  • I remeber wanting his signature kit so badly although ide never seen it before

and i went to drum wright in reading and i couldnt wait and i remember the guy saying you'll be in for a dissapointment its that much of a great looking kit lol

  • perfect!

  • this man is my hero!!!!!

  • in Gadd we trust!

  • steve plays great, more basic than some other guys, but grooves really well.

  • Steve is the man its all about groove above all, speed and the other stuff are secondary

Harvey Mason, Omar Hakim, Poogie Bell and Steve Gadd are my favorite drummers

  • oh my gadd!

  • Probably the most beautiful player I have ever heard. I actually had the honor of meeting him in New Jersey when I was in high school in 1987-88. A gentleman and an innovator.

  • holy mother of gadd.

  • ahaha nice!

  • HA! Very punny :)

  • ahh, one of the greatest drummers using YAMAHA...makes me really happy.

  • GOOD GADD!!

  • I've known better commentators too.

  • gadd reminds me slightly of that ticket guy in the first shrek movie... the one outside the city of duloc or something :D

  • he has a really big head

  • Gadd to president!

  • The god drummer !

  • nope neil peart

  • i love gadd

  • yea man I was there...he was feekin amazing...I met him and he is a really cool guy

  • Bernhard from Drummerworld filmed this but thanks for posting...

  • thats what i said

  • you can see him, dave weckyl & vinnie play this groove at the same time at the end of the 1982 buddy rich memorial scholarship concert.. 13 minutes, really fun.

steve's timing is just impeccable, and he's so playful on the cymbals

  • dude hes playing with four sticks that is such awesome i saw some guy play with four mallets on a xylaphone b4 but steve gadd makes him look lik shit

  • If you don't recognize it, (in the first part) he is playing the groove to the song "Late in the Evening" from Paul Simon. He said he developed the use of 4 sticks over a mozambique groove to make it sound like a whole drum section instead of just one drummer. Steve is still the man when it comes to "layin' down the law"!

  • It's not quite the 'late in the evening' pattern - but it certainly sounds like a derivation of it. The pattern on the toms is different. But Steve can do whatever he wants...!

  • That's why he's the greatest studio drummer... he knows every damn style and is freaking good at it!

  • Good Gadd allmighty!!!!

  • Gadd is god! One of my favourite drummers and thisw groove is insane

  • HE'S PLAYING WITH 4 STICKS, MAAAAN!!!!

  • YE, and vinnie is playing two.

  • uuuhhh well thats why the groove hes playing is called FOUR STICKS originally played by john bonham of zeppelin....the owner of the forum i'm on filmed this. (drummerworld)....and this is not a "jungle beat" as titled

  • Aside from the fact that Gadd is playing with four sticks, what he's playing is not the groove from the song Four Sticks by Zeppelin.

  • homer, every artist interprets the music in his own unique fashion. Have you ever heard the Gershwin classic "Summertime" performed exactly the same way by different artists?

Why would you expect it of this song? The awesome thing about music is that so much beauty can be found in differences as well as in things that we have in common.

  • Can't say I understand this relative to my comment. Someone commented that this was the Four Sticks groove, but it is not. That song and drum groove are fundamentally different. I like them both, mind you, but this isn't that - if anyone cares to know.

  • Hi homer.

I think this is "Late in the Evening" by Paul Simon.

  • It's a lot like 'Late in the Evening'. It sounds like he used that as the foundation and created some variations off of that groove. That remains one of my favorite drum tracks of all time.

  • the mozambique is the same beat as late in the evening.

  • This is one of my fav drummers. Thoses grooves are the beginning are awesome, he should play with Masters at Work lol
