  • what year was this released and whats their most recent album????

  • @killer66663 i think this was released in 1999 on the 'self volume 1' album. their last release was 'triple crown' in 2003.

  • Its so Beautiful..... True Hip Hop Forever!!!!

  • Legg inn respons på denne videoen

  • So fucking amazing. Real hip-hop. PLEASE COME BACKB MOUNTAIN BROTHERS.

  • How the effff do you not like this song?

  • smooth... just so smooth

  • i just got the triple crown album in the post after ordering it off amazon!!! :)

  • all I see in hip hop these days are weeds...I want to go back to the day of the roots.

  • It is sad that software and technology are so much less expensive now, than they were back when the Mountain Bros. dropped this LP. Somehow, these guys managed to produce beats with far more soul. These days, beats have sparse instrumentation, often relying on an 808 or 303 kick, a hi-hat and a chant. What happened to groups like this or The Roots?

  • Under Rated!

Real Conscience Rap from the mid 90's

  • Why in the fuck is it that the Mountain Brothers' Sprite commercial you can't find anywhere? I thnk it was only a audio, but it was saucy. I need it.

  • the guy in glasses sounds black lol

  • @V1etnamese408 stop it. They sound like themselves. How do you sond black? Ok. Maybe. Lol.

  • wow this song is FUCKING AWESOME

  • dowload there music for free any where??

  • will always b wanna of my fav songs of all time

  • omg im friends with paralel on facebook!! lols

on a side note, mountain brothers > far east movement!!

  • dude this is true hip-hop

  • Remember peeping this many moons ago...man, *smh* they soooo shoulda got more pub..used to rock this in the whip in 2000 all day..

  • "I wanna paperchase" was sampled from The Roots' "Proceed".

  • @tasteofsupreme

    im on a paperchase..

  • "plus you seem like a pomegranate" = full of seeds??

  • yo styles tearz this shit up on that last shit

  • @demonikfunk CAN YOU UPLOAD THIS SONG AND SEND ME THE LINK TO DOWNLOAD IT

  • love this soing l all ways play it when l am making money

  • Well I just discovered Mountain brothers today. I really wish i would have listen to this when I was younger. These guys are amazing. It is really a shame they disbanded. But their music will never die.

  • every "underground" hip hop youtube video has the same comment as the one on this video with the most thumbs up.first they point out the state of the game then they say how underrated the artist is then they name a few radio rappers they dislike & compare them to them.then if u say something they dont like they say u dont know hip hop then say that u must listen to so & so (somebody they consider whack)

  • @anarkie whats your point? they(we) are right. from 84 to 94-95, 80% of hip hop was destined to be future classics, only we didn't really know it at the time. we had no clue that 10, 15, 20 years later 80% of hip hop would have anti boom bap digital synth jiggy club dance techno beatz with empty, materialistic rhymez. when ice-t & kool g rap rhymed about assets & bling, there was always a message as well. youtube search " 1970s pro wrestling " & read the comments. lamentin the bygone golden era.

  • @anarkie Just an observation

  • sick under rated rappers...

kanye n them mainstreams are way over rated...

sucks...this is real hip hop rite here

    ONE LOVE: MUSIC!

    -Poetic tonE

  • @hmoobvboi i like to pretend in my mind that kanye never tried to rap and instead stuck to what he's good at. producing.

  • how does this have less than 1M views? so sad how the real emcees/artists/deejays/turntablists get no airplay or widespread love.

  • Seriously, I miss the good ol' days...

  • Very dope, I gotta check their albums out.

  • JIN WHO?!

  • we need more asian leaders

  • @bakeher check out Son of Ran then.

  • 2 of these guys are doctors now..!

  • Chops is the only one still in the industry...Styles Infinite is a doctor and Peril L is a medical researcher

  • holy shit , this brings me back to the 90s

  • mad respect to these talented asian brothas. It's so refreshing to hear this instead of the bullshit mainstream radio plays.

  • these cats are asian wow

  • Hip Hop ain't dead... True art is like a diamond found in coal...

  • SO GOD DAMN DOPE

  • I'm not usually a big fan of hip-hop, but these guys are blowing me away.

  • lame ass

  • Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

  • thats a very good question but to my knowledge no one has found the answer to that.

  • @eyesmayshine ur a fucking lame ass

  • @JimiBrady yeah don't pay attention to the comercial stuff any more there's lots of hip hop like this they just don't play it on radio or tv that much if at all anymore. Sucks though people have a bad inturpritation of what hip hop is because of that.

  • still bumpin this on my way to work...

  • Use to have this in heavy rotation...Philly-no doubt...

  • lol my bad i ment to give you a thumbs up..

  • im forever in love with this song, true and pure hip hop...

  • Incredible group. DOPE. 1.

  • I loved this shit since I first heard it around '96-'97. This shit is crazy, every line relevant and on point. The beat is ill, too...

  • This is one of my all time fav tracks

  • man this is the shit one of the best hip hop songs ever for real i dont care what i have to do to keep this track alive in the future ima do it ima put there cd in a vault so it never gets scratched and pull it out forty yrs later for my grand kids to show em real good music

  • One of my all time favorite tracks. I was never a huge Mountain Brothers fan, but there's a lot of great stuff on that debut. I never quite understood why they didn't take off--their first album sold well in underground circles, they had that Sprite commercial etc...

  • There honestly is nothing wrong with this song...

  • I always loved this joint... a hiphop classic

  • Very true. 2009 has actually been exceptionally surprising. Alot of bangers have dropped and still many to look forward too.

