  • too bad Godin guitars suck a fat one.

  • @TheLeftylegend14 build me a better one

  • I liked the video. it was very helpfull. thank you for posting.

  • 1:12 I thought smaller sound holes = more treble.... I think they got it backwards.

  • I hope that isn't just craft glue :S

  • 2:52 Mayonnaise 3:11 Ketchup 4:02 more Mayonnaise. lol

  • when did they replace the old narrator?

  • it is seagull, not godin

  • @skunkfunkish Seagull, Norman and Art and Lutherie are all Godin brands, made in the Godin factory.

  • I notice that Seagull guitar has little engraved seagulls on the pegs, my S6 doesn't have these :(

  • 1:52 <<<< the machina look like my grand mom ASS

  • hehe "The rod slips into a groove on the body" :P...beautiful guitar!

  • I have a Seagull Silverburst....maple and spruce....this sounds better than a J-45...i know...played them back to back....it was undeniable.

  • check out my homemade guitar!! flickr (dot) com/khomyakov

  • Guitars are absolutely beautiful, I have some yamaha classical guitar I got from a yardsale, and it's a lifechanging instrument to me. I take it everywhere I go

  • the wood will become what?

  • good to know, too bad godin guitars are shit!

  • @DYLDO667 I just bought a Godin progression electric guitar, It's amazing! a 700€ guitar that sounds like a 1300€ fender!

  • @yoyomatafaka thats great! but the many i have played sounded like garbage at first i thot it was my amp but the amp sounded fine with my main guitars

  • @DYLDO667 - You, sir, know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about guitars! First Act (China) guitars are shit - the acoustic guitars made by Godin (Seagull, Simon and Patrick, LaPatrie, Art & Lutherie, Norman, and the Godin 5th Avenue hollowbody archtop) are EXCELLENT guitars, made with care and the best materials, and they stand up quite favorably to Martins, Taylors, Breedloves, Guilds, Gibsons, etc. - but at a much more reasonable price point. Clear your own cranium of "shit" before you speak! Idiot!

  • @DYLDO667 Poor Idiot. Learn more about guitars, specially the Godin Guitars bullshit

  • @PAULINHO785 look retard i know more about guitars than you will ever know

  • i like the male narrator betterrrrr

  • O.o how would they make it without all this technology?

  • @erino486 I have a Guitar like that from thos times, no im kidding, but the probably just balverine guts. but anyways guitar like that on my channal! GODIN

  • @erino486

I was wondering that, too. Surely there must be artisans who make guitars by hand, somewhere?! I would love to know how they do it.

  • @mellowenglishgal My boyfriend makes hand built acoustics at the Lagan luthierie school in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Facebook Lagan Lutherie School you can see photos and details of how they make them.

  • Love watching how things are made. Their wages are uncool though. Im sure these guys are paid like 7~8 bux an hour. how can one run a family with that sort of money!

  • @nzbbs well, you don't know their personal stories... maybe one is trying to make some money cause he just moved to the states, and wants to go to school. or maybe someone wants to make a guitar company of his own, but thinks that he should see what it's like first. or maybe he is a drop out who couldn't get signed by any label so he stopped playing music, and had to resort to the only thing he could do. you never know.

  • @nzbbs these guy are paid almost 23 per hour lol 7~8 the minimum they can have is 10

  • i want the guys voice!!!!

  • @MetaLMieOw62 I think the sound quality is bad

  • Lot of work to make one.

  • Comment removed

  • I have a seagul and they are simply the best guitar for the money.

  • charlie had a chocolate factory, and I have this

  • I have an M6 acoustic and had it for about 7 months. the top cracked for no reason. The company said they did not cover finish cracks but to me it looks like it is in the wood.I don't think the shop even looked at it as it was covered in dust and sitting where I put it when it was brought in.

  • @crosscountry1x I have a Taylor now and whoever said these can stand up with a Taylor does not know what they are talking about.Go where they have both and play one and then the other you will see

  • Great film, really answers all the questions.

  • Does anyone know the narrator's name? I need it for a Works Cited page.

  • i prefer a real luthier... not a fucking machine!!!!

  • @FacebookChicano

    lolwut

  • I need new strings for my guitar, is there a certain type of strings i need to get?

  • @footballboy6 are you talking abour radius? if yes, you can put since 0.09 to 0.11 without having to make any adjustment to the neck..if your talking about material it influence only the sound...you have to try then all to choose what from..ones have more metalica sound..other more bass and smooth sounds..i prefer metalica sound...( bad english ftw)

  • i hate the womeans voice

  • @duncers79 lol your gay...

  • @0adireita wow ur mature

  • @duncers79 ahhhhh NO!

  • i love how its made, you really learn alot.

