u know how they did not tell how long the battery can last, and just to tell u all a mac can run about 10 hours and thats not changing anything in it, but a pc can maybe have a 5 to 6 hour battery without changing anything, but if u want a bigger battery u have to buy it separate
Laptops are PCs. Windows Laptops, and Mac Laptops are both PCs. Call it what you will, I just don't see a huge difference aside from computing needs, and the way it looks.

Apple's probably the main reason for most of the stupid Mac Vs Windows arguments. Honestly, I love my PC, it does gaming, and everything else I could possibly ever need a computer for. And I love building them. Simple as that.
Gaming isn't my -Main- point, it's just out there. A fact that some Mac users don't understand. A PC can, and will do anything a Mac can, and more, spite some interface differences. Mac is stable, and safe for the average user, and comes built with some good software for video, and sound editing. Which is why the Mac is so expensive, but the PC most definitely has programs for it that can match up to those. Probably not freeware, but for the right price you could save money.

Glad to hear you're not fanboy. But as far as editing goes, both iMovie and Movie Maker can eat it (to be polite). I work with Adobe for all my sound and "movie" needs, and Sony Acid for my music needs. All upper level programs that neither Mac nor PC comes pre-installed with, but both can run. Speaking of pre-installed, that just shows that Apple is forcing you to pay for an added program you may or may not want. MS doesn't do that, and I am happier for it.
But yes, I agree, it's all in whether you like cake (Macs) or good ole fashioned, great tasting, never goes out of date, pie. Me? I like the whole pie with a slice of Cake and some french fries (a $2000 Canon 7D)

I loved my macbook, especially trackpad is awesome(also Aluminum Uni-body and interface). however I can get much more power from PC for less price. Also I can hook up my PC to my HDTV via HDMI.
Nice laptop my uncle got a XPS 15 and dude its a skiny little thing with the new intel core 2 and 2.2 GHZ the thing is only about 2-3 pounds and very powerfull i dont know but the graphics card is amazing think its the New Nvidia GT.
here is my story, I bought imac last year to try apple computers and I regret it. I'm not saying a bad performance but look, my all in one printer is not fully supported wirelessly by the imac, I had trouble finding the softwares I that need. iwork sucks and no db software. for me the imac was only web browsing machine for over 2300$ AUD. Yesterday I bought acer lapto for less than 700AUD> 4GB 500G ATI 4200 2.0GHz windows 7 64 OS and I have all the software I need to use
I switched from a MacBook to an Asus K50 with Windows 7 on it today. The MacBook would've cost me up to 1000 dollars. The Asus cost me only 480 something dollars. NOT EVEN 500 dollars, man!

@Saturn357 The K50 is a mediocre machine with an inferior display to the mac, DDR2 memory vs. the DDR3 Memory of the mac and a slower CPU. That's not to mention the tiny trackpad vs. the much larger multitouch trackpad of the mac. You basically got what you paid for.
@AKOverlord Asus is the MOST reliable laptop brand followed by Toshiba, Sony, Apple, Dell, HP, Gateway, and then Acer. He's not going to have to replace it in little over a year due to it breaking. The only reason he would replace it is to improve performance and by that time, the Macs would still have the same hardware whereas Asus or any other PC would be with modern hardware. I mean....Mac book Pro 13's "Years ahead of its time"...yeah right Core 2 Duo is 4 years old.

I don't quite see why you would buy The XPS 13 instead of a MacBook.
At 999USD both have virtually the same specs but the macbook is thinner, lighter, has more battery life and comes with one of the best touchpads on the market.
Also Dell isn't exactly known for build quality.
After just a year of use my old 1700USD+ Dell had a worn out keyboard , worn of paint in many spots and a creaking case. And in the end the graphics card fried (was a common problem with that model)

I love windows, I bought a mac about 3 months ago for college but just was not satisfied and I still cant justify the extra £500 difference between the macbook pro of mine and my Dell inspiron 15. I have switched back and satying that way.

Depends on the laptop, I'd be happy to pay $1700 for a good workstation laptop, with an i7 CPU or 3GHz+ core 2 extreme about 8GB RAM and a Quadro FX or ATI Firepro. Anything less than that is a scam.

