there's something magical about this intro. it would be impossible to recreate something like this with a soulless digital computer. long live analog.
Oh my god I am 26 & this brings a tear to my eye. I was born in 1985 when WWE & Hulk-Hogan were establishing dominance, maybe if I were a little older growing up during those days...
I remember this and then the music of "Thriller" with the Hulkster getting pumped up backstage ready to enter the arena.. ends with him pinning the Iron Sheik and getting his hands raised in glory.
I don't care if some people say golden age era is better than attitude era, or pg era is similar to golden age era, because any era in wwe is better than the wrestling we have right now.
i was born in 86 and first thing i watched on tv was WWF and i never stopped watching it ever since. I remember this and i also remember the coliseum video intro with the cube that spun around with footage being shown on each side. Also the awesome "WHAT THE WORLD IS WATCHING" intro that came around in 88... love that one.
What it will always be! POACH DA PANDA'S! not the animal, but the hypocrite fund! they're hypocrites! then eat meat & wear clothes, and where did that come from...? WILDLIFE! LoL truth is truth Long Live the Federation!!!!!!
This was the best era by far in the history of the WWF Vince McMahon or whoever is running the WWE into the ground this week can sugar coat all they want. They will never match the hero vs villan match again.
@steeltownbrown52 WHAT? the attitude era was the best man....before 1995 wwf was amaazing with macho man, ultimate warrior, hogan but they never had the full on storylines that the attitude era had. The attitude era had the superstars and the perfect storylines
@xxjamaalxx Naw the Attitude Era was nothing but a side show. By the middle of the 2000's the WWE kind of had the Attitude Era in spirit and they just got worse and worse. It wasn't until Fall of 2007 when they focused on being a pure wrestling promotion again. As for 2010, WWE has went somewhat stale.
@steeltownbrown52 in my opinion i reckon wwe went downhill after 2002, it never kept me wanting more after 3 hours raw episodes! But the attitude era,for me, was when wwe was simply amazing, i feel for the kids who never got to watch it every friday.
hulk hogan has one last match against a female wrestler in japan named big mamma.she is 6feet 6 inches tall and weighs 666 lbs!her chops are deadly and she has a mysterious finisher called the bbd.hogan is in serious danger.
it don't matter if it is The Golden Age to The Attitude era all the era's of the World Wrestling Federation is better than the crap WWE dishes out today.
@D2Kprime That was the only episode I have watched in years except for the couple of Bret Vince back in Jan/Feb of this year. The old school raw was great...It was awesome to see the old ropes/turnbuckles. Makes it a better show. I grew up going to Madison Square Garden in the 80's. At least we got to enjoy it while it was around.
Yes the 90's had some good moments. But the 80's had legends. Wrestlemania 3, Hulk Hogan vs Andre the Giant. Not that the match was that great, but it was two figures that pretty much everyone in the world knew, even if you were not a wrestling fan, you knew Hogan and Andre. Plus Wrestlemania 3 still holds the indoor attendance world record for any sporting event with over 93,000 in attendance, with the main event as the main draw. Was in the Pontiac Silver dome in Pontiac Michigan in 1987.
Trust me when I say this kids, the 80's was where it was at. Today's wrestling isn't even remotely interesting. Look up on youtube The Dragon vs Macho Man for widely regarded as the best match in history. 1987.
Both decades were perfect. Just in different ways. Granted, my childhood was distinctly in the 90's. So I have a strong connection to that sharper manical edge. But the 80's were built under a different mindset with a greatness that shines on its own.
People have their personal favorite and that's cool. But what I think some of us can agree on is comparing both timelines to today, the present time (in WWE's case) is lacking a little somethin'-somethin'.
