outside of taekwondo I think this is the only place i ever heard someone call this a snap kick and most taekwondo people seem to call this a front kick. i prefer "snap kick" though

But there is no exchange of forces (counter-balancing), no rotation of the standing foot, and therefore no snap. No doubt she could give me a run for my money in the sack. But there is nothing lethal about this technique.

Please don't be offended, I do appreciate the vid. But I could give her a lesson in unpresidented SNAP. There is no right and wrong style or technique but there are MORE EFFICENT methods. Which is up to the practioner to apply quickly and at the right time

I train in Jiu Jitsu and TKD ..I agree with your assessment..but you have to train for a lethal kick..because through all the grappling you have to manuever for a Knockout blow.

Totally agree on the floor JJ will win hands down - BUT if it stays up and at distance the Karate martial artist has the advantage with the kicks & strikes. There is no "Best martial art" they all have their pros and cons. I study KSW and can hold my own but if say I came across a Black Belt in judo there is no way id let them get near me !

My sensei always said "fight a kickboxer in a closet and a judoka on a football field", the idea is to do what they don't. Both styles have strong and weak points which is why Cross Training is the only means to be fully well rounded. Maybe someone's better on the ground but I've met many Karate practitioners and boxers who can land 3 or 4 good strikes (many simultaneously) before I think all but the most ardent jujitsu practitioner would be able to defend effectively.

dude, I take karate and half of my training is what to do if you are taken down. if you don't take the martial art, don't act like you know it. I don't know much about Jiu Jitsu, so all i'll say is you're wrong about karate.

Technique is one thing ...For beginner = DO .SelfDefence : just put some finger (eyes) or kick/hit the groin ... Fantastic to put these videos on .With Rei 10/10.

She needs to explain the dimensions of a front stance better, use amounts of shoulder-widths. A front stance is one Shoulder width wide, and 1 1/2 to 2 shoulder widths long. Remember, train under an actual instructor folks, not a video.
