  • We become desensitized by the amount of watches and warnings, this is what happens when that happens. Grew up in Webb City and know Rangeline all too well. We were on our way back to N.W.MO. from a police training exercise in OK. when we outran this on I-44 in our Police Interceptor. Did 136mph due to the angle & was gaining on us. Went back afterward & stayed for 20+hrs helping people in recovery efforts. This was a mile wide & had peak winds 200-250mph. The only safe that day was underground.

  • I was in this tornado as well at Springview Gardens Apartments by St. John's Hospital that was destroyed. I was barely missed by 1 1/2 blocks. I've never been so scared in my life. I had no basement. My bedroom, closets, and bathroom were located next to exterior walls. I had only one place to take cover and that was my hallway. Unfortunately I had a window at the end of my hallway but by the grace of God it stayed intact along with the roof. I had only one broken window.

  • this is shocking footage this is what chasing is all about helping people i live in portugal but i respect nature i hope they made it alive god bless those people who made it

  • I don't know how they can see the tornado when everything is so dark.

  • @elainebmack It's probably just the camera. They must see better with their eyes.

  • Damn. Bad storm

  • The person right at the end of the video, was he badly hurt? When you see a person coming out of a destroyed building like that, its like something out of a movie. Just watching that few seconds really gets to you. Thank you for your courage and humanaterianism!

  • This video gave me chills and once again brought tears to my eyes. You both have such fear in your voices. I couldn't imagine seeing my town flattened by mother nature in such a way. You both are very brave.

  • Thanks for putting people above the "Shot". Nice to see storm chasers with their priorities straight. Not everyone does. CHEERS to you!

  • Thank you for helping people!

  • Very professional job to you both. You stayed on the path of the tornado and helped when you were needed. The world needs more people like you!

  • We have not sold one second of our footage. If you see any of our video out there...we have donated it for Joplin. There are no pictures of us helping people or of us taking pictures of each other hugging people. People matter. People deserve respect. In times of trouble, always do the right thing, you won't be sorry, even if no one else knows.

  • That is why we STOPPED chasing, put our cameras DOWN, and started taking people to the hospital. No amount of money for footage or recognition could ever compare to the people's lives that were being changed in that moment. Remember that.

  • I don't know what all of these recent comments are about "helping people comes second". I am sickened by the lust for video footage and the money grubbing and media pandering that goes with it. Let us put this straight...People ALWAYS come FIRST.

  • You guys need to stfu. I'll be perfectly honest, I hate people as much as the next person, probably more, but how could someone NOT help? Even people I know and absolutely loathe I would not hesitate to pull them from the wreckage. Sean and his wife deserve a bit more respect than you're giving them. They helped save the lives of these people and I'm sure the survivors are very grateful to them. For that they have my respect.

  • dumb and dumber.

  • ......wow this is hard to watch

  • @kdolo100 Coming from a guy who has a pet spider named Sooki, I wouldn't think you'd be able to offer much help anyway.

  • @darkcrimson23 I take it u probably have arachnaphobia. I certainly wouldn't put my camera down 2 help u.

  • @kdolo100 You're what high school dropouts become 10 years later. Hardly qualified to be chasing tornados...

  • @darkcrimson23 Son,i'm a honorably discharged Marine. Aside from that i know more about them than u think. You're harldy worth saving in any situation. Go figure.

  • @kdolo100 I highly doubt that. I'm a 2 tour veteran who served 8 years in the Marine corps. Bravo Company, third tank battalion.

  • @darkcrimson23 Well that makes two of us.1833-Amphib Assault for me. 2nd battalion Alpha Co. Nevertheless helping people comes second in such a case like this.

  • @0:27 hahaha that's not a tornado it's a reflection of something in your window. idiots.

  • it is crazy that sound ,is that still the monster tornado yall can hear making it? friggin creepy!

  • good video, baaad day, still "i stopped gosh" was kinda funny ^.^'

  • God bless both of you.

  • You guys are beyond amazing for stopping and helping.

  • wow this video is intense. brought me to tears. god bless both of you <3

  • i was in the 15th street walmart during this... about 2 blocks from where your video ended. I want to give you guys so much props that you went down Rangeline DURING the tornado to help save people. You are both selfless, We in Joplin can't thank you enough. God bless you.

  • Trish, would you STOP..! Gosh! XD

  • Sean and Wife :) thank you for sharing this video. It literally brought me to tears. This day is forever burned into my memory. Pay no attention to the haters and crazy comments. You two were kind enough to stop and help those who needed it right away. Again thanks for posting this. It's a true image of humanity.

