I believe you are creative and knowlegable but this is useless for someone who wants to sit down and just record themselves with extras. It is useless for the electronic heads who want 2 mix beats. Give us something easy.plz
you didnt even tell me anything?? I dont even fucking know how the hell to mix down my drums separately! This is too acoustic based, No one uses daws for acoustic music wtf>>?? why is there no emphasis on electronic MODERN music... FFS. Absolutely infuriating, so intricate and elaborate yet completely without decent intruction.
Total bitch move. Batter ys a great product but your post is like going to a chevy video on going on about Ford. If you own sonar, see if any of this FREE tutorial is useful. if it's not, figure out why you are too stupid to follow a simple tutorial instead of being an ass.
1) it's a 3 part tutorial. he gets to mixing down separately later.
2) the tutoriial is very general. it is not about musical styles or genres. If he spent time going over various genres it would waste a lot of time. The principals covered apply to most genres. "modern music" is also a very broad term covering a lot of different styles.
the patterns in SD3 are simple midi patterns. You can create midi patterns in sonar in any number of ways. for drum beats, i would suggest starting with the step sequencer
A little off topic but... how did you get the UI to the point where this video started? I dont see all those neet tabs and everything. (like where the synth rack is located. :( )
@capierce14 okay, i don't have session drummer, but i have cakewalks studio instruments, where there also is a drum. tu put these things into sonar, to play what the drum patterns are playing, i simply drag and drop them from the drum programm to sonar. i think it should work that way here too..
@CakewalkSoftware Great demo but I had the exact same question. I was using the 'Room rock'n'ride' kit from SD2 for an older project but can't see it in SD3, it's not on the prog dropdown so where would I get it? I still have SD 2 available on my synth list but would rather use that kit (and any others) in SD3. Thanx.
@CakewalkSoftware Many thanks. BTW have now watched the other 4 vids of this masterclass and would highly recommend to other users, not just on the finer points of creating good drum parts but also on related issues like good tracking practices and speeding up workflow in Sonar.
Another dope kit? Lol. Trying to be hip with the youth cakewalk? Thanks for the demo and a chuckle.

Virtual drums are so fucking lame. Find a drummer, even if you have to pay him something

Can you add your own drum samples to SD?
TheObscureMind 6 months ago
@TheObscureMind
yes, you can. You can actually drag samples right on to the drum pads.

How do you RECORD???
i have seen a bunch of Videos that demonstrate how awesome this is, but nothing that says " click this to record what Session Drummer 3 is Playing"
How do you record the Drum Track??

did you put some eq or compression? it sounds a lot thicker than just plain SD3
garbz24 1 year ago
@garbz24 I started with no comp or EQ, and then of course mixed down the drums throughout the demo. But the drums at the beginning are dry.

@CMayjaH That was a Dell M4400 laptop, bit outdated in terms of what you can buy now, but still reasonably powerful.

I wonder if there is a way to transfer the kits from SD2 into SD3 so I only need the one interface. Any help Cakewalk?
FunknGrvn 1 year ago
@FunknGrvn Actually, all of the SD2 kits and MIDI grooves are included with SD3, so there's no transferring needed. :-)

@sludgefingers The SD2 kits used presets that used the SmartLoops kits. If you want to use the SD2 kits then use the SmartLoops kits in SD3.
