  • Well, in hindsight, I realize that your focus is on working through the parts, so, cool. The dynamics of the guitar tonalities is the fine tuning we do once the passage becomes second nature. One of these days I'll grab a guit and sit down and try to work thru it with the help of this and other vids. One of my favorite solos/songs-especially live-when he bends it like West.

  • If I critique you I feel like I'll get quartered-if not by you-your viewers, Ha! Great choice of cover. Beautiful song-no one writes shtuff like this anymore. Here goes-bring your clean and overdrive tones closer together. I wonder if maybe he merely backed off on the volume in the rythmn channel for the 'clean' verses. If memory serves me, the notes really spill out like there is some overdrive there but not full-on of course. Neck pick-up maybe? Do appreciate RR and your efforts here!

  • @bugietube hahaha, don't worry, I don't mind critiques/constructive criticisms at all, and I don't think the other viewers will mind either. I think you're right though, it sounds to me that's what he did too in his live playing, that the 'clean' tone was just his overdrive at a lower volume and then switched back and forth with the pickup/toggle switch. And thanks for the appreciation!

  • you are the best youtube guitarist who plays without a backing track of somekind... and btw.. you get this a lot but you look like cliff.. xD

  • @thrasherlml thanks a lot, yeah I'm actually kind of surprised there aren't more unaccompanied guitar videos out there than there currently are, they seem to be few and far between.

  • @ahenn84 well i would do it with headphones in, but i just play rhythm and people like the solos.

  • either you kick ass or tht jackson has magic powers.....

  • @elmermoreglue666 It's a little of both lol, that guitar (Randy Rhoads RR1) is indeed one of the best I've ever played, has a great feel to it.

  • he shakes the head in the best part of solo 2:45

  • Dude! I love you! hahahahah exelent cover, marry me!

  • @joosee17 thanks very much, I'm flattered to say the least :)

  • Very good! Congratulations.

  • @seculo thanks a lot

  • hey randy rhoads thaught jesus how to play goodbye to romance lol

  • Excellent cover, brother \m/

  • @MetallicumRex thanks very much

  • That was incredible!

  • @Presto512 thanks again! (spotted your other comments too)

  • looks more to Zakk than Clifff

  • Fucking great, dude. I love seeing people pay tribute to legends like Ozzy and Randy Rhodes. I'm just starting out learning guitar and hope I can play as well as you eventually. Keep it up, man.

  • @pumarunner88 thanks a lot, and as long as you're dedicated and patient it will be all good, I truly believe if I can do it then anyone could if they invest the time and effort.

  • bro i am now your biggest fucking fan dude anyone that can play good bye like that other than the man randy himself has fucking talent and you my friend have talent.

  • faack this is a hard song to learn XD

  • nice solo! :-) care to check my recent solo cover out? ;)

    Thanks! Thumbs up!

  • great playing but i don't like the distortion..

  • absolutely brilliant playing my friend :)

  • @MattiGardners thanks very much

  • hey man, well done on all your covers, did you learn all the ozzy songs by ear or tab? if by tab could you please send me tabs? thanks

  • @19Rhoads82 thanks a lot, regarding how I learn, it's a mix of both, I look at tabs to get the basic layout and then go by ear to change anything I want, usually to either make it sound better to me and/or easier for me to play. The only Ozzy song I did fully by ear is 'Killer of Giants' and that's only because I couldn't find any decent tabs of it anywhere...

  • @ahenn84 ...as for the others, I got the basic layouts from the 'Blizzard of Ozz' and 'Diary of a Madman' tab books, although I'm sure those tabs can also be found online somewhere since people tend to post tabs straight from the books.

  • Is that a jackson rr or a jackson v?

  • @caprisun6 Jackson RR1

  • mas o menos no le sale como el mismo randy U.u

  • hell yea i think randy be proud of thet exellen cover of all the guitarrist like you esta salvaje la rola!!

  • Hello, I'm going through my second day of a tonsillectomy, horrible pain since I'm 18... just wanted to say hearing you play this, with just the guitar is really soothing. You're a great player. (:

  • @TravisScotttt thanks very much, glad this is of some help.

  • this truly brings tears to my eyes man you play awsome

  • i love this song its very empowering and one hell of a job playing it

  • @1964americangraffiti thanks a lot

  • VERY VERY GOOD SOLO!!!

