  • The drummer is my brother's friend's ex-room mate!

  • Saw them at the Subterania in Ladbroke Grove, London, in about April 1990, before this was released. They brought a huge travelling support with them from the North and took the place apart! Gave the crowd of poseurs in there a shake.

  • Never mind saw them at the duchess...she IS the DUCHESS. Nice use of headband. wish I could go back in time. properly.

  • I miss Rikki my Godfather i haven't seen him in years... :(

  • this is my cousin n i think its great

  • great days

  • wonder how many of the oiks in this video have been on Jeremy kyle.

  • Gotta say this is sorta brilliant, good lyrics and everything. I'm not familiar with Madchester and all that, but will look into a bit after that one.

  • Such an under-rated band. I saw them at the Norwich Waterfront back in 1992 (I think), got backstage and the band signed my T-shirt! Happy days!

  • GO JOHNATHAN on the drums!!!

  • Northern Soul from Paris Angels ...

  • You are a star!

  • Well done rikki

  • I think that this song alone is better than anything else to come out of the "madchester" era.

  • @kqpm392 oh come on! Its very good, but its only a Joy Division rip off (like a lot of Manc bands at the time), you do the Manc scene a bit of a disservice..........

  • a super classic of the 90's

  • Still one of my fav tunes to this day !!

  • heard this once or a few times in the 90s and then a scot bloke at work just played it ... raced to see what it was, and damn, replaying it on end

  • @zombiekicker or Lightning Seeds. I fucking hate that twat.

  • @zombiekicker or The Real People

  • @zombiekicker ,bit tough son. At least you aint a scouser.

  • Paris Angles, Flowered Up and Northside were all just a bit too much back then they just seemed to be forced on us during the baggy era when the people they were copying like the Mondays and Inspirals were just too good.

  • @zombiekicker no worries zombie,i smashed your sister's back doors in whilst your old girl was fingering herself watching me mush.

  • My fave song from that "baggy" era. This should've been massive, still sounds amazing. Btw i lost my virginity to a girl claiming to be in the background of this vid, i've never spotted her but we only got talking because of this song, good memories.

  • R.I.P. Fages and Bob D. Guide Bridge Boys we are here.....

  • To those below - tell yer uncle that his basslines were ace and he played in a really cool band. Strangetown 22 if that is yer ma tell her she's gorgeous and she still has fans all over the world. I still play that 12" extended version regularly. What happened to the other singer though?

  • Saw these at Duchess in Leeds around 1990. Great gig except the bit when the singer threw his mouth keyboard thingy into the crowd & it hit me between my fucking eyes. I was tripping like fuck at the time the bastard. I kept it for years in case they went massive..They didn't. Top band though & thanks for posting.

  • That's my ma on tambourine and BV's. She looks well slim there.Must have been those E's she was always going on about. Go Ma!!

  • Your maa was a bit of a raver!!!...Go on Coral!!!..lol

  • @strangetown22 you have a really cool ma then! Paris Angels is one of my favorite bands!!!

  • @strangetown22

Bless yer ! Saw them once at The International, a blur of dope n Stella - still the best Madchester Anthem.

  • Comment removed

  • @strangetown22

we still play this loads. It was kinda a celebratory anthem for getting back from the rigs without getting our balls blown off. Thanks to your Mum x.

  • aaaahhhhhh man..i forgot about this tune. A lot of those old tunes sound a bit shit now but this dont. Rave on!!

  • This is one of the best tunes from the whole Madchester era & this lot really should have been much bigger.

Saw them at the Duchess & The Warehouse in Leeds back in 1990, two great gigs.

  • @TrimmTrab1970 nice name,..and i agree,..top tune and group,.scott careys group ,who was kicked out of the inspiral carpets b4 P.A.

  • I remember I heard a song by Paris Angels on the radio once. I believe it was produced by Dave Ball. It was much more house-y. Anyone know of it? DJ Luc Janssens played it on his show at that time on Studio Brussels.

Love t Jane and kids and the GBF!!!

Remember taping the Angels and making compilations for em before they got signed!! Wonder how you all are ????