What the WWE is doing now. Is smart from a business stand point. There expanding, and just generating more money. Of course. I don't watch that trash. ;)
I can't really watch it either. And you're right, it is a brilliant move to get all the money you can however you can. Maybe it's the fact that it's a low point in wrestling or I've just been watching too long, but nothing feels right about it anymore. Nothing really grooves. Hard to explain. And that's why video sites like this one, dvds, and the now rare artifact that is the vhs tape are a very comforting thing to have.
Nah they limit the wrestling, and its basically a kids show now. Its horrible, I remember enjoying the attitude era when I was a kid. If I wanted some kiddy crap. I would have watched cartoons.
True that. But it's also because there's no heart in many of the promos and stuff anymore. Anybody can recite stuff and read off of cue cards. Very few of 'em can dig deep and make the audience believe in what they're saying. Warrior and Snuka didn't make much sense. But at least there was a tone that made it go SOMEWHERE.
The kiddy stuff kinda makes sense with all the madness and political correctness. Benoit only amplified everything. Can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.
so we are in a little debate here the golden era vs the attitude era, hey my opinon I think attitude era is better but that is the era I grew up in and of course you 80s guys will say the golden era because that was your era I guess it depends what type of era you grew up in but we golden era fans and attitude era fans can agree on thing it is a thousand times better than the shit the wwe is today it doesnt even compare to the golden era or attitude era
80s wwf and japan was the best ever.wwe can suck it and does so.wcw at its worst 1999-2001 was better than wwe today and thats pretty damn sorry.we need one more run with hulk hogan and vince should beg the rock to come back.hogan,rock-n-sock and showster vs hhh, flair, hbk and batista for survivor series 2009.one last hulkamaniacs team vs new evolution.
Im not gonna lie, 80's wrestling fuckin pwned, Hogan, Flair, Savage, Sting, Steamboat, Bret Hart, Andre The Giant, and alot more. The golden era. Simply one of the best known Wrestling Era's.
But 90's Wrestling is the Greatest Era.
Bret Hart, Sycho Sid, Yokozuna, Undertaker, British Bulldogg, Diesel, Flair, Hogan, Legion of Doom, Owen Hart, Hunter Hearst Helmsley, and alot alot alot more.
No. You're only in your late teens. You obviously did not lived during the 80's where wrestling was larger than life. Trust me, if you had lived during the 80's, you would know that decade had the best display of sports entertainment. Thus, the 1980's will forever be known as the "Golden Era" of professional wrestling. Had it not been for the "Golden Era", wrestling today would probably be ceased.
From the 1980s and all the way up to now I watched the WWF/WWE. During the 1980s on TV the WWF only showed main event matches on Payperview. What was on tv during the 1980s were jobber matches.
Well most of the matches during the Attitude era were just as bad or worse. Rarely a clean pin or a non-interference result, non-main events were short and brawl-oriented, just like the 80s.
first off, you must be really bored to search through the comment history of this video and then reply 3 weeks later.
second off, the matches in the attitude era had more meaning and background to them. the late 90s made matches and the title mean something. short matches, controversy, and alot of feuds. basicly "trash tv" as called by vince russo, the one responsible for the early years of the attitude era.
Wow, nice enraged comeback to a very mild dissenting opinion. Um, "3 weeks later"? I responded upon seeing your post, which was TODAY. The notion of late 90s matches being of generally low quality is a commonly held one. WWF placed emphasis on "pushing boundaries" in angles over ring work. But yea you got me, I'm bored, so I must be disregarded *roll*. A tip: Don't post on YT if you don't want dissenting or "late" responses. Funny, because you disagreed with someone first.
enraged? its funny how you suddenly assume i was enraged. i just dont like it when people reply to my comments 3 weeks later. and that comment i left WAS three weeks ago. but i cant argue with you if thats your opinion. if you like the 80s, hey thats fine with me. i like the 90s better. so what? anyways, nice opinion.
Wrestling back then was the shit. Now Wrestling sucks these days. Gay superstars today like Charlie Haas, Jimmy Wang Yang, & Cade & Murdoch. great superstars back then like Hogan, JYD, Hillbilly Jim, Roddy Piper, Mr. Perfect, & Andre.
