  • could have spared me the first 60 seconds nigel

  • well worth the wait. Magpies are so clever, they never swoop me anymore. I put that down to either luck or evolution.

  • I'm sure telling it to sing and making random clicking noises will clue it in that you want it to sing

  • Sing for me you butt (: I like magpies

  • ehm, thats robot spy from an another planet

  • go to 00:56 to hear bird sing

  • wow, it's a pokemon!!!

  • its probably telling him to shut the fuck up

  • he sounds like a modem

  • @WeCannabis I reckon old bruceeeeboy needs to throttle a few bongs to help him get down to a level of natural conciousness with this obviously bored shitless Magpie visitor.

Go to frozzytoobz channel and check out a 6 minute Aussie Magpie song by Crippy the amazingly friendly arm perching magpie.

Copy and paste these titles to look at Crippy

"Crippy,an amazingly friendly Aussie Magpie, carolling for about 6 mins"

"Wild Magpie flying up to perch on me arm like a trained eagle"

  • @WeCannabis He sounds like the fax dial up.lol

  • Maybe you could have called the video "Magpie Not Singing".

  • Awww, that is so cute! Thanks for sharing. :)

  • i was thinkin more along the lines of surfin bird? maybe i was asking a little too much :/

  • Geez, I think you could've left off the first 50 seconds of your video.....to the point just before he finally sang.... just my opinion, Mate.

  • it sounds like a machine...

    but it's cute!

  • @ 0:53 is when the lovely starts singing

  • So thats what makes that noise! Magpies in the Uk sound like machine guns! haha

  • Lord, what lovely birds. Wish we had them here in the desert.

  • "Thank you". Hahaha... so polite. Sitting here watching random stuff on YouTube with my family and we all liked this one. :)

  • What a lovely bird!

  • click 00:58 fro the singing part.

  • If you listen closely you can hear another Magpie call right before this one

  • Is it just me, or does that sound like a computer?

  • Best song ever

  • She wont sing just like that for you, mate. You'll have to buy her dinner first!!!

  • @deepestblue81 I gave Crippy a bit of snag and she carolled for 10 frikkin minutes.

    you train birds..

  • this is my favorite species of bird.

  • Wow this is cool ! The magpie is very fearless (and a bit of a thief, lol) but their song is so music and different,I love them !

  • Lovely!

  • Your magpie is awesome. Do you own it or it come to your home everyday like my magpie.

  • Very unique song they have hey, sounds great.

  • wow i have never heard the sound of a magpie before. they are my favorite birds we have them where i live. i have never heard one though. it sounds so neat. thank you for showing us.

  • Oh, this is so cute and lovely, I've never seen or heard such a talented bird in my life.

Love this video! I'm afraid these wonderful magpies are in danger...hope not...

  • their beautiful.

  • what a strange noise

  • They're so amaznig!

In America they.. um don't live. Haha, so I never hear or see them.

They're my favourite bird though. (:

  • skip to 59 secs to hear the call

  • It got there in the end! And meanwhile we got a good look at it. Lovely video.

  • Cute!!!

  • I think that magpie is broken.

  • lol i laughed so hard

  • It sounds like R2-D2!

  • Beautiful bird, is it a corvid like the magpies in Europe?

  • What kind of camera were you using to capture this video? It's crystal clear in sound and quality of photography. Did your Magpie have any blue within it's sides and tail feathers?

  • I love this video of the Magpie. The first one I ever saw in real life was when I was in the Chengde mountains (100 miles north of Beijing) of China. I was roaming around the old temples and had this one Magpie following me around. It had the longest tail with beautiful blue markings within its feathers. This one is gorgeous! ~ Patty

  • I liked the part with the magpie.

  • after all that...he wants his bread

  • lol 1:00 don't waste your time xD

  • that's awesome. I had a pet magpie when I was young - very smart and funny birds, and a joy to wake up to their calls.

  • LOL

    "Thank you!"

  • What a magpie is this?

Here in germany we have the eupopean magpie ("pica pica") and it sounds so terrible. D:

  • Cool!!! Well worth the wait!

  • beautiful what nature, evolution and a little time can produce.

  • Magpies....natural fax machines.

  • They look like Rooks. The Beak is different and so is the Plumage Colour compared to here in Ireland.

  • no magpies in the US unfortunately for me cus I want one as a pet

  • Wow that bird sounded like R2D2 bahaha that's awesome

  • Wow i never realized how different Australian magpies looked from the ones here in canada.

  • lol, that bird sounds fake!

  • I'm glad the magpies are gone... they fuckin swoop ya

  • @jamesarongray - only between August and November while they're nesting, and even then only a minority of magpies actually do it.

