"Because," lyrics by Edward Teschemacher, music by Guy d'Hardelot a/k/a Helen Rhodes. Published in 1902. It was a big hit.
Because you came to me, with naught save love, and hold my hand and lift mine eyes above, a brighter world of hope and joy I see, because you came to me. Because you speak to me in accent sweet, I find the roses waking `round my feet, and I am drawn through tears and joy to thee, because you speak to me...

has anyone figured out the chords to this yet? I see a wide range in there, though I could swear it's a B, F, G rotation with a bunch of 7ths and #'s thrown in. Also looks like an A6 is used in that micro-bridge halfway through the second chorus... it's hard to tell from the video though. I'm assuming it's standard tuning?
Cheers for the response! It's only a matter of time before someone motivated enough figures it out. Knowing it's in standard tuning helps a lot... James is used to playing in a different tuning (low-A 'Canadian' tuning) right?
For those of you who are curious, this song is much, much older than you. It has been performed by many greats, including old school performers (Enrico Caruso, and Mario Lanza portraying him), Perry Como, and more recently Andrea Bocelli. Youtube has the lot!
Great song. I like his voice on this song. Does anybody remember when he didn't sing at all. I mean I can understand that it was just nerves but his voice is really nice

James tunes his uke "standard" one step up.
ADFB. So listening and watching can be
misleading.