  • can u plzzz send me tabs or give me link???

    its beautiful

  • gahh this guy amazes me everytime i hear him, randy would be proud brother!

  • great job! my favorite song ever

  • @pinkberryfleur thanks a lot

  • good, but i think that with a little of sentiment would be better :) 5/5

  • dud sorry to break it to you but there are a lot of guitarist that switch back and forth and i mean a lot but yeah your good.

  • @jnar111 Of course there are a lot that switch back and forth between pick and fingers, but considering 99% hold the pick in their mouth while using their fingers and need to switch back to their pick (or vice versa), it's not a very quick/seamless transition...that's the aspect I was emphasizing, not the concept of switching back and forth itself.

  • @jnar111 yeah i guess your right on that one i put it in my mouth, so i guess i dont have any room to say anything on that one but yeah good job and i guess just keep playing and try to get your own distincive sound

  • Dude you are practically flawless! Just a liiiiiiiiiittle(very small) amount of dynamics need to be added. BEAUTIFUL solo. Great switching between fingerstyle to chords, and quick with switching pickups. Overall: 6 out of 5 starrs...lol i know its not possible, but dnt judge me lol. Can i ask where you learned to play this?

  • @Videoguru184 thanks a lot, I learned from a mix of tabs and did a few things by ear too (such as the keyboard simulation at the end)

  • @ahenn84 well u have a great ear! I cant find tabs to get this accurate...i have a DVD showing u the solo, but the rest is all hard to find. Do you know Crazy Train?

  • hey dude been a couple years. i acutally have been playing a bit. Anything new and you still sound kick ass. In a bad yet?

also what kind of settings are you using on that line 6 love it

  • Man its so good that it makes me sleepy , great tune great performing nice tone man i wish i could play it as good as you thumbs up LLRR

  • That was an awesome cover, especially how you were without assist of backing track yet managed to keep all notes on time. Respect for this cover man, keep it up.

  • You're among the best of people who play covers. My only complaint is,why play note for note? I don't mean any disrespect, but ingenuity is good

  • @goodoldbill I wanted to stay close to the originals because I never saw the point in adding my own twists and embellishing something when in the end it still isn't my song/material anyway...I would much rather save my ingenuity for my own stuff.

  • @ahenn84 Good point. Hell,I never thought of that lol

  • @goodoldbill Actually, now that I think about it, I do utilize some of my ingenuity technique-wise...I have yet to see another guitarist that can seamlessly switch back and forth between playing with a pick and playing with their fingers as I do (0:44 and 0:57 in this video for example, but it's in almost all of my videos, "Killer of Giants" is one that stands out to me the most)

  • @ahenn84 Right on thats how I think about it.

  • no thank YOU that was beutiful

  • awesome you rock

  • @guitarman1091 thanks a lot

  • U freakin ROCK dude!!

I must say that u did a PERFECT job at this..

    keep up the good work

  • @babyboy3601978 thanks a lot, I will indeed try to keep it up.

  • sick guitar just got a pink one insane cover

  • This is amazing. Ozzy's best song and perfectly done.

  • @FieryKane thanks very much

  • king v right?

  • you did amazing man, thats the best i've ever heard but i do have a small thing that you might like to try, on the synthesiser solo at the end do it just like you were, but on the 3rd string in the 7th fret, its not quite as high and shrill, but you did really good man, im very impressed, keep the rhoads style alive man!

  • nicely done.

    Check out my try :)

  • Spot on bro! I enjoyed your own rendition of this classic track. Keep on posting man!!!

  • Marvelous! I was really moved.

  • thanks a lot, glad you enjoyed it!

  • perfecta man still that

  • very well done.

  • thanks very much

  • cliff burton lol

  • hehe yeah he kinda looks like Cliff xD

  • nice cover

  • this song is so great!

    your guitar have Floyd rose??

  • thanks a lot, and yes it does indeed have a Floyd Rose.

  • dude ur really good at this i love this song but i love ur cover of it it is better than the song itself:-D

  • amp line 6?

  • I love your tone on this. Is it mostly the guitar, or is your amp good at this kind of tone? Thanks for sharing.

  • It's a little of both actually, but leaning more toward the guitar and pickups, the Jackson RR1 has a neck-through-body construction so that improves the tone a bit (as opposed to a bolt-on neck), the EMG 60 pickup in the neck also helps it too.

