@CoolWorldMusic Have to disagree - she is the best vocalist in any popular music anywhere, and that's just a fact of nature. Incredibly expressive and powerful. She's smokin' in every sense. A fearfully tight band too and some mighty killer steel. A+++
Does anybody know if the instrument Neko is playing is a Gibson LGO guitar that's been converted to a ukulele? I thought the largest conventional ukulele (baritone) had an overall length of 30"....this instrument seems to have a length in the 38" - 42".
It's a tenor guitar, normally tuned in fifths usually CGDA, giving it a very "open sound". Neko states (in Acoustic Guitar Magazine) that she prefers the tenor guitar to a six string because she can't make "a six string guitar sound like music". I doubt that!
Anybody know where I can find this whole ACL performance in decent quality? I have a Ryan Adams ACL performance to trade if interested- the one that starts with "Kiss before I go" and ends with "Cold Roses". Thanks
em - G - C - C There's not much room to go more crazy em - G - C - em - em A flaming sword above my head for all of you to see C - em - C - em Beware my girl, beware, beware my girl, beware B - B - B - B Of these memories C - C - em - em(em7) And what is real C - C - em - em What is real
There's a trick known by Seattle's bartenders to put on Neko at about 1am so all the drunk single DUDES hangin out til closing time ... bail before the end of the 3rd tune.
This is amazing. I'd pretty much given up on popular music and retreated to my Bach and Mozart. What an idiotic world we live in when "singers" like Britney Spears and her ilk make millions from tasteless fools and confused adolescents.
Me too, love that tenor guitar and her vocal performance. You really get the mood in this one, comes through crystal clear. Favorite is another good one.
Neko Case's acclaimed new album Middle Cyclone (Anti- Records) has debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200, the highest opening to date in 2009 by an independent release on Billboard's main album chart. Middle Cyclone also bows at #1 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart.

Tons o' talent on that stage - not to slight Neko, but Jon Rauhouse (pedal steel) and Kelly Hogan (backup vox) are incredibly gifted musicians in their own right.