  • Oh my god - the last time I heard this I had long hair - now I have almost no hair!!! This brings back memories of seeing them live at Leicester around 1990 - they were fab and deserved more recognition...

  • Thanks for posting online this track could equally get lost in time, the remix is awesome. Hello to everyone from the Birch Cellar Bar - good days.

  • I live in the area where acid was first produced out of sheer earth as a by-product of wheat. Who would then have thought that it withholded such beauty? Thanks Madchester!!! Forever!!!

  • God i remember this, have two good friends in this band, Waggs on guitar and Big Simon on the drums. Those where the Days Good times. Thanks for posting.....

  • I've been playin this in sydney for the last 5 years on and of and it's got a bit of a cult following. as it should do. sounds great on a big system. I play the start of the 7" and then mix into the 12 version, ooooooooooohhhhhh!!!!!

  • But it's not on i tunes! What a disaster. My last copy of this disappeared with a '92 compilation tape...

  • It's on bez's Madchester Anthem's hope that help's : -) .

  • I loved paris angels, ah the old days

I saw them live a couple of times and they were amazing...

music is stale nowadays compared to then

  • i know time 4 it to return

  • I remember a song called ''oh yes'' which was beatiful, it's a shame that England doesn't launch any decent band for many years GREETINGS FROM PERU

  • This is probabaly the only song i remember by them, but god what a classic.

  • iv got a remix of this sum where on cd,must dig it out - classic tune!

  • Had this oan 7", gave it tae an ex and never saw it again... which ah still regret tae this day, as it's rare as rockin horse jobbies! Loved up, indeed!

  • I've got it, signed and sealed as it came enthused with perfume. No idea where but its around somewhere. Thanks for posting the tune

  • Mint tune like.

The lass looks like a drugged up cast member from Rita, Sue and Bob Too.

  • "Oasis have a lot to answer for"

Oh, come on, Oasis made a great album.

Shame they repeated it eight times afterwards, though.

  • Comment removed

  • Oasis could NEVER be The Beatles, not even on a good day

  • HILARIOUS..LMFAO

  • Oh I remember seeing them in Glasgow early 1990 just before the summer. We saw them at the QMU university when we had to get the students to sign us in and being a gang of young football hooligans they were'nt keen ! Also saw the at King Tuts too.I remember the girl singing with the black hair singing and playing tambourine, she was lovely.1990 was great was'nt it ? We were all fighting at the football every Saturday afternoon and partying with the same lads at night time.

  • does a better example of the ecstacy fuled dance crossover exist?

  • where these on factory records?

  • Sheer Joy Records I believe, later signed to Virgin who dropped before a second Album could be released. The band then sadly called it a day :-(

  • fucking hell, i forgot how much i love this!!! thanks x

  • 17 years since I first heard this, loved it then and still fuckin love it now. Ageless! Happy Daze people, if you don't own it, buy it, will bring the brilliance of the early nineties to life! Man I miss it.

  • This is what happens when corporate BS DOESNT get involved with the music... you get a 7 piece band that is amazing

  • I wish it could be somewhat like this today. where did it go ?

  • encapsulates all that was GOOD about Madchester, cos there was plenty of dross! Gr8...

  • One of the best Indie Band of 90's!

  • You so wanted the female singer to be better looking!!

  • know where ur coming from, but jane was a realy sound girl. she seemed so humble and never let the hype infect her personality. Qualty girl, and i would say possesed what all of us blokes realy need in a girl ?

  • Fucking ace! choon this was when i was 15 - 16 drinkin in fields Madchester quality, was it wags that ended up in Black Grape? Great fuckin tune reminds me of one dove, interstela and others xxx

  • fantasic song wagstaff is the finest bass player in the world acorrding to your karl !!!!!

  • I'm so glad that this is on You Tube. Because this is the defining Indie/Dance crossover song. Forget everything else. The Angels were doing it in 1990. Just kneel and weep you dance maniacs. Because it all flows out of this song.

  • couldnt agree more always described this tune myself as indie/dance at its best.
