what would you do if you were in the space station then a meteor hit earth and you along with your crew on the space station were the last humans alive? *this is all hypothetically speaking of course, lol*
You can't see any stars because the exposure is set for the reflected light off the station. That's too low to pick up stars. Try to take a picture of the moon with your camera. If the exposure is correct, you won't see any stars. If you severely overexpose the moon, you might catch some stars.
Go outside on a bright clear sunny day. Look up. Tell me if you see any stars.
I'll save you some time. You won't. Why? BECAUSE IT'S DAYTIME!!!!
Same thing during this flyaround shot. It's daytime. The glare of the light off the Earth washes out any chance of seeing stars.
However, during night-time passes, the crew can see stars...very vividly in fact, they even have a 3D effect because they're not looking through the atmosphere.
The two closest solar panels to where Discovery was docked were facing backwards for various reaons (thermal, g-load, and rocket exhaust constraints). Since Discovery was far enough away they were moved back to be in sync with the other arrays.
If we are this smart and if obama doesn't cancel the new shuttles we would have alot faser ships stronger ships
and could carry more supplies
that would be awesome

its 100% hypothetical, meteorites are too small, but miniplanets could be a problem, it depends how big it would be....

fine then, asteroids... remember, it's hypothetical! lol

The CCDs on the cameras aren't sensitive enough to pick them up, our eyes are better :)

Hard to believe the size of it eh?

Nope. It needs more solar panels.
;P

Actually, the two rotating arrays are suntracking for power. The other arrays are fixed for loads and erosion reasons.
