  • Will this game still run on Windows 7?

  • how did you make the civilization and homes? they just popped up

so, that time is paused hahaha XD

    silly me

  • I just load New York and crash planes into it.....Oh shut up it's been 11 years.

  • @doodle878 Make the joke...fine. But don't defend yourself with the "It's been 11 years" shit. 3000 people died. Accept you're a jackass when making that type of joke and move on. Don't attempt to justify your bullshit

  • @doodle878 12 years :P

  • Err... Aren't you suppose to build services (excluding schools) only when they are needed most? (Rising crime, first fire, sickness through the roof, etc...)

  • imacheat

  • the pc version works fine, but I herd the ps1 version on the ps3 laggs like hell.

  • this is easy on pc.... dont understnad anythink on ps3 :/ help pls :D

  • Hey man, why do my residencial, commerce and industrial does not grow?

  • i wanna cry! D,x

  • man this game brings back memories

  • That was the worst tutorial i've ever seen. Yeah the city got bigger, and it also became run down in like 10 seconds.

  • wtf i started wid only 10k an he haz like 90k or sumtin man

    wtf

  • @baykusmc well man,I just started with 20k and i'm now with more then 1.000.000.000. :)

  • i didn't got the last part o.o

  • Now look at the city: ruins, ruins everywhere!

  • wheres the terrain bar?!

  • it's gotten bigger?, its all abandoned building man ajajaja

  • TERRIBLE TUTORIAL

  • i have a question, because im new to the game, how to win money in the game?

  • @igorpro21 this tutorial dont show a lot of things, but if you attend well the cities demands you will begin to win money and this just increases...

Keep a eye in the bars that shows in the tools menu, the one that shows "RCI"...

Dont begin with a lot of zones, and dont need to begin with police, school and etc... You will only use this when your city gets bigger.

and dont put much industries near residencial, separete both with comercial.

  • u forgot to add water lol

  • I used to play this game allll the time

But then our computer crashed so its gone now ):

  • really awsome and cool videos thumbs up and thanks for the tutorial!

  • i always tend to use the urban renewal kit, since yeah it is easier, but yeah i had played it in-game before

  • how do you get the airport to show up?

  • I have this PS ONE claccis on my PS3 but it's so damn hard to play.

  • @lae510 yeah this game was made for pc gaming i also have the ps1 version it sucks

  • just tell me what is the deal with the water pipes... and how I can stop spending so much money.

  • thanks fo helping

  • 2:13 OWNED LOLZ

  • in my games i put down all of these things but the people never come!!???

    what's going on?

i even let it run for decades and they never came...

  • @stonem001 try changing the structure of your city.

  • Wow! My favorites Sim City 2000 on SNES version!

  • man i found this buried in my old PSX collection and it is oh so confusing.

  • Wow you can build up streets power lines water etc very fast the PS1 version that i have (buyd in Playstation Store) is slow you need an hour to make a really big city and when you build streets etc. that one more hour to do. short the PS1 vrsion is really slow in building streets power lines etc.

  • i dont know why but none of the buildings appear when i outline an area to build it and tell it to build.

how do i make them appear?

  • Is the area supplied with power and water?

  • HELP! i always get alot of abandoned houses how do i make people use them again?!

  • A Classic,I Love Classics.

But one thing is true for me:

SimCity 3000 is Easier for me to Play Because the Growth of Houses and buildings go faster then in SC2000.

    And beforee you say:

    Yes,I got all Fundaments needed.

    Electicity,Patience,Water.

But I,Like,Do the time going on its fastest but no Progress in building at all >_>

  • i bought it via PSN Playstation Store and itlags D:

  • so addicting but difficult at the same time!

  • I would put the industry further away from the houses, and the power plant too.

  • reticulating splines

  • ill add something to this tutorial

DONT put police, schools and such yet

put power lines ON the roads connecting the buildings to other roads

after wards, you gain a lot of money, therefore keep building until $1,500 a year

    the build police and others

    A CITY IS MADE!

  • This guide will send you into debt.

  • Were the fuck is the PS 1 Version

  • is it that as each year passes then you buildings get made

  • Provided you have zoning laid out, power lines and water supply, the sim people will build all the time. You do not have to wait till the next year for buildings to pop up.

This means that you could have land that is zoned but empty. It could sit idle for 3 years depending on the demand, or it could get built up right away.

Lets say that the demand for residential is high. Lay out some res zoning and watch how quick it gets eaten up.

  • hhuh what?