  • i wish i was left alone in a gutiar center for 10 minutes, 3 trash bags, a permission slip from my mom saying i cud steal stuff, a permission slip from owned saying i cud steal stuff, and a lollipop

  • @FacebookChicano im gonna regreat this but....whats the lollipop for?

  • @0adireita to eat what else would i use it for lol im not gay

  • @FacebookChicano why a lollipop?

  • @randomstuffstuidios my calling card (;

  • was watching this and forgot that they make art & luthrie guitars too and i was like, thats my guitar lol

  • glue? the one used for art projects?

  • Taylor guitars for life! I live near the factory in El Cajon, Ca. I drop in each year for the factory tours. And yes, I do own a Taylor guitar.

  • this video helped me build my homemade guitar made out of cardboard :3

    ... and it works

  • Kinda makes you appreciate guitars even more.

One thing though. It would kinda suck if they popped a string while installing it!!

  • im in the market for a new acoustic and wondering are godin acoustics any good?

  • @blacjack11 Seagull by Godin are pretty awesome if your on a budget.

  • @SubtleAcoustics so are art & luthrie

  • @blacjack11 And their making a seagull in the video lol. Didn't notice that.

  • hey guys i am working to get a free guitar kinda of like one of these, and you can too! just takes a little bit of time! if you would like to know how plz send me a message on here and i can help out!

  • Thats alot of glue...

  • AMAZING!

  • lol its kinda funny to see how much glue is used in making a guitar. just glue and wood is all.

  • thumbs up if 1:50 was the shortest minute of your life

  • @RR5GUITAR if only school was the same...

  • @RR5GUITAR i wish i could boil my wood. that shit flexed to the shape immediately

  • older guitars sound better?

  • try this at home

  • Machine heads? actually is called pegs if you know

  • @saitycsart its both lol

  • @ZombieFish17 LOLOL

  • I attended a workshop where we were given a Norman guitar and the owner signed the guitar. After playing a few different kinds, the tone quality on this guitar compared to others was actually quite nice. Considering Godin guitars received the award for the best maker of guitars recently, I consider myself quite lucky to have received one.

  • This lady is captain obvious

  • Ur fuckin gay bitch

  • @89306kris You're stupid.

  • This video should be called "How shitty guitars are made"

  • Super cool! I had no idea there was so much glue in my guitar! :)

  • Cool

  • I play guitar

  • isn't that segull guitars??

  • @GarettStilwellMusic Just what I tought

  • @GarettStilwellMusic It's actually an Art @ Lutherie guitar, another division of Godin Guitars, Seagull makes the more affordable models, the other divisions are La Patrie, Richmond, Simon @ Patrick, Norman, they are all made in Quebec except some Godin Multiacs assembled in the USA with parts made in Quebec.......long live tradition and stop sending jobs to China....buy North American

  • canadian guitars FTW!

  • Fantastic doc. Now I really want a Godin! I've been trying to find a similar doc on how they make the Japanese sanshin in English. But no luck. I'll probably end up making my own but like KOZbiPb says, Discovery RULES!

  • a wooooooooooood inlay hahahhahahahahahahaha

  • @TheForestKan What's wrong with wood inlays?

  • is godin considered a respectable guitar brand company such as taylor, yamaha, etc.?

  • @dnnscheers Godin would be above yamaha and equivalent to taylor, their guitars start at about $500 and can be $1000's

  • Or they could be made in new and innovative ways like the Matthews luthiers do. Everyone wants a guitar that gives more back than they put into it. But be sure, there are many ways and materials by which a great guitar is made. Taylor made a guitar from a shipping pallet that plays very well. Martin makes composite guitars that sound great. Keep innovating, keep bringing the price down so we can all have a great one.

  • Hey i'm 54 y/o and learning to play with a Fender Strat I practice every day and getting better ,i'ts never too late!

  • @lj200555 thumbed up dude. its never too late.

  • I have a seagull s6+spruce

    it is amazing

  • I wish i could get a guitar

  • You can always rent one...

  • great info!

  • That was very interesting. I'd play it. Haha

  • I like Smashing Guitars hahaha!!!!

  • i am building an acoustic in my wood construction class, i want to change things such as sound hole location, adding archtop bridges and fixing the uncomfortablity of the back by making it curved to fit with you, like in most ovation guitar back, except made of wood not plastic. i would like feed back on guitars you ppl have played like this, mainly sound hole location, i dislike the center hole on most cuz it gets in the way for me. thank u pls message me 4 what u have found 4 ur liking :)

  • @NICKMSAYSURATOOL Personally i prefer soundholes that are on the side, facing up at the player on the upper bout. I just think it's better for practicing because you (the player) gets more of the sound directed to you, rather than out away from you. That may be difficult for the kind of back you want to make, but i don't know. Good luck, happy building!

  • woah. usually its a mans voice

  • I'm getting the Seagull Coastline Cedar Gloss top.

