I checked the website, too, and when asked about his childhood he said that he was born in 1998 and by the age if 13, a major civil war broke out. I was born in 1997, and I'm 14 years old now. Unless the war happens this year, I'm pretty sure he's a hoax.

The problem with the concept of time is our human brain cannot comprehend what is time. The only way we can remotely understand the concept of time is past, present, and future. Or Point A,B, and C. What John begins to explain is that time is modular and yet not modular. This is also commonly known as parallel universes. Imagine our time is on a VCR tape. In this tape it records everything that will happen and will not happen and multiply that by infinite. So basically time travel is irrelevant.

I see where you are coming from. His mere presence in the 20th century and his interactions with people would change the future even if it was not by his desire. There would be a domino effect for every person he encountered, alterning subtle actions in each person's life that would alter others lives, etc. HOWEVER some who believe that a kind of destiny is set. While John Titor could not go back to the same future setting he left, certain events would have to occur in time for balance of time.

He would go to a 2036 that is like the one he came from so, they will be there waiting for him to come back with the computer. A different John would go back to original John's 2036. However time is defined much differently by each person depending on how they see time in its major state. Time technically doesn't exist, that was the proffessor's input, but the way in how it doesn't exist is interesting not terrible. Physics solves the "grandfather paradox" in which a time traveler who traveled back in time and killed his grandfather before he was born therefore he never had exsisted to travel back in time in the first place by creating alternate realities in which there are infinite. According to scientist time travel is possible but not within your own timeline so if you were able to travel to the past you would cross over to another timeline therefore the man you killed was not your grandfather.

There was a TV show in the mid to late 1990s called Sliders which was syndicated on the Scifi channel in the 2001 to 2004 period. It explains most of the theory, but in the show, the big plot theory was the invention of a device which mainly traveled in the different dimensions more than time, but it fairly accurately explains how travel is chaotic without spectral mapping. The other element is of course the time travel element which was not dealt with as much in the show.
So in essence, Titor most likely represented one of the factions which was sending agents through time on behalf of its regime. While he may not be reporting back to the exact "place" he came from, the more work his people do, the more likely they are to "return" to timelines which represent the interests and results of their side of the political spectrum.
As for compatibility with various alternate realities and timelines, realize that there can be fatal errors in travel calculations.

if he were to go back to his actual world time...what he left for would probably no longer be of any use. he pretty much picks up where he left off and no longer physically exists in his original worldline. the reason he can't travel back to his original worldine may be because you can't go into the future of your own world time...only in the past. just some theories of mine.

I am very familiar with the format of "time travel" discussed in the Titor theories. The format is not as much a "time travel" but a dimension travel. While there are conceptually an infinite number of co-existing "universes", they are not infinitely accessible to each other with the basic dimension jumping time machine of the sort that Titor uses. A large part of this is that there needs to be some level of synchronization of the Earth's orbit and rotation in points traveled.

what Titor says is that the only significant function the machine had was that you could bring back old technology from the past. what you CAN'T do is go back in the past {parallel universe} ADD a program to a computer, go back to YOUR original universe and expect all PCs to have evolved with that program you installed. That's because you can't experience the changes you do in that world unless you stay in that worldline. But you can move technology from a place to the other.

A 1975 computer was not available in 2036. It was available in 1975. When you go back in time you go into another dimension, but if you return to the year you came from, you go back to your own dimension.

Not enough characters allowed to get my whole point across. After reading and listening to the 640 radio show it seemed that his timeline world had been through nuclear winter. WWIII had destroyed much of the world. There were only a few places in the AFE (American Federal Empire) that had healthy soil to grow food, farm...whatever. Titor said he was dealing here with a variation of over 2%, that would easily explain many of the differences even he noted. As an existence line continues the variations exponentially increase, so by now we are over 3 to 5% divergence from his line. Remember, this line has been diverging since Titor appeared in this timeline in the 70's. He returned to the 70's to eventually go back to a low divergence of HIS timeline.
That MILLIONS of nearby existences would not see an appreciable variation. You can go back to the change point and "redo" the existence line of a minimal impact, say you being there for a short window, then travel forward in the close existence line to get back to your familiar existence. A variation of less than 1% would yield noticeable differences, from major events like who is president, to a change in the start date of a war, or even the war itself not starting...
I'm not saying two mirrors makes a time machine, just using them to explain the universe model. You can limit the reality shift by staying as close to your originating existence as possible, but you cannot stay in your existence, for once you move back into time, you will shift. The gravity lock system and timing devices help limit the existence shift enough that when you "return" the you that comes back is close enough to justify the trip. But it is still not quite who left, but close enough..

Think of it this way: you are in a room with two mirrors facing each other, and you stand between them, you see MANY nearby reflections, these can be considered the tiny shifts of alternate "yous", if you could see MUCH farther than what diminishing perspective limits you to, you would start to see visible shifts, until finally the image is an unrecognizable reality.

