Phoenix, as a city, was not supposed to happen. The amount of resources pulled into that city to give it life is not worth it. Having an NHL team there is like building a city in Siberia and expecting a volleyball team to do well. Besides, the rest of us (most NHL fans) who don't live in the desert or California hate having to stay up until 1am to watch a playoff game when we work the next day. West coast NHL is like Japan and baseball, late to catch on. Make them play on our time.
I must admit I almost feel sorry for these idiots. They really have know idea what happens outside their little world. Winnipeg had 35000+ and they have at best 150. I really hope for there sake a jets fan posted this because if they where so proud of this rally that they had to post it, well that might be the saddest thing I've even seen.
That was such a poor crowd compared to Winnipeg's rally in 1995; 35,000++!! Sorry Arizona but your Coyote team was ours, we built this team from the ground up and now its gonna come back to where they came from! Glendale doesn't have enough residential fans to give a damn about this team, they don't even have the money to support this team and Hulsizer is not gonna pay more than $70,000! Canada is gonna get our hockey teams back which Bettman stripped away from us! What goes around COMES AROUND!

Glendale city council and the people of Glendale would have to be crazy to agree to the leasing deal that Hulsizer is going to bring. $25 million a year in subsidies and a relocation claws if he can't turn the team down. Don't look like idiots and just jump at the first offer you get. Or else one day we will say Phoenix.... Isn't that a land fill somewhere. it should also be noted that the jets rally and the yotes rally were two very different things
the jets rally was a big media organized and supported event
the yotes one was started just by a few fans who wanted to get our media to even take notice that the city they were supposed to be reporting on actually had a hockey team...and never really meant to have a huge turnout (they held it at a restaurant) but they wanted to at least get the media to report it
in 2005 the team was godawful, and had a dumpy stadium, and they averaged 15000 a game. in 2009 they go to the playoffs and nearly beat the red wings....yet then they average less than 10,000. They have lost an average of 40000000 dollars anually since 1996. the last resort for the team to survive is taxpayer money! and no phoenix citizen would wanna pay for a crappy team that they dont care about. plus if they cant get anyone to buy them by new years day theyre gonna move back to winnipeg.
@CF2VP Isn't that the truth! I've never seen such an arrogant you-know-what! He probably doesn't even know what city the team came from in the first place.
If that rear end is reading these posts right now, I will mention that if I ever get to Phoenix, I will not attend any Coyotes' home game because I don't want to help any sun belt team make any profit.
@FischerFan Coyotes must stay in Arizona. If not, the league would be sending a message like: "Do you love hockey? Sorry, you don't have the right to have a beloved team in your city because you live in the Sun Belt".
@Commish1219 At a cost to the NHL of $30 million a year?? I think not! The Dallas Stars play in the South; but they are supported. By comparison, the Coyotes are not. This is why the Coyotes and a few other teams in the South need to be moved.
Besides, you live in Mexico; so what do you care anyway? Enjoy your soccer teams.
You can't play ice hockey outdoors in the desert, and you can't grow citrus crops up in the Arctic. Truth hurts sometimes.
@Commish1219 yeah, i mean phoenix is the 7th largest city in the US...taking the team away from this part of the country would be taking it away from a huge population
the coyotes are also considered to be the team that represents not only arizona, but new mexico, and even western texas
i once spoke with a fan from el paso who said the coyotes were the closest NHL team to her...even closer than dallas
Lmao, some guy on here way before tried to say that fans didn't show up for this because they weren't allowed to rally in a big city centre. Pft, in Canada that wouldn't stop us, we regularly shut down cities for hockey games, we run rampant in the streets and there's not a damn thing anybody can do about it. Look at Montréal after a Habs game; they riot in the streets and so many people do it that instead of the cops telling citizens not to, they just try to contain everyone and limit damage.
It's almost the one year anniversary of this pathetic rally. Will there be another one? Will the drunk old fool in the Bryzgalov show up again?
To the drunk old fool: You are going home unhappy, you aren't keeping your damn Coyotes, that's right they're NOT staying there, and YES, they are taking your DAMN TEAM!
Hmm, it would be interesting if Phoenix and Winnipeg actually shared the team, where half the home games are played in phoenix, and half are played in winnipeg, and their new logo would be a combination of a coyote and a jet. But I doubt any sports teams actually have 2 host cities.
But for me, I'd rather like the team to either be in Winnipeg, or Phoenix, and no where else.
Yah but unlike teams like the leafs who just finish in the middle theyve been just loadin first round picks an by next yeer or 2 yeers there gonna be a elite team.