  • You did the right thing. At some point storm chasing takes a backseat. Thank God for both of you. You are truly good people.

  • 2:14 Is my dads store

  • WOW! MADE MY EYES WELL UP AND GAVE ME CHILLS WATCHING!

  • Great coverage of a horrible tragedy! It amazes me how the human spirit lashes out to people who put their lives in harms way to document this tornado and make it a lesson to all of us! May God bless you for the work you do and for helping countless human lives! And please....ignore ignorance!

  • at 1:45 that building was Chick fil a.. I worked their but it's rebuilt now :) But man that's so scary to watch. I had jus left graduation an was going opposite direction these people were filming in. We may have passed them. we were drving for our lifes literally as it was chasing us

  • My entire immediate and extended family lives here. I just thank God that there were people like you there willing to help when some of us were not able to be with them until the next morning after traveling to get to them. You are both good samaritans. Thank you and God bless you!

  • Sean and trisha I really admire you guys.you guys were sincerely worry about the people needing help. You guys are what the spirit of America really is. Thank you!!!

  • Stupid driver! Stop filming and get your ass out the car and help!

  • excellent video guys great job helping too! it would have been cool if you left one of you're cameras running but still excellent footage.

  • wow that must be hard to see people hurt like that. you two are very brave! i probablly would break down crying from seeing those hurt people. your wife is very caring, asking if people need help. i would probablly be the same way... good job sean and trisha!

  • I just want to say that it was very brave what you guys did. I came across an ad on CL of a woman who lost her daughter and her home in this tornado and was looking for a home and it made it all too real what these people went through. I myself have a love for severe weather, but I can't even imagine this type of devastation. I had a funnel pass through my town, didn't touch down, but just hunkering in the bathroom with my mom and daughter made me realize just how quick your life could change.

  • Sean i must say, its people like you that inspire me to become a storm chaser. Proud to hear of your efforts to helping the people that needed it.

  • thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i survived this stupid storm, but the haters are all losers anyway, they are pathic

  • As with all those who were on the scene or raced to Joplin from the surrounding areas, you saved lives that day. Thanks for stepping outside of yourselves to serve the injured.

  • Don't worry about the ignorant negative comments. I was a spotter in the Chicago area for years before moving to Arizona and understand the stress in a real life situation such as Joplin. My aunts house was destroyed in a F4 tornado in Marion, IL in 1982. Keep up the good work and stay safe.

  • God Bless you both for helping that day

  • Incredible footage! I can't imagine how hard it would be to drive upon such a terrible situation. Thank You for your courage and dedication and helping any way you could. I'm sure the people you helped will remember your kindness!

  • What amazing people you two are , I live in georgia and we went through a very bad storm not to long ago ourselfs. Thabk God I didnt syffer any damage , but many people did. Thank God for you two and the help that you guys gave. The world needs more people like you. I am on facebook and you could find me at georgiaman0@yahoo.com I would be honored to have you as a my friend on there. God Bless the both of you.

  • Bless you both.

  • I just wanted to say that I met Sean about 12 years ago and wanted to say that I knew he's been chasing storms then as well and finishing up his Meteorology degree at that time if not finished. I also wanted to say that Sean and his wife are very kind and great people and it's definitely an honor to know them. What they did in this video that I saw was an absolute heart felt moment and I appreciate what they did. It makes guys like me feel good about knowing what I'm still fighting for.

  • Thank you for what you do.

  • lots of people are afraid of helping, but everyone knows the reward of it. Its a blessing when you stop and help people. Just watch the movie (pay it forward)

  • I have been a volunteer firefighter for 7 years now and I think what you did was awesome! I don't care what that other firefighter said, he does NOT speak for all of us! You helped so many people and that is what they should be looking at! A lot of unsung heros were made this day and i believe you 2 were among those! Thank you for helping our community!

  • God bless you two for risking your lives and fOr helping the nice people of Joplin.

  • WOW I live here in Joplin and just got net back. I was blessed but I too went to help. me and husband couldn't make it hardly anywhere so we went to Memorial hall where many many victims were brought...God Bless you both... I couldn't believe reading this that a firefighter would say that... but pray for him too... thank you much for all ur help and love!!!

  • May god remember what you did. Thank you for showing the true human spirit, love.

  • I just want to say that yall did a GREAT job out there. Yall did what yall were supposed to do out of respect for the injured....Thank you so very much for helping the people of my home town...I am very proud that you were there to help them....to the hater.....get a life and live it the best you can because you never know when an F5 is going to hit your home town and destroy everything you have and maybe even take your life....GOD BLESS

  • I can hear the concern & compassion in both your voices. I don't think ANYONE could have known the magnitude of this nightmare. All you naysayers would have probably been hiding & scared out of your wits (like most of us) versus stopping to help the injured in the middle of it all. God bless you two, and God bless Joplin.