The way I wrapped my mind around this was that an infinite number of dimensions contained an infinite number of John Titors. He personally would have not made it back to the exact dimension he started from, however one of the other infinite number of John Titors would have. Being a military mission, it was mission complete.
The worldine that John would have returned to would be so close to his original worldline that everything would look to him. This works is because the "divergence" when traveling up to 100yrs or so back in time is only 1-2%, meaning things would pretty much look as they do on your worldline with some small differences (different hockey game scores, etc)
Any further back and the divergence increases ie, if you went back 2000 yrs to meet christ he probably wouldn't have existed on that worldline

Taking the everett/wheeler model into account there would be many universes within that tiny divergence waiting for him to come back. So if he managed to get back to a universe waiting for him to return which is highly probable he will have succeeded in his mission.
According to John there are infinite parralell universes, he stated that the everrett/wheeler model is correct. So yes it would be mathematically impossible for him to return back to his universe. But by tracing his path back through these other universe and time he would end up in a universe 99.99% the same as the one he came from.

After hearing the Interview with George Noory and the attorney who's representing John's family. John's mother said that He stood with them for 3 years! From April of 1998 to late March of 2001. As I understand John explained that when you used the machine you need to do it in short hops 20 years or so so the time divergence would not be to great. If you went more then 60 years at a time the place you would end up would be greatly different then where you wanted to go. I first learned of John Titor threw my son from his friend in England that was in the chat room that John posted in. I thought the whole thing was a hoax. But now many of the things John warned about are coming true.

Its not that he couldn't return to the future...Its just that no one can return to the EXACT same future from whence they came. Once you go to the past, you ALTER the future. something like the IBM machines that ran the backing systems had expired the seconds. Meaning the original IBM Machines that where used where only programmed to calculate something like a specific amount of seconds. The problem with the concept of time is our human brain cannot comprehend what is time. The only way we can remotely understand the concept of time is past, present, and future. Or Point A,B, and C. What John begins to explain is that time is modular and yet not modular. This is also commonly known as parallel universes. Imagine our time is on a VCR tape. In this tape it records everything that will happen and will not happen and multiply that by infinite. So basically time travel is irrelevant.

i think what he was saying, you may have misunderstood, when you go to one worldline, where you came from is still moving forward in time as he's in another time moving with it. when he gets back to where he came from....it won't be the world time he actually came from....which would now be a few years later in time. but will be exactly the time he actually left....therefore he would appear older to them.

I see where you are coming from. His mere presence in the 20th century and his interactions with people would change the future even if it was not by his desire. There would be a domino effect for every person he encountered, alterning subtle actions in each person's life that would alter others lives, etc. HOWEVER some who believe that a kind of destiny is set. While John Titor could not go back to the same future setting he left, certain events would have to occur in time for balance of time.

He would go to a 2036 that is like the one he came from so, they will be there waiting for him to come back with the computer. A different John would go back to original John's 2036. As long as he takes the computer to a time line that needs it his mission will be successful. He can't go home but he can trade homes with another John.

However time is defined much differently by each person depending on how they see time in its major state. Physics solves the "grandfather paradox" in which a time traveler who traveled back in time and killed his grandfather before he was born therefore he never had exsisted to travel back in time in the first place by creating alternate realities in which there are infinite. According to scientist time travel is possible but not within your own timeline so if you were able to travel to the past you would cross over to another timeline therefore the man you killed was not your grandfather.

There was a TV show in the mid to late 1990s called Sliders which was syndicated on the Scifi channel in the 2001 to 2004 period. It explains most of the theory, but in the show, the big plot theory was the invention of a device which mainly traveled in the different dimensions more than time, but it fairly accurately explains how travel is chaotic without spectral mapping. The other element is of course the time travel element which was not dealt with as much in the show.

So in essence, Titor most likely represented one of the factions which was sending agents through time on behalf of its regime. While he may not be reporting back to the exact "place" he came from, the more work his people do, the more likely they are to "return" to timelines which represent the interests and results of their side of the political spectrum.
As for compatibility with various alternate realities and timelines, realize that there can be fatal errors in travel calculations.

I am very familiar with the format of "time travel" discussed in the Titor theories. The format is not as much a "time travel" but a dimension travel. While there are conceptually an infinite number of co-existing "universes", they are not infinitely accessible to each other with the basic dimension jumping time machine of the sort that Titor uses. A large part of this is that there needs to be some level of synchronization of the Earth's orbit and rotation in points traveled.

what Titor says is that the only significant function the machine had was that you could bring back old technology from the past. what you CAN'T do is go back in the past {parallel universe} ADD a program to a computer, go back to YOUR original universe and expect all PCs to have evolved with that program you installed. Computers back then where program based if you did not know computer language you could not use one. any of you guys heard of TG? He is a supposed time traveler who posted in 2006 making "predictons" or shall I say.... future tellings? He actually accurately predicted (in the time of the gas price increase) that it would no longer be about gas, but about drinking water. Not enough characters allowed to get my whole point across. After reading and listening to the 640 radio show it seemed that his timeline world had been through nuclear winter. WWIII had destroyed much of the world. There were only a few places in the AFE (American Federal Empire) that had healthy soil to grow food, farm...whatever. America had been divided into 5 sections based on region and military ideas. Each region had its own Governmental structure, etc etc. With all this in mind, why not?