Also i live in Toronto and i dont know why the leafs dont do that. like last yeer they shoulda played Cujo all year we would have Stamkos or Hedman but no i knew we wernt going anywere anyways.
I've been living in Salt Lake City for a decade and the local minor league team gets little fan and media support here. This is a basketball and college football city. As a transplant from New York, I'd probably only go to games if the Rangers were in town.
And didn't the Whalers leave Hartford partially because they couldn't compete with New York or Boston markets?
@FBB87 thats how it is in phoenix...the local media is a joke
they will devote an entire sports segment to giving every score for basketball, baseball, football, college football, high school football, nascar, golf, tennis...then someplace in there will be a brief 15 second mention of the coyotes game...but none of the other scores from the NHL
its the medias misconception that there are no fans here...so hockey is more underground than mainstream...but there are still plenty of fans
so by that logic, canada should not have any basketball, baseball, or football teams right? since its nothing but ice and snow all there all year long right?
btw, northern arizona gets plenty of snow every year
@TheWhyBrothers did your local media ignore coverage of it? was it 115 degrees outside too? was it held in the middle of a workday so it would be hard for people to get off work? was it announced only a couple weeks before it happened?
@GarshardJeVard Lets see how long that lasts, even if Winnipeg doesn't get it, it will not stay in Phoenix, sorry. Just a little side note, October 30th in Phoenix, 8700 fans, November 19th for AHL in Winnipeg, 14,100 fans, it's sad really
@GarshardJeVard That isn't even a rebuttal to what he said, so... okay then...?
Not saying they'll necessarily go to Winnipeg, but the Coyotes don't have many years left in them so pretty soon you won't be able to even use the "hurr durr atleast phx has a team" defence ahahaha
@TheWhyBrothers And that was after they had their best season in existence and finally made the playoffs. X.x
I could understand Columbus or NYI having 10000 fans crowds at games after losing for a decade with no hope of improvements in short terms, but when a team still draws 10000 fans despite having gotten a great season the previous year like Phoenix or having been at least decent for years like Colorado, there's a problem.
all 60 fans who showed up to this should get a pat on the head cause ur all retards. fuck u gary buttman bring the jets back to winnipeg forget ur phoenix mistake u made u asshole biggot!
Last night the first game on the pathetic "we win you win" promotion by the coyotes drew 7968 fans, and they lost. BYE BYE COYOTES! You probably wont be in Hamilton but you wont be in Phoenix!
the coyotes should market to Hispanics, there are a lot in Phoenix, i think thats the problem. lol im hispanic, im the only one i know that likes hockey and i was surprised to hear a coyotes commercial on a spanish radio station...lol
the coyotes are staying once they start winning, people from Scottsdale are ganna come out to the games and sale out like in the 90s
@GarshardJeVard ya your right.. its not like they make most of the nhl's profit anyway.. and you know have to share it with the coyotes, blue jackest ...
@GarshardJeVard Screw Canadian teams? Butthurt much? Canadian teams make up 1/5 of the league yet generate 1/3 of the revenue. It's Canadian franchises that help keep jokes like the Phoenix Phailures afloat. Even that doesn't seem to be enough anymore though so that team will probably move the fuck out of Arizona in a few years anyway
NA NA NA NA, NA NA NA NA, HEY HEY HEY GOOOOODBYYYYYYEE! one way or another at the hads of jim or the nhl you guys will lose your team lol ice egdes bid is irrelivant sicne it rely's on fuckni concessions they still dont have a deal for LMAO its over phoenix thank god!
Im not a law expert at all but I think the judge at this high a level has the right to overule the NHL's bylaws fairly easily and the creditors would probably want the bid that gets their money right away. Regardless of what happens the coyotes will never survive in Phoenix long term.
I should clarify, when Balsillie does own the team, he does intend to move it to Hamilton, and he may be taken to court by the NHL, but we have to wait and see for that. In the meantime, Balsillie is in for bidding, and it is likely that he will own the team when the auction comes.
Since i Cant seem to write on your profile Fuck u U cock sucker Ur teams in the middle of the desert you dont deserve to exist just sit back and enjoy as your team gets wiped out you fuck face
Dont worry no matter what your team cant make money in the fucking desert so either way your gonna potentialy relocate your team or just simply shut the fuck down so im happy for you an those other 100 assholes.
Own me how did you own me just because you damn well know that hockey cant exist in the desert. You Nashville Atlanta Floirdia will all not exist in less then ten years no matter what gonna cry now little bitch.
Beets me what its like never happend to me but what did happen is the coyoteys drew less then 6000 fans at a game thats funni dont worry there leaving.