  • Damn bird, ignoring him like some albino on the street.

  • Lovely!, look my Magpie ;)

    urraca-picapica.blogspot.c

  • nice bird native birds are going because indain miners take their homes thats why and delvopment as well as trees been cut down.

  • I love Maggies. They always taunt my dogs by coming up to the front door and staring at them through the glass. It's hilarious.

Although, I hate the Magpies on the footy gound :D

  • australian magpies are distinctly different from european magpies?

  • "allright, I did it, now go get me some food!"

  • Amazing. :)

You should hear my magpie... je je

  • Aw, it sang for you! If you work out where the boundary of its territory is, you'll hear it singing a lot more there.

  • They're my favourite birds too, but I think maybe humans are hand-feeding them way too much. They're getting too fat in all the videos and that's not healthy.

  • I thought the same thing about the magpies...like "he's kind of big" :)

  • What a well fed maggie, and the quietest l've come across.

  • That's a good bird.

  • I miss the Maggies. They used to be everywhere here in Western Sydney, but I never hear them any more.

  • I know what you mean, a lot of birds ad animals are disappearing with more and more homes being built, where I live I used to hear the cows mooing in the mornings, and I don;t hear them anymore ..... maybe they moooo'ved :-))

  • @brucebv ......I'm not sure whether to give that a thumb up or thumb down lol

  • @verticalsmurf be careful, they can peck your eyes out

  • @verticalsmurf you need less sqaure footage and more trees.

  • I live in an area where 40 years ago developers decided to remove most of the larger trees and replace them with Bottlebrushes. The remaining eucalypts survived for a while, but were cut down after storm damage, died during the drought or were poisioned because they were messy. Continued.

  • @310sucks - I'd love to plant some new Eucalypts in my yard, but as much as I miss the birds, the roots would screw up my foundations and plumbing. If you could point me in the direction of a ecualypt that wouldn't do too much damage to my house, I'll love you forever.

  • not sure about the australian magpie but the european loves built up areas...theyre more shy in country side areas :) so dont worry about more houses and magpies!@verticalsmurf

  • @verticalsmurf - They joined up with Balmain a few years ago and became the Wests Tigers.

  • @verticalsmurf Proabably because modern suburbs are all about massive houses with no trees.

  • ...ihre Majestät wünscht nicht zu singen.....

  • My favorite bird and bird call!

Cocky little things, Maggies, ^^ No matter where I go, there's always a resident Maggie attempting to cozy its way into our lives for freebies.

Not that we do, its the birdbath and the occasional stale loaf, but they're obviously well-fed anyway. They know where to look, thats for sure.

  • That was short but amazing. ))

  • what a nice bird and what a voice ! Do they belong to the crows ?

  • Sing for us!!!!

    Beautiful bird!

  • hahaha. do people really think it sound like sci fi? i spose it does a little but i grew up with these in my backyard. they have amazing voices

  • Dios mio parecen sonidos salidos de alguna máquina extraña, solo en Australia y Nueva Zelanda podemos encontrar rarezas

  • Carn the Pies!!!

  • I love Magpies, especially when you hear them really early in the morning, such beautiful creatures!

  • @thecharlotteness they sound like crows where i live and eveyone hates them... they look cool though

  • woah, that is one weird bird call! it does remind me of sci-fi movie sound effects too. awesome

  • He's not stupid- he was only going to sing if really needed!

  • 0:58 till he opens his gob!!

WOW!!!!! its like them sounds you hear in a sci-fi movie!!!

    amazing dude!!

  • I was starting to get annoyed but it was worth the wait thats unreal!

  • He/she thought it was a food deal, some song and food would be delivred, heshe was disappointed when u didnt immediatly deliver it afterwards.

  • Should ahve shortened the vid, but it was still worth it. Cool magie!

  • love the video mate i have two smaller ones come everyday and most the day for over one year now good little maggies coewee

  • Thanks for your comments. I originally posted this for my brother-in-law in the UK who wanted a recording of an Australian Magpie singing as we couldn't find any on the internet. As well as the magpie's, we also get some beautiful lorikeets come every day for their feed. A friend also has some kookaburra's visit her every morning that take food from her hand.

  • Amazing! I have never heard that before! Thank you for posting. I've just learned about shrikes. I have one living nearby and found a dead finch in the yard. Came across your video while exploring bird topics! You're blessed! When young, my family adopted a baby blue jay. He was free to fly around the neighborhood all day and came flying back in to sleep in his cage. That was very special. I never thought of magpies as beautiful. Aren't they commonly used in folklore in a negative connotation?

  • Hi Bruce, Thanks for the recording. The real sound of Australia!!

    Tim