People are fooled into thinking OSX is very stable but it's only because there are few hardware configurations for it. Try running a Hackintosh using the unmodified OSX kernel and you'll see that it chokes on many PC configurations.
Not to mention, that MacBook Pro shown at 0:21-0.22 would be pretty fine for what she wants to do. I'm yet to fully try Windows 7, but really want to try it :P

I get 9 hours on my Toshiba, There's a Lenovo laptop that gets 11 hours, and the new HP Envy is said to get up to 18 hours. Not to mention all those laptops allow you to swap the battery out for a spare and get twice as long. Longest battery ever? why don't you check your facts.
I am writing extended essay on I'm a PC and Get a Mac campaigns. With a little bit of research I found out that the Dell she bought is 4.85pounds (MB 4.7pounds), has battery life of 3 hours with WiFI off and lowest brighteness of the screen (7hours on MB) and has slower precessor (2.13 comparing to 2.26 on MB) and the only thing better about it is the 1GB more RAM. But really, this is dumb, MB is way better for her for the same price, haha... :D
The capacity of the batteries are about the same in watt/hours, but the MB uses a superior Li-polymer type. And actually, the Dell also has a faster hard drive (7200 vs 5400 rmp). Two ounces lighter is not a benefit. All in all, the baseline MB can beat the baseline XPS by a small margin and certain standards.
However, when the XPS13 is spec'd up to equal the MBP13 2.53GHz model, the XPS is $400 cheaper ($1100 vs $1500).
You're right the battery life on these XPS 13's was poor, probably not the best choice for what she wanted, a dell studio 14 would have been better with it's 6 hour battery, and cost less. But you are comparing a $980 laptop to what was at the time a $1200 Macbook, also at the time of this ad I think the Macbook was only 2.1Ghz (the ads started in March)
yea the 16 lasts like 2 30 hours which is poor but fine for me since i dont spend much time away from the charger. just for 2 hours for a trip to the library to work on projects, but for her, a case can go on for 4-5 hours so not that great. If anything she should get a 9 cell attachment. for it. I should do that too.

Glad to hear you're not fanboy. But as far as editing goes, both iMovie and Movie Maker can eat it (to be polite). I work with Adobe for all my sound and "movie" needs, and Sony Acid for my music needs. All upper level programs that neither Mac nor PC comes pre-installed with, but both can run. Speaking of pre-installed, that just shows that Apple is forcing you to pay for an added program you may or may not want. MS doesn't do that, and I am happier for it.

I recently sold my macbook (2.4ghz, DDR3 2gb, 250gb HDD) for $850, and got New VAIO F (i7 1.6ghz, DDR3 4GB, 1080p screen, Geforce 330M, HDMI port) for $1190 from online.
I loved my macbook, especially trackpad is awesome(also Aluminum Uni-body and interface). however I can get much more power from PC for less price. Also I can hook up my PC to my HDTV via HDMI.

Nice laptop my uncle got a XPS 15 and dude its a skiny little thing with the new intel core 2 and 2.2 GHZ the thing is only about 2-3 pounds and very powerfull i dont know but the graphics card is amazing think its the New Nvidia GT.

here is my story, I bought imac last year to try apple computers and I regret it. I'm not saying a bad performance but look, my all in one printer is not fully supported wirelessly by the imac, I had trouble finding the softwares I that need. iwork sucks and no db software. for me the imac was only web browsing machine for over 2300$ AUD. Yesterday I bought acer lapto for less than 700AUD> 4GB 500G ATI 4200 2.0GHz windows 7 64 OS and I have all the software I need to use

I switched from a MacBook to an Asus K50 with Windows 7 on it today. The MacBook would've cost me up to 1000 dollars. The Asus cost me only 480 something dollars. NOT EVEN 500 dollars, man!
I like the macbook, but I got more laptop for less money. Sorry Mac, but you guys lost on this one....

