@JukeboxHeartbreak91 thanks, thats exactly what i did do, but look at this you have brought me back to this video again so i have to say how silly it is a second time.... very silly.
I've listened to Evelyn for years. She is fantastic as is the fellow in this video. Find the dvd of this at your library and watch the whole thing if you have a chance.
There are many ways to be in the world as nature is so diverse. If the majority of people in the world experienced it in the manner that Evelyn does, then the rest of us would be the ones labeled as having a disability.
I was watching a TED Talks conference given by Glennie only yesterday, just found Fred Frith today, and now suddenly this! I almost can't believe it! Small world, eh?
Glennie has been profoundly deaf since age 12. This does not inhibit her ability to perform at the international level. She regularly plays barefoot for both live performances and studio recordings, better to "feel" the music.
How come in the performance she gives at TED talks she describes learning to play the drums "listen" to music by distinguishing notes based on feeling of the sound through her whole body and that she wasn't going to be allowed to study music at the royal academy of music because she was deaf? She talks about having to fight them on the issue of discrimination because of her disability.

Funny thing is that she's deaf. She literally 'feels' the music. Love it.
