For the comments critical of Jon not thanking the Lord...maybe he didn't want to sound cliche in an industry that so cheaply gives Jesus Christ the glory, when their music doesn't. IMHO, their music does all the talking. not the acceptance speech.
@IMCcanTWEESTED many people at the Grammys dont know Jesus..and obviously by the applause.. they dont listen to switchfoots music... & obviously just thanking Jesus probably wouldnt do much... but you have the opportunity to go infront of an audience of some of the most influential people in our society on national tv at the most important award show...b/c you won best Gospel Rock artist... that is such an opportunity to lead people to Jesus by spreading the Gospel.. Thats a wasted opportunity

Switchfoot have a unique ability to make people think about things that aren't exactly in a song, There are many ways to reference God without saying God, This is why I like them, look at 2 songs in Hello Hurricane (Sing it out, Your Love is a Song) I would believe they are Gospel.
Switchfoot, you finally are being recognized for your hard work in the past 14 years. God bless your music that has helped me in hard times and still is. And god bless Jon foreman, a great songwriter who always stays true to his lyrics your a huge inspiration to me and others

@Dman761 give me a reason why you feel that way... definitely talented musicians... but the category was gospel album... they dont once mention the gospel.. which is Jesus' life, death and resurrection.. Lecrae, Gungor and David crowder clearly mention the gospel all the time in their music.. therefore one of those 3 should have won... then they didnt even thank Jesus, who is the reason for gospel music
@sarena46 If you actually listen to the lyrics there's Jesus Christ throughout all their music. They might not say his name every 5 seconds of a song but there's a lot of truth in their music. And even if they didn't thank God for their Grammy the way they live their lives says more to people.
@bvideon i have everyone of their albums... they use the words scars and salvation and redemption..it could mean anything (none are on this new album)..i know plenty of people who listened to switchfoot and did not know they were christian..Switchfoot just uses a whole bunch of analogies and symbolisms
but 1 corinthians 1:17 says "For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect."
@sarena46 You make a good point there. But sometimes non-Christians won't listen to all the worship stuff to start so they'll start listening to this kind of music and then they'll be more open to worship. I can see where your coming from though. God Bless
