18 seconds ago Mikhail Vasilievich Pletnev, founder of the Russian National Orchestra, was charged Tuesday with rape of young boys in Thailand....No smoke without fire....This is a dirty bastard pianist artist who prey on vulnerable young and poor boys in Asia. Hell to him and his performances! He deserves to rot in hell!
lol! I Don't know whether to be impressed or absolutely appauled at this outrageously original interpretation. There are parts where he is very lyrical and profound, but others he hits the piano too hard and plays insanely fast to the point where notes are blurred. All I say is, I wonder what Chopin would make of it?
Listen at 6:58, he adds lots of notes -- the melody is all in octaves, and I think he's embellished his left hand. I think it's about time people played this piece off the music -- sounds very much like Rubenstein. And then we have some real goodies around 7:20. At 7:40, I like how he punctuates very loudly. Wow.
Hmm, cute B section. Rolling the chords at the start is different. And then where there's the delicatissimo he plays around a lot.. and then there's the 4-part goodness. Well phrased and unique hooray!
If I could play this, I would make it my own as well. Bravo!

The melody is -supposed- to be in octaves, isn't it? That's what my sheets say.
