Have you tried Turtle Beach X11? This seems like a good headset but I think the Turtle Beach is similar , did not try them but I will give them a go.

How are is the 3D positioning and sound compared to the Tritton AX720's? I own a pair of both...I use the Tritton's on my Xbox right now and HPA2's on my PC. But I'm reluctant to buy the Mixamp for my Xbox to use the HPA2's if I'm not really getting that much more from it, although from watching your SnD videos it sounds like you can hear things almost across the map.

have you tried the trittons ax 720 there amazing, you can take the mic of, the superlight, ear cups fit amazing, and they also have the 5.1 digital surround sound with 4 speakers in each ear, and there also less money then the HPA2 Headset

that is not the ax720. the ax 720 have one 40mm speaker in each earcup and it simulates surround so not real 5.1.

the Tritton ax pro are the ones with h speakers in each ear cup and they cost more.

i have the ax720 myself.

Hey Doc, my hpa2's should be in the mail in about a week and i know you might say it's all personal preference but what settings do you have the amplifier stuff on.(surround, center, front, and subwoofer). Because you already tested them with 3D positioning so you probably messed around with the settings and it would save me a whole lot of time to figure a pretty decent setting, so please if your able to reply back your settings or make a video on your settings or something.

@MLGNasiR A40s won't stand up to the HPA2s in 3d positioning. They have good quality sound but not nearly as visual. The HPX is the HPA2s just you have to use the Astro Mixamp with them. It also turns it into a stereo headset.

@loste585 I just bought AX Pro's on Friday night and they went back Saturday morning.They sound like you are in a metal trashcan when you play. Not to mention you have to yell at the mic to make it pick up your voice. I play with Turtle Beach X4's for now , but have HPA2's in the mail coming to me. Definately do not get the Tritton's. Return the 720's and get Turtle Beach X41's or HPA2. Good luck.

@loste585 Best way to find good price for them is to google what headset you want and hit the Shopping link at top left after the search is over and it will bring up a big list of websites that have them. It will break down price, shipping,etc. I would be willing to bet if you buy American and pay shipping it will still be cheaper. Astro A40's work for both consoles plus everything else you can imagine. I didn't buy those just because I really didnt want to drop 250.

These headsets confuse the hell out of me. I have been using the X31's for the last year or so, and have really enjoyed them. Now I want to upgrade to something with more directional sound quality.

Sooo many choices/brands/models! Turtle Beach has the HPA2's listed as PC compatible???? Not XBox??

I am a pub guy who wants a clear advantage in the sound whoring arena. $200, with the mix amp is the absolute most my wife would even hear off.

I honestly see the Astros as MY personal favorite. They may NOT be the, let's say, best as for 3D sound for CoD, but I think Astros work better than the TB. That's just my opinion, I also feel that the Astros, like you said, are more of a tournament headset and I think they are more geared for something like Halo; in which you don't really sound whore, but for me they get the job done really well on CoD. Again, ALL MY OPINION.

@WARSinRIOTS Got the A40s and the HPA2s, 2days with the a40s and a 4foot drop had broken apart a piece of plastic connecting to the headband to the speaker(made my hard earned money feel like shit due to the cheap plastic). Playing a TDM match and I look behind me because of the suckish 3D positioning when the enemy is 9'Oclock of me. Too much money for less benefits! HPA2s FTW they blow your fucking mind. Love them, awesome price, worthy of your money.
