The problem is that many companies and pubilc service organizations confuse leadership with management. A leader can be an effective manager, but most managers are not effective as leaders. Pure managers are bureaucrats who merely follow the established protocol. Employees don't feel fulfilled because the organization's purpose seems so hollow.

Thanks - actually the video camera does not do the audience justice - they were great - and the mike round my neck does not capture their laughter etc. They were fun to be with, responsive and I had brilliant feedback.

I would like to thank your for your video post. I really appreciate it when you post full presentations as opposed to bits and pieces because the context is very important to the flow of your speech. Even though I'm thousands of miles away and possibly years ahead of the speech I still feel like I am an audience member when I can experience the presentation as a whole.

South West Scotland has similar problems, young people move away to attend university and with few jobs there is no real incentive to return.

Is there anywhere we can see the video which was cut?

Some interesting things to consider. Very true. In my last two years at university I did not feel I was learning anything and as a result I did less work and rarely attended lectures.

Still managed to pass everything. I did not collect my degree however as I have come to the opinion they are rather meaningless. I no longer have any interest in the subject.
