The documentary "Fear of God - The Making of The Exorcist" implied that she did, but Roger Ebert said she didn't. I guess only the people who were on the set, including Linda herself, know for sure.

The Exorcist is still the most disturbing film of it's genre even after so many years. I have the boxed 25 year anniversary edition and it does contain oout-takes,deleted scenes and interviews etc.Yes,there was talk that some people working on the film had died,I believe one on set,but mainly the deaths weren't suspicious.The prequel and sequels were piss-poor,but the original film was amazing!

of course hollywood loves to sensationalize things. The soldier just came back to prove a point that religion stands in the way of human understanding about the Creator and our place in the universe. Because the preacher was taught to be ignorant about the truth he chose to let his fellow soldier get raped, tortured, and get bamboo sticks shoved under his finger nails and they pee'ed on him since that was a popular demeaning thing that the koreans did to u.s soldiers once captured.

this film was based on a real incident that took place in St.Louis, MO. except it was a boy who was possessed not a girl... The possession was actually a slain soldier doing the korean war who had possessed the boy to get even with a preacher who was in world war 1 with him who didn't give him a mercy killing, because of his religious beliefs about killing, so what happened was the injured soldier was captured by the koreans and tortured and came back holding a grudge against the preacher