How come in the Save the Jets rally there were about 5000 people and there like 40 ppl in this video lol My toy lightsaber is worth more then ur whole franchise here so dont be going on about the lightsaber why not it was only 125 dollers your teams worth negative 10 million or more a year.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
haha must have took you all day to come up with that one. You know what makes me happy? All you faggot Jets fans can bitch all you want but Im happy because in the end where is the team? :) Fuck you and your bitch of a mother who brought you into this world! We have a team and you don't!!!! But Im glad you support a movie that is AMERICAN made! What a douchbag! FUCK CANADA!
First off im not a jets fan i live in Toronto you moron and you wont have a team in 5 years mark my word the fanchise looses to much money. Face it Hockey doesint belong in the desert your boy freind fuck buddy Bettman is a fool for thinking other whys an i do have a team u fucking moron
@DarthVader28 the franchise lost money because of a piss poor management
ive been to plenty of yotes games since theyve been here, and there were plenty of sell outs or near sell outs
last year doesnt count because all the talk in the media (ironically, the one time our media does mention the coyotes) was about how they will move...so no one bought tix to a team they thought would be gone before the end of the year
Balsillie IS in. The bankrupcy judge allows him to, se he can make his bid. And remember, this auction is about satisfying the creditors, and beacuse Balsillie has the highest bid ($212 million), it is very likely the team will go to Balsillie regarless of the NHL's stance.
Woah! been a long time since I last visited this page and its still full of attention! I have to say Coyotes will be gone and put under ownership of RIM once the upcoming auction in August 20 takes place. Prepare Phoenix, your team's ownership is coming to an end.
I was in those shoes four years ago when Ottawa's AAA baseball team moved to Lehigh Valley after years of speculation. I was upset, but I accepted it, Lehigh could support AAA baseball better than Ottawa could. In the same way, as far as fanbases are concerned, Hamilton could better Phoenix. You do not deserve a team. You will keep it because financially, it helps the NHL.
How is Jerry Moyes a moron? He was unknowingly thrust into power of the Coyotes. Makes me think that YOU're the moron
Pensteel71 I think you just made the best argument why Pheonix shouldn't have a team, They do not get any news coverage and no fan support. Even if buddy who owns the Chicago teams does buy the Yotes..it will be for 2 yrs then they will be moved regardless..but I apploud your passion but understand when they moved from Winnipeg they had 35,000 at a rally not a few hundred.
Don't get me wrong, the Save the Coyotes "campaign" is a joke, put together by complete morons. But this is not a discussion of who has the more loyal fanbase, because we've established that Kitchener/Winnipeg/Hamilton would sustain a team much easier than Phoenix.
But it's economics. Why the hell would Bettman move the team to Hamilton when the NHL is getting revenue straight from american TV deals, which you won't get in Canada? Ticket sales bring in such minimal revenue for the NHL.
The phoenix coyotes are without any doubt the most pathetic orginization to ever claim to be a professional sports team. On the ice they are the laughing stock of the league, they were supposed to be competetive this season and maybe make the playoffs, howd they do again? Off the ice they drain the leagues revenue sharing system dry, hard working teams lose money because the coyotes suck. Because there broke they actually tried to sue over the term whiteout which they claim to have invented.
No they don't. The Coyotes brought in approximately $75 million in revenue for the NHL last year, whereas a team in Hamilton would likely only bring in a projected $25 million per year. Sorry to rain on your parade, but it's economics. American Television Deals are the only reason Phoenix still has a team, sad but true.
The team itself would make more money in Winnipeg, but a team in Winniped would bring in nowhere near as much revenue for the NHL than a team in the United States, unfortunately.
Because the Coyotes have a TV deal that generates revenue for the NHL! Hamilton would never have this, because all of the Canadian teams have their games shown via CBC, TSN, Sportsnet etc, rather than individual networks.
He shouldnt have done the whole expansion in the first place all Arizona teams have NO FANS cept for the Cardnials and once they lose again there will be no fans.
HAHA Not yetm, do you realize that the coyotes are pathetic? There a drain on the league, the man who wants them to stay there Garry Bettman, is the same man who drove the NHL to becoming one of the worst professional sports orginizations ever. Dont worry the coyotes are bankrupt and will be until they move. ENjoy them while you can :P
Yes, there probably will still be a rally in Hamilton..
The Coyotes will still lose money the 2009/10 season. We will be back to the same argument in 1-3 years when millions more are lost.
At the end of the day, Bettman, The NHL and the Coyotes have been exposed. Another NHL team in southern Ontario, or Winnipeg is innevitable and will happen within the next few years.
in canada it would be way bigger all canadian teams are posting like constant sell outs and if u keep them in the states move them to hartford or a northern city
And im not just a fan of hockey, i also play it (Travel hockey AAA). I've been up north several times for tournaments and I do understand the love and passion for the game.
What a joke, go back to your golf game you coffin doggers. You won't have a 'damn team' for long. If it wasn't for the retired Canadian's in Arizona you would be lucky if 5000 people were at the games down there!!
Give it up, they arent going to Hamilton. Atleast not for a few years. Four new buyers offered to keep the coyotes in phoenix recently. That blackberry guy has some competition. Oh NNOOOOOO boo hooo. sorry canadians, no team for you.
