My brother in law is having the same problem. He got one of the new kinnect xbox and plays mw3. It horrible tried hardline controller, changing settings and nothing works. It also dose it playing just regular games as well.
I have the same problem. Bought a diff controller thinking it was that. Didn't fix shit. Dropped playstation's res down to 480p haven't played it since to see if it fixed it. Also have the game for xbox and the controls are impeccable. I have an accuracy double of my playstation's because all I do is snipe and it's impossible to do it well because of the lag on PS3. I can't see how others don't notice this issue.
@Ch4osSh4dow I use the same controller for BC2, and that plays perfectly. It's the game. Dice have admitted there's a problem with it, they're just taking far too long to fix it. I actually posted a thread on the BF3 forum a few weeks back asking for videos showing "No Controller Lag". There were quite a few videos posted, and EVERY ONE of the "No Lag" videos showed really bad controller lag!! It seems some people just can't tell when their controls are lagging.
@MrBfjohn Yea wow so bad, a huge game release and they do it so bad after the first update. They will lose a lot of fans during the process of waiting for a next update, because a lot of people will put the game a side because u can't play it normally anyway. I hope they'll fix it soon then. So I can get further with my campaign aswell,.... They did bad on the headsets too in the beginning, they were laggy alott. Ahhh well all we can do is wait for the update...
And about the problem with your campaign im having the same problem, I seem to get stuk at a certain part of a mission after the last update. It's kind off weird because the singleplayer doesn't need to connect to ea online, it gets a disconnect anyways and throws me out. I might try restarting the campaign might solve the problem. Or else they should update badly...

@SeanDorling my tv is an lg. which did have terrible lag in all games when I first used it. I contacted LG and they sent out some updated firmware. But there is another fix if you're using hdmi. Go to the home page, then the input page. The blue button then gets you to the "Input label" screen. Name that hdmi "PC". This removes the lag from the TV. But I tried BF3 with several TV's. That has it no matter what.
I still have/had this problem. Got this game for Christmas. I found it unplayable and sent it back as faulty and got a refund. I'm not paying for a game that I can't play and enjoy, when I have never had a problem with any games in my 4 years of owning a PS3. It's ridiculous0.

There is a fix though. you need to set the ps3 resolution to 576p (pal) or 480p (ntsc). It will make the game look like shit, like you said, but at least you can play it.
I have the problem also and am super annoyed! I'm not a bad player but if I can get 5 kills instead of 15, I'm lucky with the lag problem. They need to fix hopefully soon. Thanks for putting this up to show people that we're not alone in this.

Same here, but urs is a lot worse than mine. I have a SDTV and i still get controller lag. I don't remember having this problem in the beta. I can't even stay on a moving target. It's so frustrating. I almost want to stop playing BF3 until they fix it, ad who knows how long that'll be. At least they've finally admitted it's there and are looking into it.

Ok, apparently dice are releasing a patch next week. PC players get it immediately, and console players will have to wait whilst it's cleared by Sony/Microsoft. Should be a couple of weeks after when it's available for those.
Comparing movement for Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 under the same conditions [video output/tv/ect] The Battlefield 3 would be alot better for controls than it would be an extrodinary multiplayer.
@Revektion I tried the game again last night just to see if I could live with it, but it's just too hard. If someone moves whilst I'm shooting them I just can't track them fast enough to finish them off. I end up with a load of kill assists, but very few kills. Saying that, I am managing to hold a win/loose of 3, and a k/d of 1.6. Not bad considering the disadvantage!
@MrBfjohn Yep, somehow I've got a KD of 2.3 and a WL of 5.6. Very happy about that, but the game is just not worth it for me in this state. Fucking piece of crap if you ask me. I tweeted DICE about it a month and a half ago and they said they were aware of the problem, but nothing's happened since. Really starting to lose faith now.

@iBravoWiLLiaMz The term lag gets used very loosely nowadays but in this case it's as in lagging behind. And it's not a controller delay problem, it'd affect all games then.
It's input lag, from the game using vertical sync (input lag is basically when a picture gets processed/put on "hold" before it's displayed on the screen) Turning the resolution down to 576p on the PS3 makes the vertical sync go away most of the time and you get much more responsive controls but horrible screen tearing.
@ameg89 the only reason xbox users have an additional HD install pack os because it only has a DVD drive. The Sony's Blu Ray can fit it all on the one disc, so no need to make it an optional extra.
is the hd install pack available for the non-limited edition? on ps3 i bought it and it never asked for a 2gb install....input lag is an issue but i use the f2000 to compensate for this :)

Yeah mate. I spent about an hour trying various different settings, cables, and even different TV's. When all those failed I tried altering audio options, and sending the audio by HDMI, then RCA, and finally by Fibre Optic. Nothing fixed it.
@drgregur I'm using a high speed HDMI. Any HDMI that will do 1.3 will do 1.4. There's no difference in them really. I regularly watch 3D content using this cable. But Battlefield isn't 3D anyway. It's only 720p 2D. Not even full HD. I'd save your money if you're thinking of buying a new HDMI.
There is a tv setting specifically for gaming, but the TV is set to that. It's the first thing I checked. It's definitely the game. Even Dice have admitted it now.
Could it be that you need a HDMI Cable v.1.4a? Got 2 friend with no problem, and the thing that difffer is the cable. Not able to test it yet. I Know there is a "must" to have that cable when play 3D Bluray on PS3 to get the best picture.. What do you think? Maybe its a video lag back to screen?

