@LordKaisen First off McCarthy was a Senator. Which is a lot different than a sitting President doing the same thing. And did McCarthy ask people to inform on their neighbors? Or did he already have reports? As near as I can find, he was investigating reports he already had. Communism was a huge threat back then. And in many cases information was volunteered.

@LordKaisen Well given the fact he lost nearly ALL the support form independents he used to have, the fact that some Democrats believe the only way to keep the white house is for somebody else to run instead. And given that 10 million Republicans chose not to vote because McCain wasn't "Their" guy. Given how things have gone for 3 1/2yrs THAT won't happen again. Plus this whole Solyndra scandal is tied around his ankles like a lead weight. I'd say a U-haul is gonna be @ White House 1/20/13.
