do you know anything about the cheaper 10 dollar all black version? and what the differences are? i know that the black version uses aluminum weights instead of brass but is that the only difference? and if it is whats the downside to aluminum?

@oogiesmuncher brass is much more dense, and is thus heavier. the extra weight make there be more centrifugal force when it swings. this gives it more momentum, and makes doing some tricks much easier.

explanation for dummies: it swings with more force, meaning it can do more tricks.

My BaliYo cracked in that spot too. It didn't affect it in any way, it's just a fault in the design. I still love it!

When I bought it on ebay, I was also under the impression that it was made of metal, because it had a nice black color with silver accents. So yes, I'm a bit disappointed, but I still agree that it's a fun gadget and a great conversation starter in school or office.

I just recently purchased one on their website and i'm eagerly awaiting its arrival. Because of my work, I am able to use a real Balisong (Benchmade Model 42) on a daily basis without problem however i've very tough with my knife simply because I know many tricks with it. Seeing this review honestly has me a little worried, however now that I am aware, I will be more gentle than I probably would have been.

I did... I only have one crack and one on the other handle is forming. Spyderco said to ship it to them but I'm going to wait until I get 4 cracks since they aren't really in the way at all for me.

I think the price is pretty in line for this type of gadget. Keep in mind it doesn't make a great pen. It works ok, but as a pen it wouldn't be my favorite. I would ONLY get this if you really like balisong type flipping and want to do it in public where sheepeople won't be afraid of you.