  • wtf how do the houses get made

  • one thing though..........everytime a year has past, a window comes up and on the bottom of it says an amount of money..... how to increase that value? ( the budget window)

  • I set mine on auto-budget under "options." This way it does not pop up every year and I will look at it whenever I want to. However, the choice is yours.

To increase your income, it is up to you how you manage the funds. Beside each department is the % of funds given to each such as police or health care. You can cut back the amount dedicated to each to about 80-85%. If you cut back on transit, the transit commissioner gets kinda angry, so I leave it at 100%. You can up property taxes a bit.

  • As for property tax, I only up the taxes by about 1% at a time whenever needed. I may decrease later when things start to pick up.

There's to much to explain regarding budget management. There's lots of graphs to look at showing demographics and situation. Looking closely at them will help tell where to increase or decrease taxes in which category.

Then, there's cheat codes. But that takes the fun out of it.

    Good luck with that.

  • They kind of uped the difficulty from the original sim city even easy seems hard sooner or later. Its hard for me to repay loans. Then why do the Power plants only last 50 years?

  • You'ld think in real life they'd last longer. I guess that's just the way they set it.

I always use hydro-electric plants, they seem to last forever compared to gas-fired or nuke.

Before you start the game, you have the option of "edit new map." Build some high hills off to the side of the main platform. 1 on each side close to the corner with waterfalls. You then have a place for future power-plants (hydro-electric) as your city grows. When you click on "done", the simulation starts.

  • As mentioned, you edit new map before clicking on "done." You may also want to dredge out a river nice and deep using the terrain lowering tool. Best to have it from 1 end of the platform tile to the other. Good for shipping commerce. Don't forget "sea-port zoning."

1 other thing. "Where to start?" Before laying down roads, check to see which neighbor has a higher population and start near them instead of the middle. Making a road or rail connection to them is beneficial to your commerce.

  • so you dont need water pipes?

  • just one question the water pipes have to be in the same squares as residencials commerce or industry, or they can be put only in the squares rigth next to them?

  • They can be in the same squares, or, to be more specific, directly under.

Here's the simple method I use. As soon as I put down new roads, I put pipes directly under the roads. All my pipes follow the roads. Whenever new buildings pop up (regardless of zoning), they will have water supply for either side of the road.

  • Thank you very much. So a dense residencial zone can have only one line of pipes, under the road, and the residencial will not have lack of water suply. cool.

  • just put them anywhere and build pipes...

  • i downloaded the game but eveytime i open it it closes down........

  • use dosbox, this aplication help whit this game...(hahaha sorry my english, i'm from colombia...)

  • i bought this game i thought it was gonna be just like the sims and i have no idea where to start.. i get so lost i dont know what to do ... when i play it looks like im under water ?? and its not clear .. first off how do i get outta the "under water mode" and see the city im building on clear.. pls reply to this message if u know :(

  • This reply might be a bit late, but I'll try to help.

Before you start your new city, you do have the option to adjust the terrain. You can raise or lower the landscape. There is also the ability to raise or lower the entire water level. This could be the part you're missing if it seems like everything is under water.

Look for Sim City tutorials on Youtube. I'm sure there are some very comprehensive videos to help get you started.

  • I had the same problem too. But I eventualy figured it out, you see on the bottom of your menu next to the question mark is a button. Click it and it will get you out of it. That button helps you lay down pipes. I eventualy figured out what the buttons did without any help.

  • your city will go bankrupt if u do this because you wont have enough revenue to support all those buildings like the college hospital or police

  • i cant get houses pop up or anything

  • They should pop up on their own. Make sure the simulation is not paused and is allowed to run on its own. After you provide the the citizens of Sim City with proper roads, electricity, infrastructure and zoning, they will populate and build on their own. Laying out the zoning is VERY important.

Unless you know this already, you may have a corrupt file and need to reinstall.

  • thanks

  • You gotta add lots of residence, perhaps some roads obviously and also a good classic would be to add railway or even better subway but expensive. Then maybe add an airport.

  • how do you open the menu at 0:32 ???????

  • Try clicking on that icon and draging sorta thing. otherwise maybe double click.

  • thanks very much

  • I have the orginal verson of Sim City 2000 with two drifferent floppy disks ( Disk 1 and 2) and i need help insalling it!

  • Tell me what happens? What does it do? Perhaps you gotta go to "My Computer" then click on 31/2 floppy A and then click on that and look for install I guess. See I got the CD version and its good cause it installs right away when u insert the CD.

  • No matter what i do..