The fact is, it is inevitable that there will be another team in Southern Ontario, and very likely Winnipeg in a few years.
Unless you have visited Canada, more particularly Toronto, you can't even begin to understand how hockey is built into the Canadian culture.
I would suspect, the casual fan in Phoenix has no clue about how popular hockey is in Canada. That being said, yes, there IS A TEAM for us, and they are called the COYOTES. The Hamilton Coyotes.
I know how popular hockey is in Canada. It is the law to play hockey up there. But dont get me wrong i really respect Canadian people and I think it's great how they love the game, I wish people were like that in Arizona. I'm just saying, the Coyotes arent gonna be moving this season. (im predicting) they stay for one more season at least... MGman800 what are you talking about????
where are your buyers now? lol oh thats right they dont exist. now your only hope to keep a team lies with the nhl bid and even they want to get the fuck outta phoenix after 1 year LMAO either way you guys lose your team so im happy.
Yep.. especially the drunks like the howlin idiot in the Bryzgalov jersey.
- We are not goin home unhappy
- You are not keepin your damn Coyotes
- They aren't stayin there
- Yes, we are takin your damn team
This is the Winnipeg Jets, and the Jets and their rich history must go back to where they came from. I wouldn't be as blunt if this were an expansion team, but since no one gave a shit about the 40 grand that came to the Jets rally, us Jets fans must get this point across.
Indeed a disgrace! Where are the large number of Mexican/Hispanic's that live in Phoenix? Why did the Coyotes not try to market to this demographic. Some MLB and NBA teams have Hispanic days where they wear uniforms in Spanish (eg: Milwaukee Cerveceros, San Antonio Los Spurs),etc..
lol i applaud their effort but yes eventually the NHL will have no choice be it to hamilton or wherever, im not critisizing you as fans, but there is simply not enough of you. There were 30 000+ at the save the Winnipeg Jets rally compared to your 100 or so people there.
I somewhat expected more fans attempting to hold off the team leaving, but it kinda sums up the fanbase there. Now the Phoenix fans are experiencing what the Jets fans went through back in 1995...
I love that the guy's comments only further show why the team should be taken out of Phoenix. You can hardly get your own tv stations there to put the rally on the news (when Canada is so interested we sent our own tv cameras down there) and they couldn't even get it into the newspaper. You can't find a newspaper in the Hamilton area that doesn't have at least one article a day about Balsillie and the Coyotes.
Hamilton is hockey mad and would have no problem selling out a majority of the games. Toronto's done so for the past decade, they've consistently been one of the worst teams and still sell out every game.
Phoenix, sadly just don't have the numbers. The majority of Arizonans don't care about hockey unless the Coyotes win a cup. They care about football, baseball and basketball. The only argument to be had for the team staying is larger corporate sponsorships, for their strength is not in numbers
actually arizonans dont give a shit about ANY team unless they win the championship...the cardinals are perfect example...no one cared about them till suddenly last season when they made it to the superbowl...then after they lost, you hardly saw anyone wearing cardinals gear anymore...arizona is pretty much a bandwagon town when it comes to teams, but all 4 sports are still popular here
i dont think that would be an issue...i mean if they did have such a huge fan base in winnipeg, then why did they move? if it was financial reasons...then how is it such a huge fan base wasnt going to games or spending money on merch or whatever? the only reason why the coyotes are struggling financially is cause of the piss poor economy we are in...cause the yotes arent the only sports team in a financial crisis...arizona just happens to be one of the hard hit states in the bad economy
To Correct you the coyotes are not struggling they are at rock bottom. they are there because overall they are easily the most pathetic unskilled team to ever play professional hockey, there fanbase is just as pathetic as their team, Winnipeg's rally drew over 40, 000 people, Phoenix's 200. Considering the better economic stability and presence of REAL hockey fans in Winnipeg and Hamilton the Coyotes would be better off moving to either one.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
there are plenty of "real" hockey fans in arizona...we get plenty of snow birds from up north that travel down here where its warmer during the winter and love watching hockey games
Do you actually think that those type a fans can sustain a franchise? No they cant maybe thats why the coyotes are bankrupt. The coyotes are on and off the ice a disgrace to hockey
they moved because they werent getting a new arena. They're stuggling NOW because of the Economy, but how about every year past year 1 once the novelty wore off? They may not be the only, but I'd put money on them being the Worst off. Now, don't get me wrong, I love my Coyotes, big fan since the Winnipeg days, but it's time to put them to sleep. Even the NHLPA says it should be over. The only reason Bettman is SO against it --he looks like a failure if he loses Phoenix, and he won't have it
i read that while they may have been one of the top markets in the WHA, they were one of the smallest markets in the NHL, which added to them moving...
i would agree that they might be the worst off (clearly cause theyre the only sports team i know of that filed for bankruptcy), but i wouldnt say that the novelty has worn off...if it seems like people arent going to games as much or what not, i really think its just the bad economy...i mean i would have gone to more games if i could afford it
if you could afford it? you have the cheapest tickets in the fucking league! and the team was losing money way b4 this bad economy bullshit started. stop making excusses if people liekd the game they wouldnt have the lowest attendence in the league for the past few seasons

