I never understood how could 4 PPC burst could blow up a Thor and how one SRM could blow up a MadCat in this intro when in the game it took quite much more!
I am 16 years old and wish I could still play this game. I found a patch to get it working but my dad and I don't have the CD. I am a true MW fan, and I troll my friends because they think I'm talking about Modern Warfare. I'd take this game over Modern Warfare any day.

I thought at the time I just wasn't doing something right but much later a friend showed me his copy and it worked just fine. By then, unfortunately, I had given up. I never knew there were more games after. There's even a V! Must have been awesome. What I don't get is, in this age of first person shooters, where is MechWarrior??
Where is MechWarrior in this day and age? The technology just isn't here yet. I've been playing MW: Living Legends which is a mod of Crysis, and in all honesty, it's not a good game. Not to say the devs aren't working their asses off, and really Crysis is the bad game, but it's nothing compared to how these games will be.
And BF2142 was garbage in all regards, so my case is settled.

What I dont get is. His PPC's should have recharged. And he sustained no damage. When his machien guns ran out of ammo why did he not just select a new weapon group? Its like they expect us to believe his PPC's ran out of ammo! His heat level wasnt even critical :-P
My family had the ATI Rage edition which featured graphics card support. Sadly, that's the only computer the game would work on. We still keep that computer for the sole purpose to play Mechwarrior II.

Lastly the voiceover doesn't at all match with the setting, they say a bunch of stuff the clans never would.

Machine guns are actually some of the best weapons in the game if you use 4 or more and group them. Just drop all weapons except for some lrms to soften up the enemies, put 4 machine guns with 600 amo each and a medium pulse laser, group all weapons and hold down the fire button. Its continuous 15 damage per second with barely any heat. You will kill enemies fast and makes the game pretty easy. Plus, no heat buildup.
What was interesting, is you can see that the mech battles are not drawn out affairs. Like in battletech, a fight can be over in a matter of seconds as the weapons are so powerful.
you know what would be nice a skin mod for this game so you can have your favorite cartoon characters as battlemechs much like the mod found in UT 2004.
This is THE best mechwarrior sequel made. The original one was also good, though it was in old EGA graphics. Mech2 music, gameplay and general feel just hits it right. I remember taking the game disc and sticking it in my old discman and listening to the tunes. Good times.

My god I haven't played in 10 years I still know all the words and i found the old cd for it and tried to play it but it crashes on the start up with all compatability settings on. So I tried to dual boot my computer with 98 instead of Xp but 98 says i have too low memory even though i have 4Gb of RAM :(

Alpha strikes are the arse-fucked addition to the franchise. Created by people who didn't stop to think that by firing all your weapons at once wouldn't blow the fuck out of your own 'mech, instead of the enemy.

Although Im not sure which version your using, but in mine slash damage is a real bitch...and in reality, also in simulators, a ballistic missile is never going to collide with a beam of light, laser or ulse....but missiles will collide with other missiles, which haens in my face almost everytime I use Alha strike. And machineguns save lives. Well they will buy you time at least. (you can shoot missiles down with them) I JUST started laying again...can u tell? lol. :)
@Guesswork01 Yeah, bad idea, unless you enjoy the crutch of being oversized and getting 0 weight class oints. You didnt study your archives and you're not seeing the two diff fighting styles. With just two machineguns he comromized the Summoner's arm actuator before unloading the rest of his ammo into his back (which had him by oh idk 100 tonnes) Heres a lesson freebirth. Get hot and armor is weakend, actuators are slowed and they will be the first to go. Learn from Bravo Cadet. JadeFalcon4life!
I certainly did not forget about the heat build up from two PPC but in every mech I have ever piloted from MW1 to MW4, unless you had a terrible configuration that didn't really bother with heat sinks for anything other than aesthetic value, I never had it build up so much heat I had to resort to machine guns that ran out of ammo after 15 seconds. And keep in mind it was about 25 seconds between that first mech being blown apart and the final conclusion...plenty of time to cool down.
I played this as a 14 year old and now with nearly 30 i still remember the missions and still love the great soundtrack of this games. This is one of the best games of all times. Still great!