  • Bless you for stopping and helping when that put your own lives in danger. My family is in Joplin and thankfully they are ok.

  • It sickens me no matter what horrible thing is on Youtube there are always snide comments.

With all due respect with all the damage, it seems crazy to me that you continued driving but I understand you were looking for victims.

There's no greater thing to do than help someone in trouble.

  • first off, I am sorry for all the unkind words others have written; what a shame. I won't however, let it take away from the pride I felt watching two people who are obviously kind and caring human beings whose attention turned from storm chasing to helping those in need. God Bless you both and stay safe.

  • @uplaterthanishouldbe I had no desire to continue to video the tornado. We were in the RFD and being pelted by hail and debris....I wanted to make sure the tornado was moving on and the RFD with it. Not only that....we had power lines all around us. Just thought you might want to know.

  • incredible video! you 2 are heros!

  • Wow, what a sudden shock. Glad you guys didn't get caught up in it. Did you come across anyone who was killed?

  • God bless you two.

  • I finally found some time to write...My wife has the kindest, biggest heart of anyone I know...not just on this tragic day but everyday. On this day she laid everything on the line to help people she didn't know and there was no quit in her. Through the mayhem she remained strong. It's not easy especially when you see another human being damaged and near death. I'm proud to have Trish as my wife. She was a real trooper and had more concern for others than she did her own safety.

  • @seanwilson7 Iam from Joplin, lived here almost all my life.Stopping by to say THANK YOU from me and others here. MUCH appreciation and good work!

  • @seanwilson7 during such times our emotions are always at peak. ive chased before, trust me when i say you two did just fine.

Thank you for helping those people.

  • @seanwilson7 bless your kind hearts,we look down on people like u,you are amazing,at helping people.

  • @1975mikker I respect your jobs as firefighters but you don't know these people and Sean is very professional in this line of work and has done it for many years, he knows what he is doing. Apparently you didn't watch the video close enough, because he never chose video taping over helping people. If they weren't on the road, they wouldn't have been able to help others, because you wouldn't have been able to do it all in that situation by yourself. Be grateful!!!!

  • @1975mikker This is Trisha, Sean's wife. First, let me say, Sean has been chasing professionally for 12 years. Was lead chaser for NBC in KC for 5 years (you can verify that if you want) He has had video shown on Discovery, Weather Channel, CBS, BBC, Etc. Enough of that! Now...Why would you criticize people that stopped to help? Ask yourself why there is NO video of us helping...we put DOWN our cameras and helped! Ask the 25 to 30 people we got to the hospital if we got in the way? Be kind.

  • @seanwilson7 Well said.! Sean Knows Me. Im one of the StormChasers That were actually on that Storm. The only thing Different is that I was In the Path. Looking East At It. I went South and It passed Right By Me. I Cut My Chase To Help As Well. But My Point is There are People out There That Have No Knowledge Of Chasing Or Even Chasers Themselves. And they Have The Nerve To Criticize How Professional StormChasers Work. Dont Explain Yourself To People Like That.!

  • @omarrianowilson9 Because People Like that Are Just Ignorant. I sometimes Dont even Waste My Time.

  • @seanwilson7 Thanks Trish for caring and being more concerned with helping than video taping. I hope to marry somebody with your kind and caring heart. You are a lucky man Sean.

  • @seanwilson7 That Is True Storm Chasing... You Did Exactly What I Would Have Done.... Thank You

  • @1975mikker Like it was said before, get off your high horse. He stopped right where the damage began. As for them "getting in your way", don't think so. You can't even begin to imagine the magnitude of the impacted area. That first week there were police, firemen, soldiers, and any kind of volunteers you could imagine there doing search and rescue. Maybe you and your wife should make some career choices.

  • @1975mikker If you two are firefighters in a metro area, then I feel for those you decide whether or not to help.

I guarantee that neither one of you have any experience in dealing first-hand with a disaster of this magnitude. In the future, you might want to consider the old Mark Twain adage - Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

When you aren't there, and you don't know the situation, don't say what should or should not be done.

  • @1975mikker Your right at some point.... I was in a tornado and had injured people around me, when we finly got through to 911 ( it took a hour) they tell us they cant get anyone there to us, that there are to many calls. They took our address and injuries and said it could be 45 minutes to an hour and hung up on us, and guess what? It was a storm chaser who took the injured to the hospital.

