for the record AP, it is NOT, NOT, NOT, pronounced "Dice-K". i don't know how to show how to correctly pronounce it, but im just letting you know that you're pronouncing it wrong.
also while were at it, Buchholz is NOT pronounced "buck-holts" it is correctly pronounced "byoo-holts", it is german. that goes for pitcher clay buchholz and the University of Clemson Tiger football kicker by the name of Buchholz
Apologies for stopping by but I saw this post and had to comment. Buchholz: the words origin is German but the word itself is American-English - an adaptation probably of Buchenholz meaning beech wood. If you want the correct German pronunciation, the closest we're gonna get here is booch-holts, as there's certainly no y in there. Sorry to be pedantic but I adore the German language!
my high school is actually called Buchholz High School, and i have a german friend. he, his parents, and the french teacher at my school confirm that Buchholz is pronounced like the schools name, "byoo-holts", byoo rhyming with "mew". from what i have learned, buchholz is actually purely german. i may be wrong about that much, but i know how its pronounced
