I started as an Eastern Flight attendant in 86. I left them in 88 as I was hired by Delta in their first ever class of flight attendants that had union backgrounds. While Delta was a step up in both pay and reliability, I had an absolute blast flying with Eastern. Right up until Lorenzo screwed everybody. It was a fantastic airline and I miss the good times working there. God Bless EAL.

Eddie Rickenbacker's airline lives on in our hearts... it would certainly be a great name for someone to get the rights to and restart... but by Americans for Americans.. maybe service would be an idea again? an old idea..

My dad, Tex Owens flew the inaugural l-1011 flight for EAL. He was with them to the end.

I love it! Was a flight attendant for 15 years with EAL. Best job, best company I ever worked for. Well, I'm getting old and just remembering the non-give-back years. Bless you dude.

My first flight on EAL was August of 1979 PHL>ATL>FMY (yes old Page Field)...I still remember the posters at the gate with various typeset of a bunch of cities they flew to in the 70s colors of brown, tan and burnt orange lol!

Flew Eastern JFK/SJU/JFK - booked out as always, this sector was a real money maker to them and PAN AM - I also flew PAN AM on this sector

That Eastern L-1011 sure was a pretty sight in the air.... and such a great riding aircraft too.... but a pain in the a-- to work....

I-well I never hated it-but I was more pro-Delta when I was a kid and was actually happy the day Eastern was broke, cause Delta had won in my mind. Now I miss it! Please come back Eastern! I love you! I hope the employees have led great lives since 1991, and am happy to have flown 4 times on Eastern!

Loved Eastern and being a F/A was the best job ever.

Up unitl the hijacking to Cuba ... it's not a popular career choice these days. I was based out of Miami ... where is everyone?

I was an F/A in the late 70's til 1986 and I miss Eastern ... all the good friends I miss them too! Where did everyone go?

This was the best job ever~well up until I was hijacked to Cuba ... on 401 in the 80's. Not a popular career choice these days! ; )

Beautiful, always liked the TRISTAR L-1011. First flight in my life when I was 12 years old was in a L-1049, for those of you not familiar its the Super Constellation , VARIG flight from RIO to NYC 18 August, 1961 !!! My beloved VARIG also went as Eastern, what a shame !

Anyways I loved the L-1011 too especially in Eastern and Delta colors. My first four flights were on L-1011, first two on Delta, then on Eastern.

Eastern had a huge presence in SJU back in the 70's. A great airline, specially those L-1011 whisperliners they were confy and smooth. Thanks for posting.

Flew on Eastern in 1979, to see my sister who lived in Pensacola, Florida. Flew from Philly to Atlanta Hartsfield, had an excellent lunch aboard, changed planes in Atlanta for the 1 hour hop to Pensacola Municipal.
