun

  • damn u got the mags..... mine had one but its spring decided to go south on me and new mags are expensive

  • i've seen plenty at cheap prices at the bisley gun show if that helps

  • I want a Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk.II

  • yay 10 rounds of pure fun

  • yep ^^

  • Nice furniture, mine is a little darker and scratched

  • Like to buy No4Lee Enfield no where to get good one?

  • Curious, but any advice on cleaning the lee enfield? I inherited an MK III from my grandfather, and having not owned a rifle before, I'd like to get it cleaned up and repaired, but don't know where to begin.

  • How much shold you pay for a decent lee enfield?

  • I paid $150 for mine. the ammo is getting hard to find

though and runs about $15 for a box of 20 look on line got mil sup 400 rds for $60

  • uh oh! hope your kidding about the ammo being hard to find! i just bought 2 lithgow 303's a few weeks ago! australian lithgow's beautifull, got a 1916 and a 1940, paid $250AU each,

smoothest bolt action ive used to date.

just tring to locate an original style scope to finnish of my 1940, it got the mounts but the scopes missing.

would love a M1, but thanks to my prime minister johnny howard (i did not vote for him) theres not a chance in hell of ownig a semi auto.

  • yeah just check the sports pages on line you should be bale to find ammo from about the same time just make sure you clean the hell out of the gun after you fire it. I'm looking for a scope mount for mine and going to buy new scope I want to be a dead shot with my rifle because I really love the blot action and the ten round mag :D

  • if you look on some of the shots he flinches and pulls his head up

  • Both the SMLE NO.4 and the K98 dont have much kick at all... and yes i have all 3. A M44 has much more kick than any of those.. and even it doesn't have that much.

  • maybe ur just a really big, strong guy.....

  • realy nice wood on that mate.

  • fastest bolt action rifle ever, the british army still use it as a sniper!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think the Mannlicher action is faster and smoother! But yes I think the LAW is still used today by a few brits.

  • Modified ones were used into the 70s IIRC but have now been replaced by Accuracy International.

  • i love that gun

  • K-98 isn't that bad... by the way- thanks for uploading this.

  • real safe getting the shot standing in front of him...

  • sexiist gun ever!!

  • Im not saying the K98 isnt strong. Im just saying it pales in comparison to the SMLE and NO.4

  • Hi there.

Never fired a rifle before but i'm going out to Dubai in a couple on months to finally fufil that. I'm actually left handed and i'm curious as to how left handers fire rifles when catridges are extracted out the left I.E into my face. Excuse the noobiness.

  • Its not so bad. They tend to fly out forwards in front of your face depending on the rifle. A straight bolt handle is easier to cycle if your a lefty...you don't have to bend your wrist as awkwardly ;)

@Paeleologos...there is a reason why you can chamber a K98 action for .375 H&H or .458 WinMag, and even higher...it is incredibly strong!!!

P.S. James Paris Lee, the SMLE's original inventor, was a Canadian! :L

  • quite a lot of recoil

ou have to fire right handed no matter what

  • K98 is shit compared to the SMLE and MK4.

  • damn quick bolt action on that gun

  • I love that gun so much..lol

    Nice vid.

  • ah the lee enfield, its still in use scince 1907!! woo i like the lee enfield, ive used a deactivated one but tht was awsome!! lee enfields rule!!

  • You were snatching the trigger something terrable, didn't even look like you took up the first stage.

  • Excellent Gun , i need some for kill a the president of my country!

  • That's against the law to even say. Good going.

  • the enfield has way better sights

  • A few years later (1980 as it happens) I was commissioned into the Commandos and went to the same ranges, using an SLR. I didn't score any higher with the SLR (L1A1)- which actually has a shorter sight radius compared to the SLR.

  • As a 16 year old cadet on camp in Sennybridge wales, our lads easily beat some regular Fusiliers armed with SLRs (FAL L1A1) on an IBSR (Individual Battle Skills Range), an electronic range, where targets appear at different ranges and fall when hit and you alternate between fire positions and then do an advance down the range.

  • Very nice.

  • Stripper clip routine is also clunky. Keep the thumb to the rear of the clip running against the 2 edges and use lots of force, it should be smooth, when the rounds are home, just flick up the thumb ejecting the clip with friction from the side of the thumb.

  • Technique is a tad wrong - British military were trained to keep the rifle in the shoulder, not drop the butt at all, keep the cheeck into the stock and operate the bolt thus. This is faster.

  • Correct Nick! I have seen a number of Lee Enfield videos on U Tube & many firers do not position th erifle tight into the shoulder. If it is positioned correctly the potential rate of fire is amazing. As a general rule, British soldiers had to be able to fire 45 rnds per minute. Many could exceed this rate. An awesome rifle and beautiful to shoot.
