first I 100% agree that online poker should be legalized. That said, there is a lot of money laundering that goes on. Say you win a big tournament in stead of cashing out and then being honest and reported your winnings and paying the TAX, many sell their chips to people so they can avoid the tax man. OR some of these poker companies will pay players to ware their logos (for example) and then buy them into tournaments again circumventing the tax man. They kinda slit their own throats IMO.
@MrChamp134 You sound like someone who has only filed a typical tax returns. Any money or items (gifts etc..) totaling over 10,000 dollars is taxable. Could be multiple gifts or payments that equal 10,000 or more or a single gift, or payment over 10,000 is taxable. Period.

@checkcall123 yes actually. If your given a gift or a bonus or any item or moneys that is (or if multiple totals) over 10,000 your "suppose" to pay taxes on it. Slight tangent for an example. Those award shows where the actors get those gift bags. They tend to have more the 10,000 dollars in value, those items become taxable. If I sponsor someone in a tournament or multiple tournaments through the year and those buy-ins total more then 10,000 bucks, that becomes taxable.

Online poker grew too fast. There wasn't time for legislative framework to be put in place and now governments want a piece of the pie. In the short term it sucks that growth will be stifled but, legislation is necessary to bring poker to the masses. In a couple of years time we will probably see poker platforms that cater to customers accross a few countries but, this kind of infrastructure takes time.
When poker is licenced in the US it will be intra-state and not on a federal level.

and the winners cheat than.. iknow its rigged ..but thats no problem just need to read the rigg stehoz if u say its not rigged i believe ur not smart and therefor a loosing player.. onlined is moore mathematical and photographic memory thats make its easier to count the cards.. if u cant count cards u will loose no matter what if its rigged or not..

Online poker grew too fast. There wasn't time for legislative framework to be put in place and now governments want a piece of the pie. In the short term it sucks that growth will be stifled but, legislation is necessary to bring poker to the masses. In a couple of years time we will probably see poker platforms that cater to customers accross a few countries but, this kind of infrastructure takes time.
When poker is licenced in the US it will be intra-state and not on a federal level.

No, it was made to sway the perception and reasoning of why online gambling is illigal. Gaming operations want it legal for one reason, your money. I'm for banning online gaming and wish for a day when people would be happy with what they have instead of risking it all on the roll of dice or the flip of a card. Hypocritical? If you play and have not written to your congressional rep you had better do so. it is still legal to bet on horses and state lottery online. why not poker? They call this the land of the free and we are to my knowledge the ONLY country that tells its citizens they cannot play poker online.
