Reading about the culture and living with it are two different things. I take long walks in the mountains, watch the Japanese snow monkeys, and try to understand why I am here.

The reasons for the hatred between the Japanese and the Chinese stem not from cultural differences but rather from some events that happened in the past. However, in recent years, much of the animosity has died out, as the older generation that remembers gets older and the younger generation starts to take over. The events that caused the animosities have no direct bearing on the younger generations' lives so they are less likely to act on it or feel the same way as do the older generation.

What's with all the hatred between Chinese and Japanese people? They have so much in common the way I see it. I wish they would see it the way I do. They are both Asian countries with great civilization and culture. They share the same religion and musical instruments so why the against story? I just don't get it.

I have been to Japan three times now, and each time I have felt very sad when leaving, but home is where your heart is and at that time as now, I am not sure if I could learn enough Japanese to be able to live there for along time.