@AngerSubscriptions You are like so many other people, always forgetting about the heat build-up. Even firing one PPC, your heat spikes very high, and depending on what heat sinks your 'mech carries, it takes time to dissipate that heat. Notice that two PPCs were fired - that spikes the heat level of ANY 'mech into the red, so you can't use lasers or even missles, as the heat they generate when launched would shut your 'mech reactor down. MGs don't creat heat, so they were all that could be used

I bought a joystick for flight simulator, offer with it : Mechwarrior 3.
My best use of it was to play it and I still have both the joystick and the game installed. Which is far to be the case for any flight simulator.
I will definitively buy Mechwarrior 5 since it seem to be back on actual simulation

Its continuous 15 damage per second with barely any heat. You will kill enemies fast and makes the game pretty easy. Plus, no heat buildup.

I bought this game in 2005 or 2006 from a garage sale. This was the times of Gears of War, the 360 and PS3, and the dawn of HD graphics.
This was my favorite game when I think back to then. Nothing even close to like it.

What was interesting, is you can see that the mech battles are not drawn out affairs. Like in battletech, a fight can be over in a matter of seconds as the weapons are so powerful.

This is THE best mechwarrior sequel made. The original one was also good, though it was in old EGA graphics. Mech2 music, gameplay and general feel just hits it right. I remember taking the game disc and sticking it in my old discman and listening to the tunes. Good times.

Btw.. at 0:52 you can see bandit's weapon (rockets?) getting disabled by the machine gun barrage. Unfortunately his other weapon was enough to finish off the clansman from point blank range.

My god I haven't played in 10 years I still know all the words and i found the old cd for it and tried to play it but it crashes on the start up with all compatability settings on. So I tried to dual boot my computer with 98 instead of Xp but 98 says i have too low memory even though i have 4Gb of RAM :(

Although Im not sure which version your using, but in mine slash damage is a real bitch...and in reality, also in simulators, a ballistic missile is never going to collide with a beam of light, laser or ulse....but missiles will collide with other missiles, which haens in my face almost everytime I use Alha strike. And machineguns save lives. Well they will buy you time at least. (you can shoot missiles down with them) I JUST started laying again...can u tell? lol. :)

@Guesswork01 Yeah, bad idea, unless you enjoy the crutch of being oversized and getting 0 weight class oints. You didnt study your archives and you're not seeing the two diff fighting styles. With just two machineguns he comromized the Summoner's arm actuator before unloading the rest of his ammo into his back (which had him by oh idk 100 tonnes) Heres a lesson freebirth. Get hot and armor is weakend, actuators are slowed and they will be the first to go. Learn from Bravo Cadet. JadeFalcon4life!

I certainly did not forget about the heat build up from two PPC but in every mech I have ever piloted from MW1 to MW4, unless you had a terrible configuration that didn't really bother with heat sinks for anything other than aesthetic value, I never had it build up so much heat I had to resort to machine guns that ran out of ammo after 15 seconds. And keep in mind it was about 25 seconds between that first mech being blown apart and the final conclusion...plenty of time to cool down.

He could destroy a...what...Thor (?) in one volley of PPCs but then his machine gun ammo only lasts 15 seconds before running out? No lasers or missiles? And it dies in one shot? Epic Fail.

@AngerSubscriptions You are like so many other people, always forgetting about the heat build-up. Even firing one PPC, your heat spikes very high, and depending on what heat sinks your 'mech carries, it takes time to dissipate that heat. Notice that two PPCs were fired - that spikes the heat level of ANY 'mech into the red, so you can't use lasers or even missles, as the heat they generate when launched would shut your 'mech reactor down. MGs don't creat heat, so they were all that could be used