To the drunk old fool: You are going home unhappy, you aren't keeping your damn Coyotes, that's right they're NOT staying there, and YES, they are taking your DAMN TEAM!
Robis2349 1 year ago 5
Hmm, it would be interesting if Phoenix and Winnipeg actually shared the team, where half the home games are played in phoenix, and half are played in winnipeg, and their new logo would be a combination of a coyote and a jet. But I doubt any sports teams actually have 2 host cities.
But for me, I'd rather like the team to either be in Winnipeg, or Phoenix, and no where else.

This is what Commissioner Gary Bettman should do:
Relocate: Tampa Bay, Florida (Miami), Atlanta, Dallas, Charlotte, Phoenix, Nashville, Anaheim, Los Angeles (9 teams)
To: Winnipeg, Quebec City, Hamilton, Seattle, Portland, Salt Lake City, Hartford, North Dakota and Saskatchewan
FAITHandLOGIC 2 years ago
Leave Tampa Bay alone most ppl dont know but they actully have a fan base get rid of the rest of em i agree with you.
DarthVader28 2 years ago
@DarthVader28
Tampa only has a fan base because the team won a Cup several years back. They haven't done anything since.
FAITHandLOGIC 2 years ago 4
Yah but unlike teams like the leafs who just finish in the middle theyve been just loadin first round picks an by next yeer or 2 yeers there gonna be a elite team.
DarthVader28 2 years ago
Also i live in Toronto and i dont know why the leafs dont do that. like last yeer they shoulda played Cujo all year we would have Stamkos or Hedman but no i knew we wernt going anywere anyways.
DarthVader28 2 years ago
I've been living in Salt Lake City for a decade and the local minor league team gets little fan and media support here. This is a basketball and college football city. As a transplant from New York, I'd probably only go to games if the Rangers were in town.
And didn't the Whalers leave Hartford partially because they couldn't compete with New York or Boston markets?
FBB87 2 years ago
@FBB87 thats how it is in phoenix...the local media is a joke
they will devote an entire sports segment to giving every score for basketball, baseball, football, college football, high school football, nascar, golf, tennis...then someplace in there will be a brief 15 second mention of the coyotes game...but none of the other scores from the NHL
its the medias misconception that there are no fans here...so hockey is more underground than mainstream...but there are still plenty of fans

