  • It's good that TWDY have opted for a sort of ambient/drone/post rock combination. The post rock genre is starting to get stale as of late in my opinion. This is a breath of fresh air and also probably my favourite off tunnel blanket.

  • this song is eargasm!

  • we are post-rock, you are great.

  • i can't thank you enough for this.

  • you destroyed me

  • great video this album is a grower not all the songs are good though

  • A movie with all This Will Destroy You music would be a good movie.

  • @YouSuck1543 I AM Legend 2 ??? 8D

  • @YouSuck1543 Go on Kickstarter and search for 'The Deep Field.' Original score by TWDY The dream has become a reality!

  • @YouSuck1543 The Mighty Rio Grande plays throughout most of Moneyball.

  • aaaaahhh

  • This stuff is incredible! I will say that no matter how "stereotypical post-rock" they were with Young Mountain and (somewhat) on their Self-Titled, there has always been something incredible with what they've written that takesw it beyond the stereotype. Now this new stuff off Tunnel Blanket, it's other-worldly. Glad to be seeing them making the music they've always wanted to achieve and taking things to the next level!

  • From threads and The World is our to this? Not saying its bad but why did they change there is nothing to the song except the symbol crashing and then its drops off I feel like this should be there first album the ones before this are so much better its almost deppressing. Someone please explain the mindset of this band I listened to the first to CDs almost every day I can't even listen to one whole song off of this.

  • @mayorsoffice i agree. i say their self-titled and young mountain were their best.

  • @mayorsoffice they said this ambient stuff is the type of music they really always wanted to make

  • @mayorsoffice actually, they never liked being likened to post - rock. They've always wanted to make ambient / doom metal style music. This is why the change.

  • to me, this is doom metal, and they really started to "destroy"

  • I'm a big fan of post-rock, including bands such as Sigur Ros, GYBE, EitS, American Dollar, etc. along with some of this band's other songs, but I think if we're honest with ourselves we must admit that this isn't the best the genre has to offer. It's just two guitarists and a bassist making noise (artistic noise or otherwise) to a driving drum beat, with no melody whatsoever, and there really isn't even much progression in the song. I just don't get why this is the highest-rated on this channel

  • @rymcmanus I mean, if we're waiting for four, five, six minutes, the least that should happen is some kind of melody and/or harmony. but it's essentially a giant crescendo that leads to nothing, which is imo boring and not too original. Threads is a much better song by them.

  • @rymcmanus You must prefer post-rock over ambience, in that case. Their old stuff is melodic and "leads to something". I think this song leads to something huge, but I guess you don't. I also saw it live (two months after GY!BE) and they held their own against the post-rock gods. Their old stuff is post rock, their new stuff is, as they refer to it, doom-gaze. Shoe gaze (doesn't go very far) combined with doom (never goes anywhere), so you're out of luck. But we're not.

  • @Colenelly Ah, thanks for clarifying. I wasn't aware they had moved in that direction... Doom-gaze, eh? Yeah, I think I'll pass.

  • @rymcmanus Yeah, for their new CD they didn't want to just make another album of quiet guitar getting louder until the explosion, so they moved more towards pure ambience with rare loud parts.

  • the drummer has a very expensive CC kit and like 600 dollar cymbals. thats 600 dollars a piece lol his kit sounds like heaven though.

  • Can't wait for their Italy concert at 5th of July

  • INMENSE

  • LOVE you!

  • Reminds me of jakob...but not as good.

  • fucking incredible.fact.

  • TWDY is my favorite band, they are best at LIVE!!!

    More post-rock inspiration, search for:

The Inituition - Open Your Frozen Heart And Start Living Again

  • Epic music. Epic Band.

  • Obviously these guys have been listening to Sigur Ros. Almost exactly the same slow-drum beat as heard on the untitled album #7.

  • @Kifferhazel they sound NOTHING like Sigur Ros, more Godspeed if anything, but if you've listened to their previous albums you'll notice through the different progressions, that they've carved their own sound! Fantastic band and INCREDIBLE live!

  • @trashworm I was not insinuating that they sound like Sigur Ros, only that that drum beat is almost exactly like that song from the Untitled album. They do sound good but I think they might have a ways to go to really carve themselves out.

  • this band has uprooted some strange emotions. listening to them is such a strange and wonderful experience. tunnel blanket will be absolutely gorgeous.

  • I need this song

  • I want to live inside of this song.

  • I love this song, I want it.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOW

  • Excellent footage. Good god I can't wait to hear the studio version of this.

  • I like that it's so quiet in the beginning, that you can hear something being dropped and in the end everything just explodes.

  • jesus, this and communal blood are so good but sad sounding.

  • So fucking damn good. I love it. It's wonderful.

    Keep the amazing job guys.

  • Amazing amazing amazing. Saw them in June it was well...amazing. Have been waiting all year for Tunnel Blanket.

  • You guys really know how to record live music. One of the best visual and auditory live videos I've seen that's not commercially distributed. Thanks for the upload.

  • @rootvalue dude, thanks for that generous comment, honestly, we are deeply greatful

  • thanks for all the GREAT comments guys! :)

  • @wearepostrock

Well, thank you for all the great videos!

  • this video doesnt even come close to the experience of seeing them live

  • such incredible guitar tone!!!

  • In a interview, TWDY said one of their biggest influences was Sigur Rós, you can clearly hear the Sigur Rós sound in this awesome song

  • Those cymbals are fucking DROOL-WORTHY. Tunnel Blanket will rule.

  • @NinjaPowerfist

couldnt have said it any better. this is one band that is really good live. despite problems with their pedals in-between songs, they pull it off by creating sounds that are real eriee like while switching modes or somthin idk. idk how they do it but hey they are pretty good at what they do.

  • @punkbitch61 hell yes

  • by the way, these are one of the few bands out there that are a million times better live than the recordings, you really feel their music, stop watching videos and go see em!

  • I don't think it's that they are underestimated. people who aren't musicians have the same problems as musicians, they are afraid to push their musical limits. rather than search for what their ears really want to hear, they would rather just listen to whatever is fed to them on the radio. so it's not that they don't like bands like this, they'll just never get to hear them. but it's bands like this and their listeners that are keeping real music alive

  • @NinjaPowerfist

this is so. SO SO SO true

  • @NinjaPowerfist speaking as a musician, i couldn't agree more!

  • i feel they are one of the most underestimated and down bands of this age. but forgot all those people, this is good ass music right here. so calming and captivating.

  • And I thought TWDY couldn't be any better; I was wrong.

Great video, great setup (lighting) & great music. Who can ask for more?

    Long live post-rock!

  • deep shit, the bassist kicks ass

  • Seeing this live was something else. Can't wait for Tunnel Blanket.

  • @nrcdrums Agreed fully. Their entire live performance rocked my dome.

  • holy. shit. these guys multiplied their already-great-music a billion fold with this new album.

  • This is some of the best live filming ive seen. it fits perfectly with the twdy's sound. awesome job! amazing sound quality too! Cant wait for their new album.
