Zack could never perform on such a level as them bc he was a normal mortal human. He was the strongest member of SOLDIER outside of these 3, though.

My point is that these 3 were friends and I think that Genesis did show a great deal of skill at times but Sephiroth, at his very core, is superior in all aspects to either Angeal or Genesis when it comes to this sort of combat.

Well, as far as keeping up with Sephiroth goes, from my position, Cloud has probably done the best job of being on par or close to it. Zack was never really in the same league whenever Seph was fighting him seriously and in this little spar session, Seph was never really trying to harm either of the guys. The only time he got somewhat serious, he was just tearing the virtual Junon cannon to shreads and sort of giving Genesis a preview of what he possessed when he felt the notion..

@selacseel Exactly. The only one that has ever been able to continually fight Sephiroth on equal terms, and best him is Cloud. Even then, it was a difficult fight. The Developers have said that aside from being a physical God - Sephiroth's intelligence and willpower are superhuman, meaning he can quite literally will himself back from death in the Lifestream, even control a portion of it.

Genesis and Angeal were very skilled, but neither was on the same level.

Sephiroth is (By word of the makers) the strongest villain in the series. He is extremely powerful and intelligent.

Although Angeal and Genesis are strong, were they to fight him at his fullest, neither of them could defeat him.

The only one who can really fight Sephiroth on equal terms and surpass him is Cloud.

@NicholasGeschke and even then, you have to say, cloud was quite lucky on beating sephiroth in 7 and Advent Children

in 7 it was a rigged fight lol, and in Advent Children cloud's omnislash 5/6 was the only reason he was able to beat sephiroth, sephiroth is out of cloud's league...ye cloud can stay on par with him for a while but eventually tires out and becomes completely open