@soujahh I'm on PS3 so the HD pack you get on xbox is just part of the normal installation. I think that's just higher detail textures though. Probably because it wouldn't all fit on a single DVD, but would on a Blu-Ray. The worrying thing is, I've just found a page on a dice website explaining what they're working on, and it seems to all be matchmaking and server stuff.

I know that guy said there hadn't been any changes, but something is causing it. It'll get patched for sure. I just hope they pull their socks up and get it sorted asap!

My TV does have a Game mode... Well it's an LG so it's listed as "PC" mode. Which does significantly reduce video lag. But it's been set to that the whole time. If I turn that off you're looking at more like half a second lag! And I've tried the various PS3 HDMI options, but they didn't help on my system. Looks like I'll just have to stop playing till the patch comes out.
Thank god. I thought I was the only one having an issue with controller lag. My friends never complained. I thought its my TV so I tuned it down to 720p and it worked, I turned RGB Full Range in Display Settings to Full and that worked a bit. But still facing some discomfort while turning/aiming at enemies. Also depending on your TV check the GameMode, I found my GameMode in a option menu that's completely irrelevant. It's a great game. Just has server+controller lag.
Same problem, I feel cheated because I've been waiting for this game for a while now, and while I can accept the limitations of the PS3(graphics dumbed down, 24 player cap), a shooting game where you can't really shoot really disappoints. I'm currently playing BC2 until they fix it, BF3 is just sitting there collecting dust.
@Mageh223 Mine's a fat one too, but I've seen a few videos with Slims suffering too. I've tried every setting I can on the PS3 so I don't think there's anything we can do about it.
Tell me about it fella. I've played with Marcel, Andy, Richy and Colin, and none of them seem to have this problem, but evidently lots of people are experiencing it. I've since tried lowering my resolution but that made no difference. The PS3 has been updated to the latest software so it isn't that. Still, Uncharted 3 is out in a couple of days, so I'll have something to keep me occupied in the mean time :op

I'm living in the UK at the moment and have found that the lag on this game is horrendous,
between 5pm and 1am i just cannot play. My soldier hops jaggedly forward instead of
running, get him to go prone and he jumps up, reload a weapon and he doesn't sticking
ammo in it and i mean doesn't stop. WTF is going on with it, i cant even get a game on quick
match, between those hours i have to search the servers for a non UK server or it wont play.

Lowering the res helps as he said, but if I wanted to play on the Wii I'd go and play on the Wii.

That's not a controller lag, that's a controller delay. Lag is when FPS drops and when it is low.

I think there's a problem with your tv. are you using any type of the default image settings? When I put my tv on game mode I get some horrible lag.

@MrBfjohn I think it might be the HD pack installed ,game is heavier now ,this might causing the issue ,beta has no HD pack installed for streaming .No clue though,still play it on 720p,trying to get used to it

My TV does have a Game mode... Well it's an LG so it's listed as "PC" mode. Which does significantly reduce video lag. But it's been set to that the whole time. If I turn that off you're looking at more like half a second lag! And I've tried the various PS3 HDMI options, but they didn't help on my system. Looks like I'll just have to stop playing till the patch comes out.

Thank god. I thought I was the only one having an issue with controller lag. My friends never complained. I thought its my TV so I tuned it down to 720p and it worked, I turned RGB Full Range in Display Settings to Full and that worked a bit. But still facing some discomfort while turning/aiming at enemies. Also depending on your TV check the GameMode, I found my GameMode in a option menu that's completely irrelevant. It's a great game. Just has server+controller lag.

Same problem, I feel cheated because I've been waiting for this game for a while now, and while I can accept the limitations of the PS3(graphics dumbed down, 24 player cap), a shooting game where you can't really shoot really disappoints. I'm currently playing BC2 until they fix it, BF3 is just sitting there collecting dust.

@Mageh223 Mine's a fat one too, but I've seen a few videos with Slims suffering too. I've tried every setting I can on the PS3 so I don't think there's anything we can do about it.

Tell me about it fella. I've played with Marcel, Andy, Richy and Colin, and none of them seem to have this problem, but evidently lots of people are experiencing it. I've since tried lowering my resolution but that made no difference. The PS3 has been updated to the latest software so it isn't that. Still, Uncharted 3 is out in a couple of days, so I'll have something to keep me occupied in the mean time :op

The beta was fine for me, which is why I was surprised when that guy said there hadn't been any changes! My most used PSN is jbec-john, so send me a request, but tell me who it is in the request or else I'll think it's just a random adder :oD

okay, im on playstation and would love to play with you john if your interested. now for your problem, ive noticed some lag but not as bad as yours. did you have this problem in the beta? hope this gets solved and we can get some battlefield videos from someone that isnt a cod player trying to be a battlefield player.
