It doesn't go anywhere, just constant LOUD roar that lasts from a few minutes to at least 30 minutes or more. Fade-in and out phases usually are quite abrupt (2-5 sec.). You posted this 2 years ago. I woke up at 1am and went outside for fresh air (I am in California. Beautiful clear night) and this steady noise lasted for at least 30 minutes non stop. I went in the house at 130am because it was irritating. I saw no planes anywhere. Very odd.

Hi, I've been trying to find relationships with this sound, and one similiar to the one HAARP would make. Heard it again a night or two ago here in LA. It almost sounds like a military jet at full power sitting in place ( it has a bit of a turbine whine to it) but with a breathing sound to it, almost like the Dr. Who TARDIS sound, but the low frequency component is amazing. You can FEEL it. And it sounds like its coming from all over the sky. Someone mentioned steam release from a power plant and that could be it but from WHERE?

Get Night Vison or 2nd or 3rd Generation Infra Red Camera or Thermal Camera, They can see at night, its expensive (or borrow one for a month) but woth it if you can get the thing recorded!!!!

I don't think this video is anything like the others we have heard lately. This video remind me of an aircraft flying over from very high above on a clear night in which the engine noise can make it to those on the ground.

Hi, I've been trying to find relationships with this sound, and one similiar to the one HAARP would make. Such a weapon would have the capacity to create an "atmoshpheric roar"....like a loud rock concert playing with 1 billion watts of power....in the sky lol! thanks man! there's ALOT of things about this particular sound that have way too many disturbing similarities, unfortunately. Even now, with the recent quake and tsunami in Japan, a sound like this could have been used to trigger it.

yeah i live in newcastle australia and i started hearing this at the start of 2011 never herd it before then its very loud stops and starts againi see no aircraft in the sky very wired!

I heard it here in the bay area. I live by an air force base. I kno wut jets air plains and trains sound like. It's none of that. I feel it. Sounds like it's hovering. Jets don't hover in cities.yup all over the sky. Deep sharp sound. Neither here nor there. It comes n goes but doesn't leave like a jet would. Then the sound is gone...then back. Can't see no lights to fallow. But it's kind cloudy. Like it's hiding. Or watching. 1-2am

Heard it again a night or two ago here in LA. It almost sounds like a military jet at full power sitting in place ( it has a bit of a turbine whine to it) but with a breathing sound to it, almost like the Dr. Who TARDIS sound, but the low frequency component is amazing. You can FEEL it. And it sounds like its coming from all over the sky. Someone mentioned steam release from a power plant and that could be it but from WHERE?

i live in yorkshire in the uk and we heard the exact thing you describe here at about 2 am last oct, shit the life out of me, there is still no explanation of it, it made the news and the papers, some said it was a russian plane but i dont know about that,.

i live in new jersey ... and i heard this going on outside october 22 1am.... it came in bursts of a strong wind// roar in the sky. it was on and off. for about a half hour...i swear it was so loud and seemed so close as if an invisible aircraft was floating around bullshitting...pretty freaky shit.

Get Night Vison or 2nd or 3rd Generation Infra Red Camera or Thermal Camera, They can see at night, its expensive (or borrow one for a month) but woth it if you can get the thing recorded!!!!

I am SO glad to see that others, around the country, are experiencing similar phenomenon that my familly experienced just 2 nights ago. Very similar sound, except what we heard kept stopping and starting, rather than a constant sound. No winding down and back up - just there, gone, there again, gone again. Lasted about 15-20 minutes. Thanks for posting!

Just heard a very similar sound in Los Angeles last night or the night before. Didn't last very long, maybe a minute or two but the whole sky sounded like this. Also not the first time I've heard it -- I remember this sound from when I was a kid.

by any chance do you live in an area that has hills with sand on them?
or a dry desert like location?
if this is the case, believe it or not the sound is coming from rolling sand slides a few miles away
the sound grows louder and echos every time you go further away
