@satamique Thanks I agree with you about the tempo of the sond and the way ALEX plays it live , much slower than I play it. However I have seen him play relatively fast and also on the very slow side depending on his mood.
Very good! I like your cover cause it shows an interesting approach to the song, you didn`t just learn it and recorded it but gave the piece a nice twist with the introduction and some personal details here and there.
Thats funny !!! Yeah, being a Yankee fan isnt all that its cracked up to be! THe new stadium is nice but I wish they had bulit the new one around the old field. What a shame. Hallowed ground.

If you guys have ever studied Neil's lyrics, you know where his influences in objectivism come from. I'm no disciple of anyone, but I'm running a congressional campaign that will be based on those same philosophies. I'd be much obliged if you'd all critique my video's for my campaign.
PS I also put a few of my old guitar solo's in there for you.
Pete, Standard tuning is EADGBE Start from the bottom E, tune it down a whole step to D so, now you have the DAD portion. Now the tough one...the G has to go up to A ( a whole step) . This will probably pop your wound G string. The next B string has to go down to A and should be an octave higher than the 5th string (already tuned to A and should be exctly the same as the A that you tuned next to it (formerly G). The high E must go down to D...Thats it... Let me know how you make out Pete.
thank you!!! that took me less than a minute to do....what an awsome sound. i guess the Beatles used this tuning judging from your intro...did Led Zep use this one as well?
(again thanks for the help, i'll probably keep this tuning forever now!) lol peteinfl
Chris, I heard a clip of Alex playing Nor Wood before Hope one day ...(you tube)so I threw it in there . I do not believe the Beatles used this tuning. As far as I can tell, Led Zep did not use this tuning either and I have explored all of the Zep tunings over the years. Thanks !!!
When I kept breaking the G string I just put a B string where the G is supposed to be and tuned it to an A. It worked great because it is just as tight as the B string when it is tuned down to and A when you're in DADAAD tuning so it doesn't break like the G does.
hey chris, im from the burg 2! i'm 14 and figured this whole song out, i just dont have a way of posting it. i play it differently than this guy, though. go rays/bucs/gators
yeah, you just need to get slightly higher gauge, lower tension strings(say a set of 11-49 gauge strings as opposed to a 9-46 set)so they can handle different tunings easier. I find that the light strings on my acoustic can handle dadaad well enough though.
I am SPEECHLESS. WOW! Note for note this sounds identical to the original. Rush covers are not easy, and you certainly can't fake your way through it. Nice chops!
Very nice, nice segue. Now run out and get a 12 and post the third version. You know you really need a 12 for this song. Alex Rodriguez must have a 12. That's big Al, right?
@quispis, the intro was actually "Norwegian Wood". Kudos on a superb job on this cover! Alex would be proud!

Why guitarist tend to play fast? Where is the feeling? Watch Alex play this song live on youtube it,s much slower and he play with a lot of emotion.
But your technic is really good and i like the way you play it, in your own way but it's too fast. But better than others cover i saw.

What's the best way to keep the G string from breaking? I know F# is sometimes used, but it totally changes the way you play the song.
Do I just need heavier strings?
TheVogels 3 years ago
No I dont reccomend that. Just buy extras !!!