  • yo 2009 has been excellent!....elzhi droppin that illmatic tribute later this year (hopefully) would be the icing on the cake

  • realness... peace from bucharest

  • true hip hop beat, I miss this... asian pride

  • i seriously put this in my top 3 hip hop songs of all time. everything about it..when it came out hip hop was in such an amazing stage

    funny story

we were upstate and this one real grimy street nigga (good friend of ours, but still outside th click) went down to the city for a few days, then tried to freestyle with these lyrics. he didnt know we got a stretch armstrong tape mailed up to us that week, we already knew the song and called him out for his fake ass freestyle

    xP

    <3 Paperchase forever

  • im glad to hear they became doctors, i got the cd and some of their 12' singles. but the question is do they still like the type of hiphop that they made?

  • Y Society sampled the vocals on this song. they used it for "Never Off"

"it's a fine line trying to get some money plus represent for me."

  • @CWroyal88

Y Society is dope as fuck haha

  • @CWroyal88 true that. i was JUST listening to that song. thats what made me look for this one.

  • Honestly...what happened to good hip-hop?! It's truly sad. I would pay good dough to see guys like this beat the shit out of Kanye, T-Pain and Lil' Wayne.

Better yet, a battle series to expose the fuckin' fakes. Make it happen...

  • @AGCYIN I believe they broke up...but I heard Chops is still at it...being a producer for lil wayne and others artists which is stupid as fuck...because they're hella fuckin dope! Hip pop would be at a better state with these guys...

  • @AGCYIN I believe they broke up...but I heard Chops is still at it...being a producer for lil wayne and others artists which is stupid as fuck...because they're hella fuckin dope! Hip pop would be at a better state with these guys...

  • @AGCYIN dont hate on kanye. foo.

  • @landonguyen

He is a gay fish and he can't rap.

  • @AGCYIN why kanye?

  • @AGCYIN

Thing is these guys now produce a number of beats you hear today for Kanye, and a lot of other artists

  • Comment removed

  • I lost this album years ago, and findin it nowadays is fuckin impossible, anyone know how?

  • LOL! i fucking found this burned copy of this album in my car today. u can probably download it. try searching for it

  • dope hip hop

  • I love this! I remember them from back in the day! Yo, I was so expecting them to blow up. They got that oldschool Pharcyde, Lost Boys vibe going on !!

  • song almost moved me to tears....

  • i like dis song

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeetttttttttttttt!

  • I walk upon the streets without a penny...

tryin to keep a steady pace...."Im on a paperchase"

    killing lyrics and real stories

  • Smoove.

  • dis is hip hop/ why they break up/ i just found them / they need to get 2gether/ i support

  • they broke up for a very good reason. one of them became a doctor, another one became a medical researcher. chops is the only one still actively making music. he's recently worked with chamillionaire, bun b, and many other well known rappers.

  • Well its good they depend on the artform....but they were nice tho.

  • real hip hop is the best medicine eh?

  • word, mad props to MBs. It's mad funny though, who would've expected rappers to become doctors?

  • i reckon thats better than them being drug dealers.

  • funny, coz lots of doctors are actually drug dealers.

  • thats actually a very good point. they are pushing, inadaquatly tested drugs like prozac and valium for drug companies glaxo ect and getting their cut.

  • They broke because sadly, despite the fact that they were clearly talented, they still had problems with getting promoted by record companies because they were Asian-American--which was ridiculous as hell, but that was what they said in an interview. Damn shame, because this song and "Galaxies" would have gotten mad play on radio stations back in the late '90's here in Detroit.

  • 1996, this takes me back maine!

Real Hip Hop is dead, this was the realness. Miss those days

  • awesome...

  • such a true song

  • this beat is real

  • Lovely. Just lovely.

  • I like this reminds me a bit of A Tribe Called Quest.

  • nice

  • dude chops needs to go back to this ISH!

  • What the name of the sample chopped to make this track?

Really nice track from Mountain Brothers.. :)

  • If I'm not mistaken, there is no such word in CHOPS' vocabulary.

  • Well, there's a Roots sample in the chorus. But as far as the composition aspect Chops doesn't do sampled loops.

I don't mind what he's doing now...i just wish he didn't do it to the exception of stuff like this. Also, he's nasty on the mic. He needs to rap again.

  • i found this track a few years ago...these dudes are straight ill...they need to come back and show these commercial rap niggas how rhyme, long live the hip-hop underground, much props to the Mountain Brothers

  • Hell yeah brother.

  • these cats shoulda been bigger, but periodicals just wanted to focus on their ethnicities and not their dope-ass rhyme ability and phat lo-tek beats

  • "money is not the root of all evil, it's the lack of it"

    Supernatural

  • money is the roots of all evil!

    lol

  • This album is a 5 mic classic, "Self vol.1" I have it on 2LP original, people throw 50's at me for it. If you ever see this album BUY IT!!! certified underground classic!

  • Were can I get ahold of their albums? I neeeeeeeed them!

  • tight ass beat...

  • Nossa! Representa demais! Muita paz a todos os manos do BRASIL e DE TODO MUNDO! PEACE FOR ALL THE WORLD! RAP MUSIC!!!

  • "I knew a man who played the lotto/many times he tried/'til he hit the jackpot/had a heart attack and died/ if that Ain't irony I don't know what it is/do you think he wants the 2 mil or another chance to live?" -Jin

  • why must everything revolove around the penny!

  • gosh I love these dudes.

  • playin it all the time... mellow

  • really, really, really brilliant song! it's a pity it's so hard to find this album

  • no doubt.. classic material