  • @1975mikker LAME!!! The entire city is gone..but all you worry about are two folks taking video and helping people, and "hindering" your job? WTF? I don't believe you are professional firefighters! Screw you! if you think I would sit there and wait for your ass to get in the fire truck and come find me. Oh..wait I will find the nearest smashed up phone booth in a tree and call you to tell you there was a Tornado! Thats if there is still a fire station left! Sean and Trisha are cool people!

  • Brave Angels doing good amongst sad, angry, missing links. You two did an incredible job. I'm impressed by your love for others.

  • It's so easy for idiots with their fat asses sitting in their in-tact homes in front of their computer to criticize an intense 'in the moment' piece of video like this. Change places with this couple at that moment you haters, and lets see YOUR video and YOUR pitiful reaction.

  • Comment removed

  • Sean and Trish, they are scumbags, you are Heroes. Thank you for helping the victims of this incredible weather event.

As I write this, we are in yet another outbreak with the threat of more hits on highly populated areas.

  • Most human beings are fortunate to never find themselves in this situation. Until you've been "there" you can't possibly comprehend the surge of adrenalin, the disbelief and horror and the shock that you are suddenly faced with.

There will always be small minds that will make fun of this sort of thing.

Don't waste your time worrying about their responses. Now that you have gone through this, those little people aren't even in your same league.

Thank you for sharing that very intense moment.

  • You guys did a great service for makind in helping out people in need. If their is a higher power, he or she was watching and will repay in many ways in the future. GOD BLESS people like you. Putting yourselfs in harms way to help others!! YOU GUYS ARE HEROS!!!

  • I gasp when I see the video, I hope the people are half of them come healing, the fear was in this video to spühren significantly greet from Germany

  • wow you guys are amazing I live down in oklahoma this world needs more people like you guys.Im sure everyone you heled was very thankfull.

  • Thanks guys for help those people on that situation your are a real heroes God bless

  • somebody ought to put the fat thumb beotch in a chair all tied up right smack dab in the middle of the next F5 tornado that hits america..... that'll shut her the hell up for sure

  • I was in Stroud, Oklahoma when the first tornado of the 2011 season hit. I noticed a very strange thing - There were TWO groups of people. The first were the scared folks outside running for shelter. The second was the group AT THE VERY SAME DOOR that was pushing to get out and video the tornado for themselves. I have never seen such idiocy! I won't knock you for lending a hand, but what the hell were you two doing driving around outside DURING the storm with your camcorders? Tornado = SHELTER!

  • thank you for setting your cameras down and stopping to help people; you were heros to them... god bless. prayers go out to Joplin!

  • I am glad that you were there to help out other people after the storm hit. I would not be caught anywhere near the path of that tornado. You risked yourself and your wife your lives to help out others...it's a very rare thing that people would do in this world.

  • when you going through something like this and you see all the devastation of buildings that was once there all you can say is OMG me and my husband went to our mother in laws house to check on her after the tornado went through lawrence county AL on april 27th and that all i could say was OMG OMG before you been in that situation dont ridicule others...........Thanks for being good hearted people and helping out others!!!!

  • What time of day did this happen again? It looks like night...so scary! How many people did you help? Could you bring them to the local hospital....it looked destroyed :-(

  • Thank you so much for sharing this with us! I am very happy that you were there to help injured people! I feel helpless watching this! I am proud of you two for stepping up and helping out! I think you handled the whole thing very well! Ill keep you and the people you helped in my thoughts!

  • This is Trisha..the "annoying one". I have to say I am SHOCKED there are haters during a time of tragedy. Really? That is what you get out of this? I really don't care that you are bothered by me being scared..It WAS scary! It WAS intense. I screamed because an electrical wire hit our car! Sean was trying to calm me down. He is my hero. I honestly don't care what the video picked up. I care about the people we picked up and got safely to the hospital. Please be nice, this is a time to care.

  • @seanwilson7 I'm so glad you're both okay! I've been glued to the news and then remembered that I stayed with you guys and you had a channel on here! Thanks for sharing the video! Trisha, I just love your heart! And you have no reason to be ashamed that you were scared and concerned, I probably would have been screaming even more than that! God bless you for spending all that time transporting hurting people! They were very blessed to have you near!

  • @seanwilson7 Trisha, you were NOT annoying. I am sure anyone would be scared in that situation and of course you would have to put the camera down to actually help people! It was a blessing that you were there at that time to help people.I could hear it in your voice that you were sincerely concerned for others. I want to tell both of you Great Job being there for others when they felt confused and alone.