  • man dude you play this rendition really clean, all of your covers are, you should play for a living

  • very good cover man

  • thanks a lot

  • is that the usa rr1?

  • @EspGuitars1337 yes it is indeed

  • I wish they had the RR1 in the finishes that they have in the RR5...Then it would be sick

  • This cover rocks! i love it its very melodic and the best cover of Randy Rhoads I have seen

  • love this song .Good Job !!!

  • thanks very much

  • Great sounding ,, good job!!

  • thanks a lot

  • thanks very much for the comments everyone, although in response to Nissebaill, to be fair you don't have to move around to put feeling into music...all you need is good fingers, and I don't think I could put more feeling and vibrato into some of the notes that I did (such as the 2nd solo starting at 3:33)...saying you have to move around to show feeling is like saying you have to chew with your mouth open to show you're eating: it isn't necessary.

  • your are fucking amazing great cover!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks a lot

  • Great cover.. = )

but, put feelings to it.. to the music.. :D

move around and feel the sound.. :P

  • this is not probably the best but THE BEST rendition of the song ever played on Youtube. Randy is very proud and you are freaking awesome.

  • beutiful

  • Hey Andrew this is Thais I loved this one you play so well!!!

you have got to be cliff´s lost brother or something

you remind me of him so much

    love you both!!!!!

  • if i closed my eyes i could,ve swore randy was playing that. DAMN that was awesome!

  • thanks very much

  • I'm pretty sure I commented on this.... But after numerous listens.... It still kicks ass !!!! so I'm lettin ya know again... great job....

  • thanks again

  • sounds very nice :) (Y)

  • man how did you learn this cause im having trouble with the chords!

  • It certainly wasn't easy, it took a lot of time/practice, the chords are indeed tough and involve some finger stretching in some areas, I basically just focused on one thing at a time.

  • this is my favorite ozzy song i am learning it this is a favorited video

  • epic

  • Great cover

  • favorited!! Nice man!!

  • thanks very much

  • Nice dude

    Sweet guitar!

  • your really good man i wish i could do that nice man

  • nice man i love the cover ur really good how long have u been playing?

  • hey thanks a lot, I started July of '03 so just under 6 years as of now (I should probably be a bit better than where I'm at but then again I don't invest much time per day to play, only about an hour so I can't really complain with my progress)

  • This was overall really good i liked it, a slight bit stop started but thats probably because you didnt have a backing track, otherwise Great !

  • That was awesome, and it was done very cleanly which was the impressive part.

  • wat amp is it? i think its a spider 3 but im not sure? if it is, which one is it? 15, 30, 75...?

  • yes it is a spider 3, it's the combo version, 150 watts (2 speakers, 75 watts per speaker)

  • sweet!

  • hey mate, really great cover the solo is dead on. One comment i have is that your vibrato seems a little intence for thihs maybe try slowing it down as it doesn't really go wiht the song at that speed.

  • really well done. any chance you could provide tab for your version?

  • thanks a lot, I can but it's not quite 'full', it's based off an earlier version/video I did before this one...it's about 80% the same as this though (doesn't have the solo, or the 'dee'-style ending) if you still want it just send me a message with your email address

  • wow great solo

  • you did a good job on this one. check out some of my vids. tell me what you think. (i did upload a few of me singing. I would really appreciate an honest answer)

  • when are u gonna play more songs man

    your really good

  • thanks, yeah I know I've been slacking a bit lately, I'm actually planning some more some time soon (don't have an exact time frame though)

  • what kind of amp do you use.

  • a line 6 spider 3

  • Pretty good, but you should've used a backing track, it soudns kinda empty

  • Great job!

Which Jackson guitar model is that? I currently have a les paul but really want to buy a jackson. Do you recomend that guitar?

  • thanks a lot, it's an RR1 Randy Rhoads, yes I would recommend it, it might take a week or so to get used to the body shape, but once you do it's an amazing guitar...however it's quite expensive at new/retail price, I was lucky to find mine used but in good shape on ebay for much less (although not cheap by any means)

  • genial me gusta esa rola de ozzy junto con randy roads es de mis favoritos guitarristas saludos!! conocedores de buen rock gracias por la subida soy de mexico yeah

  • very good man u did this really good

best cover ever of this song

  • i love this cover man your really good

  • thanks a lot

  • man that was awesome..

