to think how much has changed ... and this was in 1997. not too long ago. I'm proud to say that she has made such a difference and eye opener in the gay community and although i may not be gay and i do come from a very strict background I'm really openminded to it and really accepting of it especially all of my friends. bc in the end they are only people, idc who they have a relationship with as long as they are HAPPY. hopefully more and more ppl can be accepting like this in the future :)

Watching this really made me admire Ellen even more than I already did. I feel bad for Ellen in that situation. I've sat at home round the dining room table and had people making comments like this, and being a lesbian, I just felt so judged and pressurized. I am okay with who I am but it's so overwhelming and horrible to be in that kind of situation, however good it feels to stick up for your identity. The passages from the Bible that ppl use to condemn homosexuality are not condemning gay ppl at all. The passage about the city of Sodom and males fornicating with other males and raping them sometimes doesn't condemn homosexuality. It condemns the crime of rape. No where in the Bible does it say that being gay is wrong. And yes I'm Catholic, but I also am open minded and have analyzed those things. God loves us no matter what and just wants us to be happy and love him back

I cried through these parts to see what Ellen had to go through and what people in the glbt have to go through in society. I have always loved Ellen, her comedy, but also her honesty. I am glad that she didn't keep it secret and that she is still, even today, making people aware that it is ok. It is about acceptance something any form of religion should promote. Imagine being told that someone believes its wrong for you to be exactly who you are and can't help being? Watching this really made me admire Ellen even more than I already did. The passages from the Bible that ppl use to condemn homosexuality are not condemning gay ppl at all. The passage about the city of Sodom and males fornicating with other males and raping them sometimes doesn't condemn homosexuality. It condemns the crime of rape. No where in the Bible does it say that being gay is wrong. And yes I'm Catholic, but I also am open minded and have analyzed those things.
