  • Haha thanks mate!!

  • I just played this today. WOW. My speakers almost fell on the floor! Cam, I feature your Dive Bomber on my channel page. You said you wished there was a boogie teacher in OZ....you don't need one, dude. You're the teacher yourself.

SO SWEET..........I feel so happy when I hear this number. =D

    Doug

  • Hey Doug! :D

Thanks for featuring me on your page! And Thanks for your compliments... I would love to teach people to play boogie woogie one day, I just want someone else in oz to play with really! I'm so glad it makes you feel happy...it's what boogie woogie is meant to do - it's just happy blues! :)

    Cam

  • this is the real thing.. man it's good..

  • Thanks mate...I enjoyed it! :)

  • This is also one of my favorite video's :) I can watch it over and over..swing at his top!

  • Yeah this is one of my favourites too!! Ive done some budgeting recently and Im just cant afford to go to the festival :( Id need about $6000 to come from Australia! And I cant get a credit card because my income is not high enough and Ive already got a car loan :(

Sorry about that mate I really wanted to come & play with you! The only chance Ive got now is if I can borrow some money from my parents when they sell the house...we'll see :s

I let you know if anything else happens

    Take care

    Cam

  • Hey cam how r u ?? I hope you still planning to come to the festival in July, looking forward to see you there, how's life ? take care bye Eeco

  • Hey Eeco I'm great thanks! And you??

I'm doing my best to make it to the festival..I've just met the girl of my dreams in the last four months and we're planning on moving out together really soon...so life's great at the moment thanks mate!!! :D Not sure if I'll have enough money by the time the festival comes along..So I might have to look at getting a credit card or something if I'm going to go. I'll definately try my hardest! I'm looking for a better job too :)

    How's life for you?

    Cam :)

  • Im doing good, busy with school too! :) I hope you can come man that would be awesome. We can play this song, I think that would sound great. Anyway let me know if you have any plans coming to the UK festival, take care bye Eeco

  • For the "neophytes"..there was Pete Johnson and Albert Ammons...LEGENDS! Their duets remain classics of the genre...we are blessed to hear and witness Eeco and Cam doing it justice, maybe better. OUTSTANDING!!!!

  • I may be biased...but not only is this GREAT music...it's great video! If anyone might "bemoan" the techno...let them watch this. WELL DONE!!!

  • Hey Scott

Thanks mate yeah the video took a while to get right! :s

That last compliment had me blushing in my seat! Thank you so much :D

    Cam :)

  • Cam&Eeco

I lucked out and found myself a piano teacher. Going thru the yellow classified phone pages,I came across 4 teachers. The 1st 3 I called I said have you ever heard of Albert Ammons, and their reply was NO. I said to all 3,sorry you can't help me and hung up. But the 4th guy said yes and even has some of his cassett tapes. My heart skiped a beat and I was so happy to find someone that likes to play what I only want to play. I'm on my way.Hope it's not to difficult to learn.

    bob

  • Great stuff Bob!! :D

I wish there was a boogie woogie teacher in Australia :(

It wont be too difficult just make sure you learn your scales and really train your hands to use multiple finger combinations with lots of exercises.

Actually it might be worth learning a few classical songs just to to get the technique.

    Cam

  • I can't take it anymore. You 2 guys are killing me everytime I replay your video's. Although it's been over 60 years since I got the bug and have been trying to play it by ear,I just haven't been able to get as good as you guys. Since I have all the records & sheet music, but can't read it,I have finally decided to look for a good piano teacher that can show me how to play using all my fingers and how to read the sheet music.

    bob

  • Haha thanks Bob :)

I think you've just taken one of the biggest steps forward with learning to play boogie! One thing I remember about my classical piano lessons was how it helped immensely with my fingering, synchonisation and technical skills.

Well dont mate,It'll be the best thing you've ever done...

    Good luck!

    Cam :)

  • hey cam how r u doing?No video's uploaded? hope to hear from u soon :) Eeco

  • Hey mate, sorry I thought I replied :s

Yeah I'm ok thanks, and you?

