  • Hi, I'm modelling one myself. I use inventor as well and I love it. It's just I can't find any drawings for the engine, differential or steering rack. Maybe you would like to share some? Thanks

Oh, by the way. Do you have a blog or something about the making of this car?

  • @DasIstEmpy check out PM

  • explosion ? fusion ?

  • hey is inventor good for making models for games? I use blender and though I like blender I want variety, and maya and max dont appeal to me but I used this once and was very comfortable with it.

  • @rocknroll980 i tried to use inventor once... but it didnt work so well... but maybe i did it wrong :P

  • beautiful..but is this Fusion? or Inventor itself? coz i use inventor in my studies but dont know how to make like this animation version?

  • nice

  • You havent designed it youve got a caterham and changed it a little

  • Flawless...How long it took to complete?

  • can i have an link to download that file please the old one doesnt work

  • Thanks for the update,i'm thinking of building something like it but using a modded 2500cc Triumph 6.

  • Di je mašina?

  • widać sporo pracy, nad autodeskiem siedziałeś po budowie lotka czy przed ?

  • Designed by you? Get a dictionary and look up the word.

  • OMG! We are in the 21st century! All that custom work for a restrictive live axle!! Everything is really cool, except for the rear setup.

  • I cannot locate these files, are they still in existance, can you re-post their location. It look like lots of fun modelling. Thanks in advance.

  • very nice

  • Dam it toke me 2 weeks to do a plane well a jet type of plane.....

  • perfect

  • Nice one. Trying to do a similar thing in solidworks, it ain't easy.

  • hurrah, a little light car with no engine, maybe you can push it to the finish line.... seriously do, wat kinda engine did u put in it? left me curious :P

  • I'm trying to do something like this on a motorcycle that I am building, did you do this in Inventor Studio or Presentation? I can get things to assemble in both, I just can't figure out how you made them change visibility. Any help would be great.

  • I missed your comment, sorry about that.

I did it in Inventor Studio,

"how you made them change visibility"

Sorry but I don't remember now, that was about 2 years ago, I don't use Inventor anymore, but it was simple. I don't remember any problems with that, Sorry but I can't help you morre, I don't even have Inventor student version on my PC anymore.

  • Thanks for the info and advice. Really helpfull.

    Cheers from Argentina

  • Hi,

I've been watching your videos and I'm amazed. I'm a mechanical designer so I really enjoy stuff like yours. I'm not product but jig designer

I'm looking forward building a seven or/and a 23 from scratch, and its really hard to find anything related here in Argentina.

You did build a seven from your plans? Can you tell me how can I get a copy of your plans, or where can I find 7 or 23 chassis plans?

Thanks in advance for your advice!!!

  • I built my car from my own plans, but I can't send them. Nowadays there is no problem with plans/blueprints, I just found in the google 2 free sets, no problem. Try here georgecushing(dot)net/Lotus7(dot)html You might also want to buy these two books "Tiger Avon sports car for road" and " Build your own sports car for as little as" I bought these books after I built my car. Good luck with your project.

  • I am just curious, but why can't you send them? Thanks,

    HappyMerc

  • Thanks for comments. I can't send them for at least 3 reasons.

I think that there are enough chassis blueprints available for builders, for example a few days ago I found drawings for a new Westfield chassis (with only a few dimensions, but with 3D Cad software it's not a problem)

Because virtual version isn't in 100% exact with my real car, (I didn't check geometry, etc for the virtual version.)

I don't need more problems than I have already, I've heard so many strange stories.

  • strange stories?

  • aright it's cool. i guess i missed them the first time around. now i am finding tons of them. great looking car 5/5

  • Where are those drawings? Please answer.

  • @HierNameneingeben

    roadster(dot)se/EU4.pdf

  • Not working :(

  • it works but you have to replace (dot) with .

, and add 3 x w before it, sorry but youtube won't let me to give you direct link

  • Googe Chrome does it! THANK YOU!

  • @kostucha2 puta the drecta links ina the-tags-..in description

  • @trinicaleb sry, but it seems that the link is dead

  • Well Done! What version are you using?

  • Beautifully done. I have been using pro/e to develop animations for the past few months and I am curious; how long did this take you to create (animation only)?

  • Don't remember exactly, something like 3-4 days, at the beginning it was very easy, but at the end of the animation with all these parts, it was like 2-3 h of rendering for every 10sec of animation. I was rendering at 800x600.

  • lol ya we had a problem with that. we designed a tractor in autocad, which isn't primarily for 3d objects. very time the screen movied just slightly it had a 20 minute buffer. nice man, im hopin to build one for myself someday. dream car. 5*

  • in autodesk inventor how to I add tabs to a round tube frame for things like suspension components?