  • yum.

  • that was... interesting..

  • I wish I knew how to play the acoustic guitar

  • if u have one ill teach you

  • Thanks

  • @jokerjoe1097 learn

  • So learn! I just bought one three months ago. It's a lot of practice, but I'm starting to get decent. (Btw I'm 25, and not yet too old to learn)

  • Discovery RULES!

  • I have a godin serie s6+spruce, and its wonderfull, an amazing guitar , really good sound ! godin rocks!

  • @Meten32

really cuz am goin to buy one for 49.99 so wat u think will it work or sound like chemicalized shit

  • Don't make general statements out of ignorance

  • I think it's pretty cool they are making these in Quebec. But they seem cheaply made. *shrug* Haven't been able to try a La Patrie or Godin yet. Some people give them rave reviews but others say it's garbage. Guess it depends on personal preference.

  • They are Very good guitars i have a la patrie and a simon and patrick and i love them

  • Seagulls are my favorite acoustics yet. I trust Godin with everything. i have a Godin Freeway Bass Leaftop and the tone im able to achieve (also with my fingers) with it is 2nd to none in my opinion. Great company!

  • I had an oak top Seagull with a bad frett that I missed detecting when I bought it brand new. Over all it was too mellow sounding imo. I wouldn't recommend a guitar with an oak top.

  • I DON'T BELIEVE IN PAYING OVER $2000 FOR A GUITAR . psycologically people think the guitar is better as the price $5000 or more.

  • I would like to respectfully disagree. Try playing a guitar with an adirondack spruce top with brazilian rosewood back and sides. They sound fantastic. It's kinda like the difference between a Yamaha piano and a Bossendorfer. But obviously the person playing the guitar is a factor too. LOL. I respect your opinion though. It's cool. It's all about the music.

  • You're absolutely right. Some of the best-sounding guitars I've ever had were cheap guitars.

  • was that last guitar an A and L?

  • at the end

    "the behter it will sound"

  • Impressive... To see how this Seagull guitar sounds, just check my videos out... It sounds great even through a cheap soundcard bundled mic!

  • It's not a Godin. It's a Seagull.

  • i wish that i could ever enter a factory and see how the guitar is made real infront of my eyes

  • @Hatim8812

Go to the Taylor Guitar factory @ El Cajon California. They do factory tours.

  • @FLIGHTCOMPANY Thanx i appreciate it

  • @Hatim8812 u got 3 weeks?

  • @TheDriftKing91 ddnt get u ?!

  • as it gets older, it will sound better. so thats why my new guitar doesnt sound as good as others. xD

  • I have a Norman from Godin and I love it

  • seagull guitars are a pinnacle of quality and playability i have one and it is awesome iv had it for 6 years and it still sounds the same and plays the same its also won of the best sounding guitars that iv'e played for the money.

  • my last name is godin gand my family is from quecbec

  • wats up godin

  • Every single guitar is a piece or work. They're artist. The best guitars in the world.

  • So basically nobody ever touches it. Well then. I'd rather spend the money on a Martin or a Gibson, atleast I'll know I'm getting a quality handmade instrument that wasn't made by robots.

  • Tell me about it. I would probably shed a tear watching a guitar being handmade. Its a beautiful process.

  • ooo that was pretty awesome! Thanks for posting this, man!

  • woah dude thats awsome, im gonna try not to break my guitar till im like 80 and sell it for tons of money =)

  • Thanks this helps(I'm in a bet) so i need info

  • all that work with advanced machines and still it takes 3 weeks, man i wonder what it was lije to make a guitar 100 years ago?

  • hah I was thinking the same thing

  • Same as someone building by hand today. Those guys put out maybe 10-12 guitars a year.

  • No way thats true. Fodera guitars are hand made and they are mass produced. Even gibson uses a hundred times more elbow grease for their instruments than workers in this video. 10-12 a year? Where did you hear that?

  • hes talking about a single Luthier, not a company

  • @pileofstuff yes,but what is more noticeable s that the workers are not highly trained .the machines made the production routine and predictible.

  • @pileofstuff Yup, but the guitars they put out... oh man. Makes the machine stamped trash sound like exactly what they are.... toys.

  • @pileofstuff i build by hand, im trying to craft a double neck... could you give me some hints? i got some mahogny for the neck and body, i thought of making it look like a SG or a V guitar.

i just bought a airbrush for the painting, hope some1 could help me here :)

i crafted 1 guitar before... it worked, but the design wasnt that good... (electric guitar made with Morgan pickups)

im also thinking about making my own pickups for this guitar...

and i need a name for it tough... :)

  • Also, on the video. How Its Made is definitely one of the more quality shows on Cable. No BS, just showin' us how its made, I don't need an annoying host to present each segment.

  • glue this glue that omg so much glue