Life's been really busy lately!! But I've just finished my exams and should have a lot more time to myself soon :D

Just have to get my piano tuned before I make any more vids ;) ...sounding pretty bad at the moment lol

    Cam :)

  • WOW! Great stuff. I luvit!

    Tom Warner = tdub1941

  • Haha thanks Tom!

I just subscribed to your vids (I'm a big fan of Carl Sonny Leyland!)...I also love ragtime and a bit of jazz too...

    Thanks for your vids!

    Cam :)

  • Yeah, and you got stuff on YouTube that makes me have to run around barefooted cus it keeps blowing off my socks ! ! !

  • Hahahha lol!....thanks mate!! :D

  • Amazing video..Albert & Pete would be proud !!..my feet was tapping all the time, great guys! Tom

  • Thanks Tom! :D

I wish Albert and Pete could hear us lol!

    Glad you liked it,

    Cam :)

  • its just better every time I listen. thanks again

  • Lol...thanks mate!

    Glad you like it :D

    Cam :)

  • just now get to watch , wow , I really liked it . more when you can please

  • Thanks :)

We'll definately do more when we have time - very busy with university at the moment :(

    Cam :)

  • I'll try to post another one so you can join in Cam :D, at the end of this week I'll be in England for 4 days and yeah if we only had someone who could play the styl of Mead Lux Lewis, we would be complete :D

  • Ok that'll be great Eeco!! :D

Yeah all we need is a bit of Meade...that would be awesome!

Have you noticed in 6th Avenue Express (the original) Ammons and Johnson keep alternating between foreground and background? So I think in this vid we're both playing some of Ammons' parts and some of Johnson's parts.

    Cam :)

  • Yes they change a lot each time :) sometimes it's difficult to hear who plays what but yeah it's a great song! :D

  • Yeah the only way you can tell is by recognising their different styles. When I realised what they were doing it only made me appreciate the song more and the skill they had! :D

  • Ow, I'm so jealous of you guys :)!!! Wish I had enough blues skills to join in.. *cry*

    This is amazing!!

  • Lol..thanks! :)

That would be great...a trio - you could be Meade Lux Lewis...lol :D

Don't cry, get practicing on your blues!! You'll get there!

    Cam :)

  • Thanks!

We will do some more when I have time :)

    Stay tuned!

    Cam :)

  • I just keep coming back to this vid...wow...Eeco you have the right hand of HEAVEN...you both are great.

  • Lol...thanks, glad you like it! :)

  • Thanks buddy :D

  • Just a question, as long my idea sugested that was very necessay that one pianist first record his part, and the other recorded the second part listning to his partner recording, I'm curious to know who recorded first. Could you tell me? Regards. Beto Music

  • No worries!

    It was Eeco first.

    Cam :)

  • I see you worked my idea of virtual duet, like I posted in Terry Asspinal's page. Great wor. Maybe in next duet you can find a way to get the positions for both pianist's camera in a angle like I sugested. Great work. Sincerelly Beto Music.

  • Thanks! :)

Yeah I got my camera at the right angle but Eeco's wasn't because he did that video a long time before you suggested the angle thing. I will do the next duet in the same angle but you will have to remind Eeco to do the angle from the left of the piano.

    Cam :)

  • Thanks guys..I just love this vid...my Dad and oldest brother use to play Boogie duets...ahhh..memories.

  • Thanks James! :)

I would've loved to have seen/heard your dad and brother play. It's a shame recording yourself was not so easy as today back then.

    Cam :)

  • Thanks! :D

  • Hi Guys ! Do you know the "Saint Louis Blues" version by Ammons - Johnson from The McGregor Radio Transcriptions of May 10 1944 ? Awesome !

  • I just like it at 1:47, oooh thats the most swinging part in the whole piece..cam we should do more of this..I'll post a video next week so you can add your style with it :d ok?

  • Yeah that's a nice part isn't it :)

By the way Eeco please feel free to reply to anyone's comments and compliments on this video and any of our future duets as you are a big part of the video too!

