  • make sure you end the tune in E-flat, like Jimmy Yancey always did......

  • @d820m I think I ended in Eflat...!?

    ~Eeco

  • your version is great, but it differs somewhat form what is in the notes, with so many interpretations, there is deffinately a path to success

  • I learned this one with listening to the cd..maybe I dont play it always right but I get close I Think :) ..thanks anyway ! :)

  • @hardToSignUpHere

I can almost guarantee that Yancey himself played it a bit different each time. Just the nature of jazz/blues and improv. It almost needs to be different each time.

  • yes, thats good. but its hard to learn something like that from the notes... i guess one just has to listen and try to interpret that, or?

  • @hardToSignUpHere

Yep, these guys were so good they could hear the melody of the song and improvise a left hand bass part, probably improvise on the melody too. Early form of Jazz "faking"?

  • ABSOULUTELY PERFECT!! I think maybe you used the same microphone! Yes, perfect. Please keep engaging.

  • I think so yes ^^ , thanks anyway =)

  • I just LOVE those freaky Eb endings!

Five stars (and a half!) for you!

  • Yes that's typical Yancey :) makes it all complete. Have fun!

  • I TOLD YOU! He's an alien! OK...#1-he's too young! #2-he plays by ear #3- I'm pretty sure his girlfriend or wife is also drop-dead gorgeous! It's just not normal! IT'S FREAKY!! lol. But I'll stand up to anyone for the title as #1 fan!

  • Im from Mars lol,1. I look still young 2. I have big ears so figure out 3. I wish I have a gf so she can massage my arms because of the boogie woogie 4. yes im freaky in kind of way but in a swinging way :) anyway thanks and enjoy it!!

  • thank you for posting this & all your BW videos!!!! i read yancey ended his songs w/Eb, so i think that must've been one at the end here. :) i'll keep watching & maybe find some ways to relax & speed up my right hand (i'm a lefty). thanks again !!

  • its my pleasure, yes he plays in other keys ,such as in E-flat, A-flat and it sounds so easy going but its not because timing is very important with his pieces..enjoy!

  • I love to hear you play. Keep the videos coming. Thanks for sharing your great talent.

  • It's my pleasure to share my music with the world..:)

  • Verrry nice. You won a new fan.

  • that's great..enjoy the video's :)

  • Jimmy Yancey was surely one of the Godfathers of Boogie&Blues. Not as easy to play as it sounds...

Not many here on youtube try playing him, especially his faster pieces. My request: "Yancey's Buggle Call" - I know you can do it...

  • Sorry I have never heard of the "Yancey's Buggle Call" is it possible you can send me the mp3 of that? Thanks! :)

  • Yeah for every one Ammons or Johnson bassline I play there has got to be two of Yancey's that I can't even touch. He was such a genious.

  • This is my favorite. Thanks for making me happy.