at the save the jets rally there was over 35 000

FAITHandLOGIC 2 years ago 9
so by that logic, canada should not have any basketball, baseball, or football teams right? since its nothing but ice and snow all there all year long right?
btw, northern arizona gets plenty of snow every year
rockerseven 1 year ago
@TheWhyBrothers did your local media ignore coverage of it? was it 115 degrees outside too? was it held in the middle of a workday so it would be hard for people to get off work? was it announced only a couple weeks before it happened?

@TheWhyBrothers and yet Phoenix has a team.

I could understand Columbus or NYI having 10000 fans crowds at games after losing for a decade with no hope of improvements in short terms, but when a team still draws 10000 fans despite having gotten a great season the previous year like Phoenix or having been at least decent for years like Colorado, there's a problem.

I should clarify, when Balsillie does own the team, he does intend to move it to Hamilton, and he may be taken to court by the NHL, but we have to wait and see for that. In the meantime, Balsillie is in for bidding, and it is likely that he will own the team when the auction comes.

@DarthVader28 the franchise lost money because of a piss poor management
ive been to plenty of yotes games since theyve been here, and there were plenty of sell outs or near sell outs

Balsillie IS in. The bankrupcy judge allows him to, se he can make his bid. And remember, this auction is about satisfying the creditors, and beacuse Balsillie has the highest bid ($212 million), it is very likely the team will go to Balsillie regarless of the NHL's stance.
MGman800 2 years ago
Woah! been a long time since I last visited this page and its still full of attention!