  • @seanwilson7 you guys did great .. dont let the assholes and scum of the earth pull your spirits down.. people hide behind the computer and think there all high and mighty its the cowards who wouldnt help anyone in the time of need that hide and make comments its good people like your self who are out there helping ... dont let there comments get to you thats what they want.. be strong and go on .. its the good people who know what you guys did and are doing that matter ...

  • @mustang69250 one day when there lives are turned upside down in tragedity.. they will be the ones asking for help and i hope they reflect on all there bad comments and ass hole ways and no one helps them cause they disserve it... once again great job guys you both have big hearts !!!!! be safe

  • @seanwilson7 good work, i was on the other side of it where the video ends. we were lucky that it changed heading and took a south bound heading over I 44. thanks for stopping to help folks.

  • I think you guys are beautiful and amazing for helping people, I am grateful there are people like you in the world. So many people would turn around and go home, but you are the "good samaritan" - bless your heart and soul! You were like angels to the people you helped, never forget that. PS - please look into HAARP and chemtrails used as weather modification involved in this and Tuscaloosa - and check out dutchsinse channel on youtube.

  • Calm down Sean, she was annoying. hayseeds...

  • thats sad.. thank you for being there to help.

  • Honestly, the damage I have seen looks eerily similar to how bad Greensburg, KS hit.

  • God bless both you and your wife my friend. Glad to see humans helping humans, as the world can be quite an evil place at times. I don't even know what I'd do if I happened upon such a horrific scene such as this.

  • How awful. I have read a lot of posts on this tragedy from people that were there. Kudos to you and your wife for acting quickly and helping those who needed it. Seems your wife was more concerned for everyone else than the safety of you and herself. Such bravery!

  • Sean and Trish we are sending prayers to both of you! Please be careful and keep in contact with us so we know how you are doing. We love you two so much! Dana

  • wow big hearts and i appriciate you two...... @kaylee u need to be tossed into this situation and see what your reaction is im sure u would just drive by or be hiding pathetically in ur car in the fetal position take ur negative bs to twitter or facebook, its not needed here

  • Comment removed

  • @seanwilson7 Thank you so much for all that you do; for risking your lives to learn more about these destructive storms so that we can better predict these beasts. You and your wife are amazing, brave people. The work you do does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Thank you so very, very much. I know that there are people in Joplin that will be forever grateful that you were there directly after in those critical moments in the chaos.

  • I thought she was great. I would have appreciated someone coming by that cared enough to help.

  • Thanks Sean and Trish for helping and not just passing through! You two have great hearts and I'm thankful you two were able to help!

  • Im sure you would have been very low key in the immediate aftermath of a tornado that killed 89 people Kaylee. Absolute idiotic post; perhaps you should change your user id to "KayleeHasShitforBrains" .

  • @JohnWahlers

    well said...well said!!!

  • It's too bad that think that people think that an Angel trying to help people that need it is annoying.

  • My wife was just like yours always first asking how she could help. Good person. Never mind the Fat thumbs person. Seems just like a fat mouth.

  • I will reitterate on what my uncle said. My aunt Trisha is a very strong, caring woman. And I will say...in that type of situation I would probably react in the same manner. She has been there for my family as of late....and no matter how "annoying" you think she was in this video...I want you to put yourself in that type of situation and see if you don't react the same way. My guess is you would drive right on by....

  • @KayleeHasFatThumbs You have alot of nerve. This is my wife that worked for hours putting compresses on bleeding people and held small children on her lap as we drove with a packed SUV to the hospital. You obviously don't have a clue what it is like to see this kind of damage and to know that people's lives have just changed forever and that others have just lost their lives. Please be kind.

  • @seanwilson7 Thank God you guys were there to help, but it still doesn't change the fact that she is quite annoying.

  • @KayleeHasFatThumbs You are really rude. What if you were in a tornado and they saved your life or helped you? Don't ever condemn those who are willing to risk their lives for others. I will pray that your heart attitude will change and that you will be fortunate enough to never experience what they saw yesterday.

  • @KayleeHasFatThumbs And how have you helped tornado victims? Oh...you haven't because you're too busy writing mean comments on youtube.

  • @KayleeHasFatThumbs And I grant you that you would be the first one to crap your pants, pee yourself and start calling for your mommy. I'd like to hear audio of what you'd be like in the middle of a disaster of this size right as it unfolds in front of you. Your post tells us everything we need to know about you and your ignorance. You'll never be able to do in your entire life what these two people did in one afternoon for many unknown others. Think before you speak, moron.

  • @KayleeHasFatThumbs I actually thought she showed real concern for the victims. She deserves more respect than you with your inmature and mean-spirited post.

  • Thank you for helping those people. My heart goes out to everyone who lives there. This is so sad.