  • the name of the song? really epic song

  • i think it's called clubbed to death by rob dougan

  • Where is the engine?

  • wow... awesome ...

  • Hej- jaki samochód posłużył jako dawca? też myślę nad zrobieniem lotusa i myślę jakie auto wykorzystać.pozdr.

  • HEHE u forgot the engine, but overall 5/5

    Good Work!

  • absolutely amazing! i wish i was this good.

  • oh my god! insane job! I spent 4 hours on 15 parts assemble.. how much time did it take to design everything?

  • Sorry for delay, it took me about 3 weeks, sometimes 6 hours sometimes 1 hours per day

  • did u buy the program? i have it at college but would really like it at home, wondered if you knew where to get it for free?

  • great work 5 star

  • One more thing...

How do you draw tread on the tire?

I managed to do it, but i don't think its the right way. I sketched on an extruded plane the grip design, cut, then bent the part 360.

It worked but there is a line where it joins.

I'am sure you know so many tricks.

I've only been using it for 3months and can unreal things.

  • Also have you played with Showcase studio?

  • Wow, I'am just getting started with Inventor. I love it!

I have a project that I need to build, I'll worry about the animation latter.

Thanks for showing us a real video of what is possible.

  • Also, add some support tubes at the back of the 2 roll bars behind the seats. The current ones are too weak and will break or flex in case of accident.

  • Very nice build up video! Will be even better if you add simple text comments (the names of the added parts) at each step. Give you 5 stars for the video presentation. The chassis design is good, needs only few modifications in the rear, in order to improve the rear crash protection.

  • wow, good job! how long time did it take?

  • nice work in autodesk though

  • technically this particular year is a caterham 7

  • awesome pease of work! at the moment im realy trying to learn how to sweep a pipe but i just cant get it done (with solidworks that is)

  • Was everything modeled by yourself, for example the suspension and calipers. I just wanted an idea of the learning curve.

I've never used Inventor, but I do have a reasonable knowledge of Lightwave 3D and 3DMax. I've also used AutoCad many yonks ago.

  • "Was everything modeled by yourself" yes I did every single part (even bolts and nuts lol).

"I just wanted an idea of the learning curve" I usually use radius tool sometimes u can play with surface tool or sweep up to you.

"I've never used Inventor, but I do have a reasonable knowledge of Lightwave 3D and 3DMax. I've also used AutoCad"

So u should be fine Inventor is very very easy to learn.

  • Dear god.. i can't wait until im that good with inventor. 1st year using it w/ my school. my friend at the school is building a locost. dont know what model. seems like a sweet car though, i wish i had the patients to build one.. i'd probly just get a Caterham..

Oh, Whats the name of the song?

  • Never mind on the song part, found it in the older comments ;)

  • lol u forgot the engine (it really doesn't matter) but anyway u rock!!!!

  • sweet man! i've always wanted to design/build my own locost. and i just learned autodesk inventor 11 in school. hust some basic basic stuff, but its still cool. im sure that i'll never get to design and build my own locost, but i might buy a kit one when im older. maybe a westfeild. but im only 14 so ive got time :) good job man!

  • That's amazing.

    Keep up the good work.

  • just... GREAT. who cares if it's not 100% lotus.

  • Hey do you think you could make a link to your project? I am just starting autodesk and a finished downloadable model would really help.

  • is there a trial version for this program?

  • Yes u can get 30-day trial version, write in the google Autodesk Inventor trial.

  • great film, great animation & also great choice of sound track to the purpose.

though that is not a Lotus in rigour, but more like one of the thousends of sevenesques arround the world.

    great job :)

  • "that is not a Lotus in rigour" of course I agree with you but I didnt write it's an Original Lotus Seven. Basically all Sevens are very similar and I'm not a big fan of the original version. I really like Donkevoorts.

    Thanks for comment.

  • Brilliant. If my ZX1100 locost would only go together as quickly! Bravo.

  • That's very good work, I'm still amateur in inventor.

By the way, what is the name of this song played during presentation?

  • Clubbed To Death (Kurayamino Mix) - Rob D

  • No probs. although it would look crazy with the engine and gearbox, and all the pipe work. These cars are amazing tho, little power but having the advantage of a light "shell" gives it crazy acceleration and handling. 0-100 in 3.6secs i think? Do you own one? and also, is Autodesk inventor anything like Autodesk 3ds max? I'm studying at Atari and we use 3ds max, so if there anything alike then i might get in2 it. Cheers!

  • Nice work bro! thats a crazy car man.. the engine is missing o_0 lol

  • Thanks

But it wasn't my intention to design engine or geabox. My intention was to design complete rolling chassis, but finally I decided to add body parts as well.(to show what a complete car looks like). But u can find some engines animation on youtube as well. if u like them.
