  • Cornell Dupree with YAMAHA Pacifica...great tone !!

  • Way Back Home is a composition by Wilton Felder of the Jazz Crusaders. Just in case.

  • still cookin' altough Tee ain't there..kudos

  • Nice ...Reading,Pa. in the Groove..Great Post..!!

  • If you want to see how the sax should be played on this song, you-tube "Gadd Gang Way Back Home". Ronnie Cuber is awesome on the sax!

  • One of those jams you don't ever want to ever.

  • wow this music doesn't let you get bored, does it..

  • Funky Stuff RiP Cornell...

  • Uh... that is most definitely NOT 'Mike Clark' (famous drummer from the Headhunters). Unless there is a drummer 'Mike Clarke' who plays these kinds of gigs...? --different spelling.

  • @tcmdrumz

Quite right - it isn't Mike Clark from Headhunters (I actually interviewed him around '98 at Montreux so I am certain... :-) ... The information I have is that the name of the drummer here on this clip is Mike Clarke ... I have been unable to discover much about him at all - perhaps someone could help out here

  • Can someone please stop the sax play and let cornell play!?

  • @BeatBay Yeah, I loved Stuff because of the guitar interplay. I miss Eric Gale.

And this sax player kinda sucks

  • mike is great but gadd is god !!

  • Cornell is smooth as silk man, it don't get any better...

  • Amazing. Maybe the only piece I don't miss Tee (that much) while listening to. Anyone knows anything about Jimmy Smith? Sadly, with such a name google isn't of any real help. -- And many thanks @bobfunk11 for posting.

  • Few guitar players are as identifiable within one bar as Cornell Dupree...those slides, those double stops. His feel is magical..truly inspiration since the mid 1960s.

  • Big Gordon Edwards and Cornell Dupree, two original members of STUFF, and the rest of the band are awesome!

  • Gordon Edwards on bass....

  • The master of "underplay" ,

you can listen to him a zillion times and every time it just more tasty that the last.

  • I love how when Cornell takes a solo he speaks each note! Watch his mouth!

  • nice take on a Jr. Walker song!

  • Please!! listen to the 1988 version! with ron cuber etc.

  • Groove-ality!

    Cornel always amazing.

    Plays with a Southern drawl.

One of my all time faves.

  • Doesn't Cornell always play SO SWEET?! Anyone know what kind of guitar he is playing here?

  • @markmdavis

he's playing a single cutaway yamaha pacifica guitar. similar to fender telecasters.

  • it's a Yamaha signature model; unfortunately not a production model.

  • Yeah Mike, feels good!!!

    Makes my face smile.

Happy holidays and keep on groovin'my man.

  • Hey Mike, GREAT stuff man, making West Warwick RI proud! If you are ever back home gotta have you in for a clinic/workshop...and meet the kiddies in West Warwick HS "Wizard Band Land." - Metro

  • Not to mention that the Al Foster I know was a session drummer on Blue Note; back in the '60's. Ha !

  • How funny, in an ironic way, the Mike Clark I know is/was a drummer with Herbie Hancock's 'HeadHunters' and the Jimmie Smith I know of was Erroll Garner's drummer !?!

Anyone know of any CDs that these two are on so I could give a listen ?

  • Well this drummer is Michael Clarke with an "e" (spelled the same as the late Byrds/SpyroGyro drummer) and I believe he has played with both KM Myrland, Alex and some of his best work was with the (original) Doorbells. He is very groovy. Alive and well in LA (as far as I know...