I agree, I would love to do more of this. It was the most enjoyable and rewarding vid I've put together and would love to do it again thanks Eeco!

    Looking forward to your vid!!

    Cam :)

  • Oh Goodie, goodie!!! Sounds like more coming soon! Yayyyy!!!! :D

I love this so much, everyday, everyday, I gots to Boogie! Thanks, guys, you are a team that will go down in history!

  • Hi Guys

    We are listning to the

The 21st Century "Boogie Boogie Boys"

    Terry

Ps I tried adding bass, but it did not work, cluttered it up

  • 3 versions of this by Ammons/ Johnson piano duet are known:

    17 June 41 - 11 01 43 and 17 11 43 . I presume that this one is from Jubilee 06 ( 11 01 43 ) ? Regards

  • Really?! I never knew that! I thought there was only one version! :O

Do you have any of the other recordings you can send me? Or where I can get them from?

    Regards

    Cam :)

  • The RARE 1943 versions are on DOCD - 1009 ( Document Records ) from 1998 titled :PETE JOHNSON ; Radio Broadcasts , Film Soundtracks ,Alternate Takes 1939- c.1947 ). CHEERS . They are still selling in the UK

  • I'll recieve that CD soon :D..I've listened to some examples sounds like a great CD :D

  • Sorry my mistake! The November 17 ONLY is on this CD !

I am sure the other one is on another Document CD . Get their address in the UK from Google and retrieve their catalogue ? Regards .

  • That's ok thanks for your help!

    Cam :)

  • Hi Guys ! This is VERY GOOD ! CONGRATULATIONS !

  • Hey, thanks very much!! :D

  • Great Boogie. Fantastic. I have the sheet music but it does not contain all your choruses. You should have another version. Cheers.

    Cam :)

hope you had a good holiday.

I will definately be doing more of these in the future.

    Cam :)

  • I keep coming back, can't get enough of this! ;-)

  • Lol...thanks Paul! :D

Did you know Terry's going to try to add his bass guitar and Don(starboy288) might try to add his drums to this recording?

Can't wait to see how it turns out! :D

It'll be hard though to keep it in sync and at the right volume.

    Cam :)

  • Eeco(Albert Ammons)+Cam(Pete Johnson)..man I like to play with you in realtime :D that would be awesome !! :) talk to u later on msn, bye

  • Yeah I wish I could!!

    Oh well...one day ;)

    Cam :)

  • Ah Haaa! Got the both of you guys together!

This is exceptional! A sensational, stunning success!

    Bravo! Bravo! BRAVOOO!!! ;-) Congratulations!

Your Boogie is so exciting, one can just see Albert Ammons rolling his twinkly eyes, and making those charming, smiley twitches in his face to your groove!

Thank you, also, for inspiring all of us. There are no borders for musicians. We are youtubians! ;-)

  • Thanks very much!! :D

    I'll see what I can do ;)

    Cam

  • Hi Cam Wow that just sounds great!! :D. Wich program did you use to make this? Top rating for this video!

  • Very cool modern day duet on the boogie woogie, Sixth Avenue Express. Shows how each player has their own thing going on in terms of interpretation, just like Pete and Albert in Boogie Woogie Dream. Fine playing, and very enjoyable.

  • Thanks Don! glad you enjoyed it! :)

  • This has got the be the best thing Ive ever seen! Awesome ! What on earth would Albert n Pete make of this ? 2 Guys, who have never met each other playing their Duet. Well done!

  • Thanks Matt! I'm sure Albert and Pete would be proud! :)

    Cam

  • Congratulations!!! This is astonishing, inspiring, and a smashing success!

    Thank you, both of you!!!

  • Thank you Paul! :D

  • Wow! Great!

  • Thanks! :)

  • Eeco is on the left (foreground piano)

Cam is on the right (background piano)

Sorry about the poor video quality and sound quality - it's as good as I could get especially with the split screen stretching the vids. And when YouTube uploads it it deteriorates in quality.

    Hope you enjoy it!

    From Cam and Eeco
