Oh, how wonderful to hear this hymn, and this gifted ORGANIST, WHO IS HE or SHE? Thank you for beautiful congregation hymn. Listen how the ORGANIST changes stops, smoothly and clear transposition. Thank you sir.
thank you for supplying me the title of the hymn. Indeed it is by charles wesley, but it is the gibbons version not the hatton one. hatton's version is the same melody as "all through the night." found this out lately only.
Henry VIII and reformists described Thomas of Canterbury's conflict with Henry II as an example of the Catholic Church affronting the authority of the king in England. When did the Church of England add (or add again) St. Thomas to its calendar of saints?
@lichtbroeder: Thomas a Becket, also known as St. Thomas of Canterbury, lived in the 12th century, more than 300 years before Henry VIII. I believe that you may be confusing him with Sir Thomas More, who is a saint in the Roman Catholic Church and is commemorated in the Church of England as a Reformation martyr.
St Thomas of Canterbury was a Roman Catholic memory serves me.

The hymn is forth in thy name o lord I go by Charles Wesley. The speed of the tune is about right. The recording is not very clear