@Saturn357 The K50 is a mediocre machine with an inferior display to the mac, DDR2 memory vs. the DDR3 Memory of the mac and a slower CPU. That's not to mention the tiny trackpad vs. the much larger multitouch trackpad of the mac. You basically got what you paid for.

@AKOverlord Asus is the MOST reliable laptop brand followed by Toshiba, Sony, Apple, Dell, HP, Gateway, and then Acer. He's not going to have to replace it in little over a year due to it breaking. The only reason he would replace it is to improve performance and by that time, the Macs would still have the same hardware whereas Asus or any other PC would be with modern hardware. I mean....Mac book Pro 13's "Years ahead of its time"...yeah right Core 2 Duo is 4 years old.

I don't quite see why you would buy The XPS 13 instead of a MacBook.
At 999USD both have virtually the same specs but the macbook is thinner, lighter, has more battery life and comes with one of the best touchpads on the market.
Also Dell isn't exactly known for build quality.
After just a year of use my old 1700USD+ Dell had a worn out keyboard , worn of paint in many spots and a creaking case. And in the end the graphics card fried (was a common problem with that model)

Depends on the laptop, I'd be happy to pay $1700 for a good workstation laptop, with an i7 CPU or 3GHz+ core 2 extreme about 8GB RAM and a Quadro FX or ATI Firepro. Anything less than that is a scam.
The laptop in this video was only $971.99 by the way (it shows it at the end), which is a good price.

it's actually over 100 known viruses. But anyway you can surf safe on any laptop, even without an antivirus. however to be safe you're better off with an antivirus, regardless of your OS. if you're running OSX without an antivirus, you're just as much at risk as on Windows
As for why people buy Mac's, the mystery remains.

Of course there will eventually be security patches for known exploits, the same occurs on Windows.
But there is nowhere near the market for finding exploits in OSX as there are in Windows. Did you know you get paid almost 10 times more for finding a security exploit on Windows than you do on OS X? OSX's market share simply makes it an irrelevant target for malware developers.

People are fooled into thinking OSX is very stable but it's only because there are few hardware configurations for it. Try running a Hackintosh using the unmodified OSX kernel and you'll see that it chokes on many PC configurations.

That aside, Apple called Microsoft a few times all bent outta shape about these ads, as if they were a smear campaign (see ANY Apple ad for the definition of smear campaign) and Microsoft didn't stop airing the ads -- I still see them on TV and they still make me laugh cause of how true it all is.

I get 9 hours on my Toshiba, There's a Lenovo laptop that gets 11 hours, and the new HP Envy is said to get up to 18 hours. Not to mention all those laptops allow you to swap the battery out for a spare and get twice as long. Longest battery ever? why don't you check your facts.

I am writing extended essay on I'm a PC and Get a Mac campaigns. With a little bit of research I found out that the Dell she bought is 4.85pounds (MB 4.7pounds), has battery life of 3 hours with WiFI off and lowest brighteness of the screen (7hours on MB) and has slower precessor (2.13 comparing to 2.26 on MB) and the only thing better about it is the 1GB more RAM. But really, this is dumb, MB is way better for her for the same price, haha... :D

The capacity of the batteries are about the same in watt/hours, but the MB uses a superior Li-polymer type. And actually, the Dell also has a faster hard drive (7200 vs 5400 rmp). Two ounces lighter is not a benefit. All in all, the baseline MB can beat the baseline XPS by a small margin and certain standards.
However, when the XPS13 is spec'd up to equal the MBP13 2.53GHz model, the XPS is $400 cheaper ($1100 vs $1500).

You're right the battery life on these XPS 13's was poor, probably not the best choice for what she wanted, a dell studio 14 would have been better with it's 6 hour battery, and cost less. But you are comparing a $980 laptop to what was at the time a $1200 Macbook, also at the time of this ad I think the Macbook was only 2.1Ghz (the ads started in March)

yea the 16 lasts like 2 30 hours which is poor but fine for me since i dont spend much time away from the charger. just for 2 hours for a trip to the library to work on projects, but for her, a case can go on for 4-5 hours so not that great. If anything she should get a 9 cell attachment. for it. I should do that too.