The construction never starts on my Residential/Commercial/Industrial areas.....

    Why?

  • oh no! what about water!? those poor people must use long drops

  • You know I have a question. Sometimes when I start to build a city.... I place residence, commerce, and industry etc. Now I got everything required: power and water etc. I fast forward it and nothing happens but loose money! There is nothing building!

If any of you have some tips please help us out here. Thanks

  • put things that pepol would like to live around like school, paks, a zoo... I have a question to how do yo conect freeways to roads?

  • I'll upload a video for you on how to build roads... I will make a few more like terraforming, and stuff...

  • I now got a video for you on how to build roads....

  • i already know all this stuff... i wanna know how i keep my city alive...it always come something i call "poor wave"...then i loose everything..HELP!

  • I dont know and I mean really it happens to me too that every city I build.. eventually it just dies... :(

  • how do you put freeways?can you tell me?

  • How do you put freeways? well what you do is you find the road tool on the tool box its like a road looking icon. Next thing you click and drag that icon and you'll find things such as road/tunnel/highway/busstation etc...

Otherwise if you can't find it, then you probably might have to unlock it...

  • Two comments. First, it can be a good idea to direct attention to the demand bars in the menu, this way you'll always know what the city needs.

Second, it's too early to build all these public buildings (police, fire department, school, etc). These buildings drain money from your city's budget, and so you'll run out of money. Wait until the city grows bigger and you have more tax money to spend.

  • Good advice!

  • HOW TO MAKE SIM CITY 2000 WORK!!

    - - - Right click the sim city icon, then poperaties then change it to 259 Colours and change the compatability to win 95

  • There wil be more coming soon guys. Sim City 4 and stuff and the History of sim city!!! Once again an awesome game but however sim city societies sucks.

  • This video is seeming to be getting old guys. I'll have to make some more. Hey guys I got sim city 3000 as well and some reason, dosent work on windows XP, well it works but the graphics stuff up and flicker....

  • thanks man

  • no water? how do u solve that one demand for water? "Water Shortage Reported" reply plz :]

  • You solve it buy simply clicking on the tap icon on the toolbar then you can put in things such as pipes, water tanks, water pumps and water treatment plants etc.

  • i have the CD-ROM

works on Windows XP or Vista

  • Awesome game this...

  • Ahh that helps i could never get it going ty :P

  • LOL guys I can't believe how popular this game actually is. That is why I added a video of this game to see people's reactions! : ) But it is a good game. Always is. Even if the graphics are bad. I always play that game if I'm bored. I then make a city and simply destroy it!!! HAHAH!

  • I'd love to play this, but it won't work with Vista :(

    I envy you ;)

  • Dosen't work with vista? Try this ok:

If you already have the game and say have installed it simply right click on the game icon then click properties and then click on compatibility.

You can then choose what operating system you want to run it under. Like win 95 or so on.

  • I know, I've done that. But the problem is with my screen, it won't work with a wide-screen. I've tried everything. At least SC4 works. I'll try it again though. Where did you get SC2K from?

  • My friend plays it in Vista all the time??

  • Can you message me what settings he used? :)

    Thanks

  • I have no problem running Sim City 2000 in Vista. I don't understand why I seem to be the only person in the world who can run virtually any game made in the past 15 years on Vista.

  • Lucky!!! :((

I had to throw out about half of my games, including Hotel Giant. My favourite game.

  • i can run simcity 2000 on vista

  • Does this city need Improving? Let me know I will make another and make it better!

  • the coal thingy is too close to residentals..

  • And I believe in my point of view it is better than the 3rd one but Sim City 4 is more better of course, however I think Sim City Societies is crap! It's nothing like the good old original.

  • Industries shouldnt be mixed with Residents BTW :P

  • Yeah I know but it was just a random city I made. I just randomly started from scratch and placed stuff all over the place. It's a good game too but it's a bit old now...

  • and no water provision?

  • water isnt ESSENTIAL

  • I could of added water if I wanted to but couldn't be F***ed.

  • thx a millon dude

  • No prob. You know you can always muck around with Sim City 2000, like disasters or redesign the city with SC2000 Urban Renewal Kit.

    Thanks for comment!

  • Thanks! Nice tutorial.

  • No problem dude. It's a good game even though it's an old game. Heaps better than Sim City 3000 but I wouldn't knock Sim City 4. However take my advice, DON'T GET Sim City Societies! It sucks shit!

  • y didnt u edit the map b4 u started. U could of saved money

  • I dunno I didn't think of that did I...