His mission was to retrieve the IBM 5100, correct? He also did mention he can't go back to the exact same time universe or paradox. He then jumped to the year 2000 or so to our time universe and saw that Y2K didnt happen which apparently did in his time universe. Now he also mentioned that he can never get back to the exact time universe from which he left because as soon as he changed 1975 he changed Y2K and so forth. He can however, get back to a similar paradox. Mission Accomplished? Sort of

Titor said he was dealing here with a variation of over 2%, that would easily explain many of the differences even he noted. As an existence line continues the variations exponentially increase, so by now we are over 3 to 5% divergence from his line. Remember, this line has been diverging since Titor appeared in this timeline in the 70's. He returned to the 70's to eventually go back to a low divergence of HIS timeline.

That MILLIONS of nearby existences would not see an appreciable variation. You can go back to the change point and "redo" the existence line of a minimal impact, say you being there for a short window, then travel forward in the close existence line to get back to your familiar existence. A variation of less than 1% would yield noticeable differences, from major events like who is president, to a change in the start date of a war, or even the war itself not starting...

I'm not saying two mirrors makes a time machine, just using them to explain the universe model. You can limit the reality shift by staying as close to your originating existence as possible, but you cannot stay in your existence, for once you move back into time, you will shift. The gravity lock system and timing devices help limit the existence shift enough that when you "return" the you that comes back is close enough to justify the trip. But it is still not quite who left, but close enough..

The Everett/Wheeler model of the universe covers your question. Think of it this way: you are in a room with two mirrors facing each other, and you stand between them, you see MANY nearby reflections, these can be considered the tiny shifts of alternate "yous", if you could see MUCH farther than what diminishing perspective limits you to, you would start to see visible shifts, until finally the image is an unrecognizable reality.

Why would he go into a past dimension if he could never return?
The way I wrapped my mind around this was that an infinite number of dimensions contained an infinite number of John Titors. He personally would have not made it back to the exact dimension he started from, however one of the other infinite number of John Titors would have. Being a military mission, it was mission complete.

The worldine that John would have returned to would be so close to his original worldline that everything would look to him. This works is because the "divergence" when traveling up to 100yrs or so back in time is only 1-2%, meaning things would pretty much look as they do on your worldline with some small differences (different hockey game scores, etc)
Any further back and the divergence increases ie, if you went back 2000 yrs to meet christ he probably wouldn't have existed on that worldline

My question is why did John come forward to give us useless information that has us all speculating the credibility of his story? What purpose did it serve for him to divulge information about his mission if it doesnt help us at all?

Taking the everett/wheeler model into account there would be many universes within that tiny divergence waiting for him to come back. So if he managed to get back to a universe waiting for him to return which is highly probable he will have succeeded in his mission.

According to John there are infinite parralell universes, he stated that the everrett/wheeler model is correct. So yes it would be mathematically impossible for him to return back to his universe. But by tracing his path back through these other universe and time he would end up in a universe 99.99% the same as the one he came from.

After hearing the Interview with George Noory and the attorney who's representing John's family. John's mother said that He stood with them for 3 years! From April of 1998 to late March of 2001. Another thing I wanted too add to my previous post. George Noory from Coast to Coast, read a faxed letter that Art Bell gave him dated from 1998, that John Titor sent in to the radio show! In my opinion, after returning from NY in 1975, he jumped to 1998, then Jumped to 2000 to see his parents. Which would make sense why he would say, that its a tedious process to return to your timeline.

John explained: He jumped to 1975 in Florida, then drove to Upstate NY to get the IBM 5100, he drove back down to Florida still in 1975, then jumped to 2000 & went to his parents house. If John, from 2000 jumps directly to 2036, he would NOT be in his timeline. He said he has to back track to 1975 & leave 20 mins before his first arrival, to go to HIS 2036. He mentioned that's something their perfecting because Its a bit tedious. Hope that clarified your question.

As I understand John explained that when you used the machine you need to do it in short hops 20 years or so so the time divergence would not be to great. If you went more then 60 years at a time the place you would end up would be greatly different then where you wanted to go. I first learned of John Titor threw my son from his friend in England that was in the chat room that John posted in. I thought the whole thing was a hoax. But now many of the things John warned about are coming true.

time travel is to not be taken lightly, its a sacrifice for a cause that has complex procedures and requirments. to completely remove yourself from your own reality with the possibility of never coming back, it had better be a really good reason. check out the literature on these and paralell realities & paradoxes to learn more
