I was thinking of something while I heard this song.
The way "Rory" sounds in this, it reminds me a lot of how Jackie and Mickey were like when the Doctor took Rose. "If you keep putting her in danger you're gonna get her killed" was actually the line that jumped out to me.
Rory is One of my favorite companions in the entire series (including the 1-time companions in the specials) and I think the doctor really has a lot of respect for Rory, because of all the things he's done for Amy, including voluntarily spending nearly 2000 years of devotion to guarding Amy while she was asleep in the Pandorica, making him actually OLDER than the doctor himself
I think the Doctor needs a cap on his regenerations. Without that sense of mortality, he becomes like Superman. You know he's a good guy, and you root for him, but ultimately, you know he's never going to die, so you quit caring about him. Besides, if the Doctor is not really risking his life, then it seems very selfish of him to put his very mortal friends in danger all the time, just because he's lonely.

Those are the only deaths I can think of, off the top of my head... but not every companion has a happy ending.
@howen77 He does have a cap. It was established a long time ago that he has 13 lives, meaning 12 regenerations. And a regeneration can be stopped if both of his hearts stop before the process is finished.

It doesn't necisarilly mean that she wants to leave, heck it could be because of Rory deciding to go back to being a Nurse. Dont jump to conclusions.

But compared to the vast majority of other companions? Give me Ace, Rory, Leela, Romana, Ian, Susan, Jamie, Donna, Martha, hell, even Grace Holloway.

You made a huge deal out of something that could have just been "I don't like Rose, but prefer the older companions." (And for the record, I think Three's car and the Bridger (sp?) where the best companions.)
Also, Rory WAS in that list. As well as Donna and Martha. And Grace (counting her as an intermediary). Besides, when someone attempts to point out why a character is awesome, I'm certainly entitled to point out why they aren't.

2. She did not save the universe. It was already shown in "The Mysterious Planet (6th Doctor)", "The Ark(1st Doctor)", and "The End Of The World (9th Doctor)" that things were occuring well after the events of "The Parting Of The Ways", with no Dalek troubles.

@mikebike2222 well he may not have one because due to old time gallifreyan rules time lords aren't supposed to regenerate past 11, which is why 11 is such a big deal. however, when has the doctor ever followed the rules? :P
I personally think that after the 12th regeneration that the show will move into a much more lighthearted/less apocalyptic direction. They've been almost ending all of time and space a bit too much in the last seasons IMO. They need to get back to pwning slitheen and the like
@MrLoxinator according to several sources, including many of the oldest comics, the number that the timelords are "allowed" to regenerate in their culture is eleven, but it really varies. the series has been going for almost five decades. there's going to be some continuity problems.
Of course they could do something like, because River Song used her regenerations to save him, he somehow got hers. It would allow the series to go on quite a bit longer.
Amy and Rory are good together, but i cant get over how beautiful Amy and the Doctor would be together. I think that would be like one of the best couples ever(:

Yes, I love that Amy loves Rory. but she and the doctor would've been beautiful together too. Their friendship is amazing. Eleven and Amy have one of the best doctor/companion relationships in the series. She knew about the doctor her whole childhood unlike most companions. Eleve/Amy/Rory ♥

the actors have actually talked about if they did a musical what it would be like. I think they should. Some creature does something to them and they have to sing all the time.
I honestly don't understand all this Amy hate over her treatment of Rory. Even as an Eleven/Amy shipper, it's clear to me that Amy loves Rory much more than she does the Doctor, and except for 5.05 (which was when she was seriously fucked up anyway), she's always shown that she'll always choose Rory in the end, and she does. If anything, it's The Doctor she's always taking for granted, what with her always blaming him for not being able to correct every single thing that goes wrong in her life.
I think the best part about Amy is that she COULD love the Doctor. She COULD be like Rose and love the greatest man in all of creation - but she DOESN'T. She cares about the Doctor (kind of a requirement) but she chooses Rory. Always. She will always choose Rory. He can - and will - always be insecure about Amy. But she will always choose him over the Doctor.
I love that she chooses Rory. Because THAT is the strongest love of all. The one where it wins out OVER the DOCTOR. Really, that's love.

@TheRxm19 that doesn't mean she wants to leave. the Doctor could have to do something or feel the need to move on because he keeps on making Amy wait for him. It doesn't necisarilly mean that she wants to leave, heck it could be because of Rory deciding to go back to being a Nurse. Dont jump to conclusions.

@lostsagadragon Two things; 1. RTD was good at pulling Deus Ex Machinas out of his ass. He didn't need one of the most useless companions to gain godlike power to save the Doctor.
2. She did not save the universe. It was already shown in "The Mysterious Planet (6th Doctor)", "The Ark(1st Doctor)", and "The End Of The World (9th Doctor)" that things were occuring well after the events of "The Parting Of The Ways", with no Dalek troubles.

Amy sucks, but she brought us Rory. That's like complaining about how bad the technology used to shoot Citizen Kane was; that's not the part that matters. What matters is what the inferior, crappy thing is giving us in the form of an awesome thing. In fact, if I could choose, Jack and Rory would be the doctors companions next season... although I suppose there's a reason I'm NOT writing for the show.

@mikebike2222 well he may not have one because due to old time gallifreyan rules time lords aren't supposed to regenerate past 11, which is why 11 is such a big deal. however, when has the doctor ever followed the rules? :P
I personally think that after the 12th regeneration that the show will move into a much more lighthearted/less apocalyptic direction. They've been almost ending all of time and space a bit too much in the last seasons IMO. They need to get back to pwning slitheen and the like

@MrLoxinator according to several sources, including many of the oldest comics, the number that the timelords are "allowed" to regenerate in their culture is eleven, but it really varies. the series has been going for almost five decades. there's going to be some continuity problems.

I honestly don't understand all this Amy hate over her treatment of Rory. Even as an Eleven/Amy shipper, it's clear to me that Amy loves Rory much more than she does the Doctor, and except for 5.05 (which was when she was seriously fucked up anyway), she's always shown that she'll always choose Rory in the end, and she does. If anything, it's The Doctor she's always taking for granted, what with her always blaming him for not being able to correct every single thing that goes wrong in her life.

I think the best part about Amy is that she COULD love the Doctor. She COULD be like Rose and love the greatest man in all of creation - but she DOESN'T. She cares about the Doctor (kind of a requirement) but she chooses Rory. Always. She will always choose Rory. He can - and will - always be insecure about Amy. But she will always choose him over the Doctor.
I love that she chooses Rory. Because THAT is the strongest love of all. The one where it wins out OVER the DOCTOR. Really, that's love.