If it wasn't for the 'Attitude Era', wrestling would be dead. Alot of people are still laughing when you say you watch wrestling, because the only memories they have is wrestlers in bright thights with too much oil on them. It was aiming for the kids back then, now it's for adults. When you stop to evolve, you die.
Actually, wrestling is still very much for kids and adults who are childlike. WWE may have sexual "Adult" content but it's still very low-brow and simplistic.
Wrestling outside of the WWF/E has NEVER been low brow. Wrestling is better when it's wrestling. If you want to say something is "more adult" please use the term "sports entertainment" because there is a difference.
Actually, if it wasn't for ECW and Eric Bishoffs nWo concept, there would of been no "Attitude Era". Maybe wrestling would of been better off without Vince McMAhon during those times, considering he ruined everything.
I don't have a clue of what? Vince McMahon revolutionized wrestling? I am an idiot? The only time McMahon revolutionized wrestling was in the 80s because he ruined all the wrestling territories. In the 90s, Bishoff and ECW was the innovators of professional wrestling.
the 90s are part of the reason wrestling is on it's ass now. Wrestling doesn't belong in the mainstream because that's not what the business is about. Wrestling is better as an otherworldly type thing not as some wannabe soap opera. Sports entertainment is wannabe reality TV, which sucks.
wwe should wwf sooner or later animnals a gonna be long gone and wwe will be ruuning still so then they can change it to wwf 4 good and be more hardcore.
It's simple:
WWF: The Recognized Symbol of Excellence in Sports Entertainment!
WWE: The Recognized Symbol of Crap!

Well most of the matches during the Attitude era were just as bad or worse. Rarely a clean pin or a non-interference result, non-main events were short and brawl-oriented, just like the 80s.
xreddragonx 3 years ago
first off, you must be really bored to search through the comment history of this video and then reply 3 weeks later.
second off, the matches in the attitude era had more meaning and background to them. the late 90s made matches and the title mean something. short matches, controversy, and alot of feuds. basicly "trash tv" as called by vince russo, the one responsible for the early years of the attitude era.

When you stop to evolve, you die.
bigben0316 4 years ago
Actually, wrestling is still very much for kids and adults who are childlike. WWE may have sexual "Adult" content but it's still very low-brow and simplistic.
Wrestling outside of the WWF/E has NEVER been low brow. Wrestling is better when it's wrestling. If you want to say something is "more adult" please use the term "sports entertainment" because there is a difference.
princesstamika 4 years ago
Actually, if it wasn't for ECW and Eric Bishoffs nWo concept, there would of been no "Attitude Era". Maybe wrestling would of been better off without Vince McMAhon during those times, considering he ruined everything.
GamingPalooza 4 years ago 3
No,you don't have a clue. Vince McMahon revolutinised wrestling, you my friend, are an idiot!!
manicmacintosh 3 years ago
I don't have a clue of what? Vince McMahon revolutionized wrestling? I am an idiot? The only time McMahon revolutionized wrestling was in the 80s because he ruined all the wrestling territories. In the 90s, Bishoff and ECW was the innovators of professional wrestling.
GamingPalooza 3 years ago 2
Yeah they were so innovative they both got bought by WWE. Thats pretty darn innovative.....

hey screw u! The attitude era is a freakin milestone
Bigstarrocker9 4 years ago
so what u r trying to say peace0ff is that hogan winning all the time in the 80s was better than unpredictable storylines of the 90s?
ChazmaniacGeneration 4 years ago
the 90s are part of the reason wrestling is on it's ass now. Wrestling doesn't belong in the mainstream because that's not what the business is about. Wrestling is better as an otherworldly type thing not as some wannabe soap opera. Sports entertainment is wannabe reality TV, which sucks.
princesstamika 4 years ago 4
Man why don't they bring back this logo but back the F a E.