  • great cover man :)

  • well done! how did you learn it?

  • thanks, I basically just pieced it together from different tabs and did a few parts by ear as well...more or less it was a bit-by-bit process

  • you are amazing

  • great sound, dude

    ;)

  • you in a band yet man? I got back into playing i have been at it since may. Picked up a randall amp and a ltd m1 guitar ( like esp but this one was not hand made). As soon as i feel comfortable i might put up a few vids. Have you checked out any of the backing track sites some are pretty good you can jam with the music minus guitar

  • no I'm not in a band, I mostly do this just for fun at the moment, but I won't dismiss the possibility of being in one someday. I haven't checked out any sites for backing tracks, I don't want to go through anymore hassle than I have to lol.

  • i own jackson rr3 i was curios if that also is a rr3

  • no, it's an rr1 actually

  • i own a rr3 there awsome arnt they

  • yah they are really great guitars i was thinking about replacing the stock duncan pickups with a dimarzio x2n for the bridge and maybe a tone zone for the neck

  • goooood sound!! I love it

  • oh so he ended it with the dee ending>

  • you play real nice.. i'm using your vid as a guide lol i learning how to do it by ear.. the only challenging part is where he speeds up in the solo.. but props for the vid

  • awesome memorixing there...what kind of peddle is that?how much was it?

  • thanks, I use a Line 6 fbv shortboard, it's not really a separate effects pedal/switchboard by itself but merely an extension of the amp I use (a line 6 spider 3)

  • awesome cover man amazing :D

  • thanks a lot

  • This isn't a critism. But Randy used alot of volume swells in that tune. When you switch on the distortion is when he changed up on the volume from mp, to mf, to mp, to f back to mp. Nicely done though. The LIVE version is an awesome performance as well. But not hard at all.

  • thanks, yeah I kind of figured he did that, the clean parts in his live versions sound like it's a low-volume distortion...and I know what you mean regarding the live version vs. the studio one (I'm assuming you're referring to 'metalmuff1991's comment below), I don't get why he said the tribute version is 'a lot harder', ...I can't hear how so, but maybe that's just me.

  • nice going i like the live version though. i got the tribute book. its a lot harder.

  • sweeeeet guitar, awesome performance aswell

  • really awesome, you got skill

  • dude you are fucking amazing i love this song. anything by rhoads is amazing

  • thanks very much

  • for sure man. i was watching all you Metallica covers too. those were SICK! i love to play master of puppets. and a lot of others songs by them that you also play. which reminds me of going and seeing them live about 2 weeks ago on election day

  • hey man, ive commented this video before, but every time i hear it, it gets better. i know that it would take me probly months to learn that song. just looking at the tabs, there is soo much that goes into that 4 minutes. u deffinately pull it off and im inspird to learn it now

  • thanks again, yeah it's a bit confusing in some areas since there are multiple guitar parts/layers going on and it's tough to zero in on which parts you want to learn, and to figure out what sounds decent with only one guitar going on.

  • excellent, great sense of timing without a backing track!!!

  • OMG u are so good! Hey as a request, can u do a cover of Mama, I'm Coming Home? Are do u only do Randy Rhoads songs?

  • thanks, and 'mama I'm coming home' has crossed my mind a few times...and no, I don't just do Rhoads songs...I have a 'killer of giants' vid which is a Jake E Lee song

  • what chorus pedal are you using?

  • none actually, any effects I use are part of the amp itself (a line 6 spider 3)

  • great job..kudos to you..i am a songwriter and work for paramount and i have seen slackers come in the music industry that r a joke..my friend u r good..real good...

  • thanks very much, and I know what you mean, it doesn't take nearly as much talent to get into the music industry as it did in the past...all it takes these days is a bunch of money, 'pro tools', a lot of luck, (or if you have good looks just take the 'sex sells' approach and forget the music altogether) and suddenly they're somehow 'talented'...What blows my mind are that 'singers' can get caught lip-synching (ala Ashley Simpson) and yet still have their career.

  • that was an amazing cover, check out my tribute to Randy Rhoads.

  • thanks, and will do

  • Awesome, dude! What more can I say?

5 stars, man! I'd give you 10 stars if I could.

  • hey thanks a lot

  • Yeah dude. Fcuk Yeah dude!

  • nice job man, one of the best on youtube