LeafsFanInOttawa 2 years ago

The phoenix coyotes are without any doubt the most pathetic orginization to ever claim to be a professional sports team. On the ice they are the laughing stock of the league, they were supposed to be competetive this season and maybe make the playoffs, howd they do again? Off the ice they drain the leagues revenue sharing system dry, hard working teams lose money because the coyotes suck. Because there broke they actually tried to sue over the term whiteout which they claim to have invented.
jagged22 2 years ago 2
No they don't. The Coyotes brought in approximately $75 million in revenue for the NHL last year, whereas a team in Hamilton would likely only bring in a projected $25 million per year. Sorry to rain on your parade, but it's economics. American Television Deals are the only reason Phoenix still has a team, sad but true.
LeafsFanInOttawa 2 years ago
But it would bring in alot more in Winnipeg. and GO HABS
josephkennith 2 years ago
The team itself would make more money in Winnipeg, but a team in Winniped would bring in nowhere near as much revenue for the NHL than a team in the United States, unfortunately.
LeafsFanInOttawa 2 years ago
WHY
josephkennith 2 years ago
Because the Coyotes have a TV deal that generates revenue for the NHL! Hamilton would never have this, because all of the Canadian teams have their games shown via CBC, TSN, Sportsnet etc, rather than individual networks.
LeafsFanInOttawa 2 years ago
o well then beemens a fuckin prick.
josephkennith 2 years ago
Did you take the time to actually read ANYTHING that I wrote?
It's not Bettman's fault, it's a matter of money.
Canadian teams don't have individual networks..how is this Bettman's fault?
LeafsFanInOttawa 2 years ago
He shouldnt have done the whole expansion in the first place all Arizona teams have NO FANS cept for the Cardnials and once they lose again there will be no fans.
josephkennith 2 years ago
Haha, declared today that the COYOTES ARE NOT MOVING :)
pajaarvi 2 years ago
HAHA Not yetm, do you realize that the coyotes are pathetic? There a drain on the league, the man who wants them to stay there Garry Bettman, is the same man who drove the NHL to becoming one of the worst professional sports orginizations ever. Dont worry the coyotes are bankrupt and will be until they move. ENjoy them while you can :P
jagged22 2 years ago
Yes, there probably will still be a rally in Hamilton..
The Coyotes will still lose money the 2009/10 season. We will be back to the same argument in 1-3 years when millions more are lost.
At the end of the day, Bettman, The NHL and the Coyotes have been exposed. Another NHL team in southern Ontario, or Winnipeg is innevitable and will happen within the next few years.

Give it up, they arent going to Hamilton. Atleast not for a few years. Four new buyers offered to keep the coyotes in phoenix recently. That blackberry guy has some competition. Oh NNOOOOOO boo hooo. sorry canadians, no team for you.
pajaarvi 2 years ago
The fact is, it is inevitable that there will be another team in Southern Ontario, and very likely Winnipeg in a few years.
Unless you have visited Canada, more particularly Toronto, you can't even begin to understand how hockey is built into the Canadian culture.
I would suspect, the casual fan in Phoenix has no clue about how popular hockey is in Canada. That being said, yes, there IS A TEAM for us, and they are called the COYOTES. The Hamilton Coyotes.
Robis2349 2 years ago 4
I know how popular hockey is in Canada. It is the law to play hockey up there.
JennDisher 2 years ago 6
Hamilton is hockey mad and would have no problem selling out a majority of the games. Toronto's done so for the past decade, they've consistently been one of the worst teams and still sell out every game.
Phoenix, sadly just don't have the numbers. The majority of Arizonans don't care about hockey unless the Coyotes win a cup. They care about football, baseball and basketball. The only argument to be had for the team staying is larger corporate sponsorships, for their strength is not in numbers
poundingmetal74 2 years ago 6
actually arizonans dont give a shit about ANY team unless they win the championship...the cardinals are perfect example...no one cared about them till suddenly last season when they made it to the superbowl...then after they lost, you hardly saw anyone wearing cardinals gear anymore...arizona is pretty much a bandwagon town when it comes to teams, but all 4 sports are still popular here
rockerseven 2 years ago 3

i dont think that would be an issue...i mean if they did have such a huge fan base in winnipeg, then why did they move? if it was financial reasons...then how is it such a huge fan base wasnt going to games or spending money on merch or whatever? the only reason why the coyotes are struggling financially is cause of the piss poor economy we are in...cause the yotes arent the only sports team in a financial crisis...arizona just happens to be one of the hard hit states in the bad economy

Considering the better economic stability and presence of REAL hockey fans in Winnipeg and Hamilton the Coyotes would be better off moving to either one.

jagged22 2 years ago 3
they moved because they werent getting a new arena. The only reason Bettman is SO against it --he looks like a failure if he loses Phoenix, and he won't have it
deadbabyfootball 2 years ago
i read that while they may have been one of the top markets in the WHA, they were one of the smallest markets in the NHL, which added to them moving...
i would agree that they might be the worst off (clearly cause theyre the only sports team i know of that filed for bankruptcy), but i wouldnt say that the novelty has worn off...if it seems like people arent going to games as much or what not, i really think its just the bad economy...i mean i would have gone to more games if i could afford it
